âThank you, Daddy.
â Colby accepted the piece gracefully.
He bit into the peach, savoring its sweetness and juiciness.
âDaddy, please cut up all the peaches and set them on the plate.
Iâll make sure to eat them later.
Uncle Sonny and Kyson are likely tidying up the labâs restrooms now.
If youâre looking for something to do, you could go check on them.
â
His voice carried a thoughtful tone beyond his years.
Yet, Nathan looked at his son with a puzzled expression.
âWhy do I get the feeling that you donât want me here and are trying to send me away?â
âNo, how could I ever think that?â Colby responded with a sweet smile.
However, Nathan knew his son well enough to suspect there was something concealed behind that smile.
âI mentioned Iâm off work today and Iâm not planning to go anywhere.
I just want to spend the day with you, Colby.
â
âOh, alrightâ¦â Colbyâs face showed reluctance, and he replied, âThank you, Daddy.
â
Nathan did not respond and simply continued with the peaches.
He meticulously cut the fruit into neat slices and arranged them on the plate with a graceful, dignified touch.
The ward fell silent for a moment.
The researcher adjusted the flow rate of the IV drip and then exited with the medical tray in hand.
Father and son remained quiet, each preoccupied with their own thoughts.
Colby, in particular, furrowed his brow slightly, as if contemplating something troubling.
After some time, Nathan broke the silence.
âI heard from your mom that youâve set three conditions for Kyson to earn your forgiveness, is that right?â
Bunny Bookery
âYes, he agreed.
â Colby asked timidly, âDaddy, are you going to scold me?â
Colby was overthinking it.
This was a matter between him and Kyson.
If Colby chose to forgive Kyson after his conditions were met, then Kyson deserved that chance.
âI just want to know how many conditions he has fulfilled.
â
Upon hearing this, Colby looked worried.
âHeâs only got one left.
I told him if he could meet the second one, I might make the last one easier.
But now I kind of regret saying that.
I want to give him a really tough challenge!â
âWhat kind of challenge?â Nathan asked with a slight smile.
Colby glanced at the back of his hand, marked by numerous needle punctures and some bruising from attempts to stop bleeding.
âMaybe⦠I could poke him with a small needle a thousand times.
â
That was indeed a daunting task!
