Resting her chin on one hand and pointing at the dish, Lucinda said, âNow finish the whole plate.

Nathanielâs expression changed briefly before he smiled again.
âAs my master, this should be your dinner.
I cannot deprive you of the pleasure.

Lucinda was bored of small talk.
âIf you donât eat it, Iâll call the bodyguards and get them to help you.

âYouâ¦â His eyes narrowed, and Nathaniel glared at her.
âAre you trying to use your power to control me?â
She didnât deny his accusation.
âYes, and there are plenty of ways to deal with disobedient servants.
Will you eat, or do you need to be force fed?â
He resigned himself to his impossible situation, but he resented her continuous gaze.
Nathanielâs face darkened.
He had always been a proud man over the years, yet Lucinda had successfully challenged him four times in a single afternoon.
He hated her!
She smiled as if she had done nothing wrong.

At some point, he fled to the kitchen and vomited.
Lucinda clapped her hands.
She admired his endurance.
He avoided vomiting until his third mouthful.
