âThank you!â
Once everything was settled, Lucinda drove back to Bay Villa.
As soon as she entered the garden, she called for Conor and Rickey.
âWhat time did Nathaniel come back?â
âMr.
Roberts arrived an hour ago.
He has been cleaning the house ever since.
â
Lucinda considered this for a brief moment before asking again, âWhat about during the day?â
âHe was pretty normal.
Weâve been with him the entire time.

So Nathaniel had taken over the project just to help her out?
Lucinda couldnât bring herself to believe it just yet.
It was just the first day, after all.
If he wanted to gain her trust, then it was a given that he would behave for the first few days.
Lucinda was still deep in her thoughts when she pushed the front door open.
As soon as Nathaniel heard the sound, he poked his head out of the kitchen.
He looked shocked to see Lucinda there.
âYou clocked out early today?â
She raised a haughty eyebrow.
âWhat, am I not allowed to?â
âOf course you are.
â
He proceeded to take out a pair of house slippers from the shoe cabinet and handed them to her.
âThank you for your hard work today.
â
As composed as he was, Lucinda could tell that he was panting slightly.
His white shirt was drenched in sweat.
It seemed that Nathaniel had thoroughly busied himself in the one hour before her arrival.
âIs dinner ready?â
âNot yet.
Can you give me another twenty minutes?â
He had worked himself hard today, so Lucinda thought it would be best not to make things difficult for him.
She simply nodded and went upstairs.
That evening, in the menâs prison in Forden.
The prisoners were given half an hourâs worth of free time after dinner.
