The three of them searched in different directions multiple times but found no clues.
Adding to the difficulty was the fact that too much noise might attract wild animals.
âWe should probably head down, inform the staff, and ask for their help,â Lily suggested over the walkie-talkie.
Shawn agreed with the plan and instructed her and Bobby to head down, following the markers he had left on the way up.
Someone needed to remain in the area in case Katherine came back. If she found the place empty, it would likely scare her, so going down together to get help wasnât an optionâthey had to split up.
âBut itâs dangerous for you to be alone in here,â Lily argued, her voice filled with concern.
âIâm not leaving until I find her!â
With just a flashlight, Shawn continued his search, scouring the area repeatedly until he heard a faint rustling sound at the foot of a slope.
âKatherine?â
There, lying on the ground with a trail of blood on her forehead, was Katherine. Fortunately, she was conscious.
âKeep your voice down. Wild animals might hear you.â
Hearing her voice, Shawn rushed down the slope.
âKatherine! Are you alright?â
âIâm fine. I just slipped and fell down.â
It was dark, and she couldnât see the path well, causing her to lose her footing and tumble down the slope. Her head struck the rough ground, and she blacked out before she could call for help.
When she regained consciousness, she found that her ankle was twisted, leaving her no choice but to lie there and wait for someone to find her.
âIâll carry you,â Shawn offered.
Due to the impact on her head, Katherine felt a bit dizzy. âYou sure took your sweet time getting here,â she mumbled.
âIâm sorry.â
Without pausing to catch his breath, Shawn carried her down the mountain.
Even when Katherine asked him to rest, he refused.
âI feel much better now, Shawn. Iâm not as dizzy as I was earlier. You can take a break,â she urged.
âNo, you need to see a doctor as soon as possible,â he insisted.
Whenever Shawn showed his serious side, he reminded Katherine of his sister, Joelle.
By the time they reached the foot of the mountain, Lily and Bobby had already called an ambulance. Shawn was covered in dirt, with several cuts on his body.
Katherine noticed his selflessness.
However, before she could voice her gratitude, dizziness overtook her. Her eyelids grew heavy, and Shawnâs concerned face was the last thing she saw before she passed out.
