Before Nathaniel could make a move, someone grabbed Sallyâs wrist from behind.
As Sally turned around and saw Lucinda standing there, her eyes were filled with tears at the sight of her friend.
âHe bullied me!â she cried out, her voice trembling.
âAnd he even threatened to hurt me with the glass fragments!â Sally continued to sob.
âHe may be handsome, but heâs worse than those men at the bar last night!â
Sally burst into tears, feeling wronged.
âHeâs just so bad and disobedient! Please help me punish him!â
Lucinda held onto Sallyâs wrist and looked at Nathaniel with interest.
âSally said that youâre bad and disobedient.
Do you agree?â she asked.
She was curious to see how he would react to being falsely accused by Sally.
Would he be angry, or would he accept the punishment calmly?
Meeting Lucindaâs cold gaze, Nathaniel put down the kitchen knife, washed his hands, and wiped them clean.
Then he walked over to Lucinda and gently held her hand.
Nathanielâs eyes were slightly red, and he looked hurt.
âShe wanted to order me around, but I only listen to you,â he said, his voice filled with emotion.

âWhat the hell was going on here?â
This was exactly what Sally was doing â playing the victim.
Why was this man better at it than she was?
Sally was too shocked to say a word as she saw such a shameless man for the first time.
Laughter burst out of Lucinda.
Sally, who had always been unruly and spoiled by her family, didnât expect to be treated this way by a man.
âLucindaâ¦â Sally began.
With watery eyes, she pouted and looked at Lucinda, wanting to complain more but afraid of Nathanielâs reaction.
Lucindaâs face became serious as she looked into Sallyâs eyes and said, âHeâs right, Sally.
He can only listen to me.
Youâre a guest here, but hitting my people? Thatâs too much.
â
Confusion filled Sallyâs mind.
