The atmosphere on the basketball court was becoming increasingly tense.
Kyson and Sonny appeared to have just initiated a real tense confrontation.
It was as if the previous exchanges were just a warm-up.
The sounds of punches landing on flesh were so vivid that Destinee nearly dropped the melon she was holding.
âOh my gosh! They are both bleeding.
Itâs dreadful!â
Colby said calmly, âThe blood on Sonny is Kysonâs.
Kyson canât beat Sonny.
â
Noticing that Destinee had turned pale with fear, Colby quickly covered her eyes.
âDonât watch this.
Youâre too young for such violent scenes, or you might end up having nightmares.
â
âBut youâre a kid too.
Arenât you scared?â
Lifting his chin with pride, Colby responded, âBecause Iâm the older brother.
Iâm supposed to be brave.
â
Destinee bit her lip and said, âIâm not scared either.
Iâm really nervous and worried, but I really want to see who wins.
Iâm going to stay right here and watch until the end!â
Disturbed yet determined, Destinee set aside her melon and continued to observe the intense fight between Kyson and Sonny.
Before the fight concluded, Lucinda and Nathan reached the basketball court.
âMommy! Daddy!â Destinee ran to them and asked softly, âHow did you find out we were here?â
Lucinda explained, âWhen I checked Colbyâs ward and didnât find anyone there, I asked Aldric.
He told me you were at the basketball court, so we came here.
â
âOkay.
Letâs watch the fight together.
There are fruits to eat too!â
Nathan crouched and effortlessly scooped up Destinee in one arm, his gaze locked on the two men still duking it out in the middle of the basketball court.
âWhatâs going on with them? Why did they start fighting all of a sudden?â
Destinee explained, âThey made a bet.
The loser has to take pictures in a skirt and clean the labâs restrooms for a month.
Colby added another punishment for Kyson.
If Kyson loses, he has to work for Uncle Sonny for a month.
â
Lucinda and Nathan were at a loss for words.
The two men, both in their thirties, were behaving childishly.
Lucindaâs gaze settled on the two brawlers, especially Kyson, who was visibly hurt more than the other.
He was clearly at a disadvantage, yet he persisted.
âWhy continue fighting when they already know whoâs stronger? Now that theyâre injured, why donât they stop?â Lucinda muttered, clearly upset.
Then Colby approached and said, âKyson and Uncle Sonny signed a safety waiver, and a lawyer agreed to oversee the match as the judge.
â
Lucinda knew her son too well and asked, âWas this your idea?â
