Immediately the elevator doors opened, Nathaniel found himself face to face with Brinleigh.
Brinleigh flashed a smiled.
âMr.
Roberts, what a coincidence!â
But Nathanielâs expression remained cold as he responded, âActually, Iâm here for you.
â
Nathaniel and Brinleigh then walked together to a quiet corridor so they could talk privately.
Their assistants guarded the access points to ensure the men would not be disturbed.
Leaning against a handrail to show how relaxed he felt, Brinleigh asked, âWhat do you want to tell me?â
Nathaniel stared at him fiercely.
âWhose side would you take if your sister and Lucinda argue?â
Brinleigh pondered the question before answering, âThat wonât happen.
Melody knows who Lucinda is, and while Melody cares about Cyrus, she wonât make any trouble for Lucinda.
â
âAre you certain?â
Nathaniel sneered.
âAs far as I know, Cyrus and Melody have been engaged for two years, but they havenât set a wedding date.
Cyrus even requested the engagement be dissolved, but your grandfather persuaded him to persist.
â
âWhat are you trying to say?â Brinleigh asked, confused.
âYou know how Lucinda reacts to any slight.
Melody hurt her viciously, and Lucinda will never forgive her.
Eventually, you will have to choose between your sister and Lucinda.
â
Brinleigh was annoyed.
âI will keep both of them.
I will handle the matter.
â
Nathaniel chuckled.
âYou donât even like Lucinda that much.
Youâre simply deceiving yourself.
Itâs time for you to accept that you donât deserve her.
â
âItâs you who doesnât deserve her.
From the moment you signed that contract, you should have realized that you could never remarry her.
â
With a nonchalant smile, Nathaniel said, âWhether we remarry or not is irrelevant.
I can protect her in other ways.
And before she abandons me, I will help choose a man who really loves and cares for her.
That man is definitely not you though.
â
Brinleighâs expression softened.
âThat person is me! We are perfect for each other in every way.
I have loved her for many years.
I donât mind that she is a divorced woman.
How can you say I do not deserve her? How many men would devote themselves to a divorcee?â
