Colby, without hesitating, nodded and explained, âUncle Sonny mentioned he had a pending fight deal with Kyson from a few years back.
They never got around to it because they were too busy.
Since they both had time today, they went ahead with it.
â
Nathan thought for a moment and then confirmed, âYes, thatâs accurate.
â
Watching the intense duel on the basketball court, Lucinda said, âThey should stop now that they know whoâs stronger.
It looks Like theyâll keep going until one of them collapses.
â
Nathan, following Lucindaâs concerned gaze which was fixed on Kyson, who was more severely injured, frowned and felt a twinge of jealousy.
âLucinda, are you worried about Kyson?â he asked with a hint of jealousy in his voice.
âWhat?â Lucinda turned to him, puzzled by his question.
With a stern face, Nathan quickly relented under Lucindaâs intense stare.
âTheyâve definitely taken it too far.
Iâll step in, stop them, and determine the winner based on their injuries.
â
Colby intervened.
âDad, you shouldnât interfere.
This is between Kyson and Uncle Sonny.
Theyâve signed a safety waiver, so they should fight until thereâs a clear winner.
Itâs not your place to decide the outcome.
â
Nathan remained silent.
It was common for men to engage in fights occasionally.
Besides, they had agreed to this beforehand.
Even if Kyson ended up severely injured or with a broken limb, Nathan would consider it part of the deal.
But Lucinda didnât see it that way.
She crouched down and looked at Colby.
Placing her hands on his slender shoulders, she asked softly, âDid you come up with the idea of the safety waiver? Do you really want Kyson to get killed in this fight?â
Blinking his eyes, Colby shook his head and replied, âIt would be boring if he just died.
He needs to be alive to settle his debts to me.
â
Lucinda was taken aback.
She hadnât expected such a response from Colby, but she didnât dwell on it.
He was just a child, after all.
One could expect any sort of remark from a child.
Lucinda gently rubbed Colbyâs head and said earnestly, âI know Kyson well.
Heâs not the type to give up easily.
Once heâs set on winning, heâll fight to the end, even if it means losing his life.
If the fight continues, he might actually die.
Is that what you want?â
As Nathan observed Lucinda talking seriously with Colby and taking Kysonâs side, he couldnât help but feel a twinge of jealousy again.
Plop!
In the middle of the basketball court, Kyson fell repeatedly.
He had coughed up blood, and it seemed likely that one of his ribs was broken.
Despite this, determined to win and fulfill the second request Colby had made, he tried multiple times with shaking arms to lift himself off the ground.
Colby began to feel uneasy watching this.
Noticing Colbyâs concern, Lucinda smiled and said opportunely, âRemember, he needs to be alive for you to see him dressed in a skirt and working as a lackey for Sonny.
That would be much more entertaining, wouldnât it?â
