There was silence for a few seconds on the other end of the Line.
Suppressing his anger, Graham spoke in a low voice, âHow many times have you been to the police station? This time, you even beat someone up in front of all the staff in the bar.
You are really something else! What if they turned desperate and fought back? What if you got hurt?â
Lucinda frowned at Cyrusâ gestures that told her not to retort.
She wasnât convinced, but they made her think twice about provoking Graham again.
Her voice softened.
âYouâre right.
I shouldnât have done that.
I wonât do it again.
â
But was she wrong? She knew she was right, and sheâd do it again if she had to.
Graham sighed, feeling helpless.
After a few moments, he spoke in a cold tone.
âSince youâve knelt, you can stay there for an hour.
Cyrus will supervise you.
Is there a problem with that?â
âWhat?â
Of course, she had a problem with it! She was extremely dissatisfied!
Lucinda felt wronged and behaved like a spoiled child.
âGraham, this is a marble floor.
My knees will be swollen if I kneel for an hourâ¦â
âIt appears you have yet to learn your lesson.
Letâs make it two hours then,â Graham said.
âGraham!â Lucinda exclaimed.
Cruelly, Graham continued, âSay another word and youâll kneel for four hours.
â
Lucinda relented.
âOkay.
Just two hours.
Iâll accept my punishment.
â
Graham was so cold and heartless.
He was being too strict with her.
Finally, the phone was hung up.
Lucinda turned to Cyrus with tears in her eyes and pleaded, âCyrusâ¦â
Cyrus looked back at her reassuringly and said, âDonât worry, Lucinda.
Iâll be here with you while you kneel.
â
Lucinda wondered if Cyrus would just sit there and do nothing while she knelt.
