âNathan, do you recall the time I bit you until you bled?â
âYes, I remember.
â Nathan sensed the gravity in her voice.
He turned to her and inquired, âWhatâs wrong?â
Her expression turned serious.
âI find it hard to manage my emotions.
â
In truth, she hadnât intended to be so harsh with him tonight, but in that moment, it seemed she couldnât control herself and simply needed to release her anger.
Why was this happening?
Could she be⦠unwell as well?
Nathan expressed his worry.
âAre you unwell? How about a complete check-up at the hospital tomorrow?â
Lucinda declined, âNo way.
Remember when I bit you, and we visited Aldric? He said I was perfectly fine.
I just had some mood swings due to sleepless nights during my pregnancy and some stress.
I doubt another check-up would show anything different.
Maybe Iâm just overthinking.
â
Nathanâs concern for Lucinda remained.
He advised, âMaybe itâs worth a second look.
Even if it seems Like a tiny issue now, it could sneakily grow into a bigger concern later.
â
âThereâs no point.
Aldric is one of the best in Cadiered.
If even he canât pinpoint an issue, I doubt any other doctor can.
Why bother?â
Lucinda countered.
Gently, she touched the bruise on Nathanâs buttock, suggesting, âI can ask the hotel staff to fetch some anti-inflammatory cream for you.
Iâll apply it on you.
â
Nathan shook his head, cautioning, âHold off on that idea.
This place is Ellsworthâs territory.
If you ask the waiter for some anti-inflammatory cream, word will get back to Ellsworth.
By then heâll get the wind that Iâve taken a beating.
â
Lucinda nodded in agreement.
âHow about you cozy up in bed while I step out and buy it?â she offered.
As Lucinda tried to leave the bed, Nathan grabbed her waist, keeping her right where she was.
âLook, Iâve been in the military.
Iâm not fragile.
Iâll be alright in a couple of days.
If you want to help, skip the flight tomorrow and come with me to Aldoriaâs main shopping area, alright?â
Lucinda stayed silent.
Nathan persisted, saying, âLetâs do some shopping tomorrow, then get our plane tickets and head back to Cadiered the day after tomorrow.
If youâre concerned about our little ones, we can video chat with Kyson before bedtime and check in on our babies regularly.
â
As Nathan wrapped his arms around Lucindaâs waist, she tilted her head, peered at him, and playfully questioned, âYou are not jealous of Kyson now, huh? Remember when I had that video call with him, you got quite upset?â
Nathan hugged Lucinda tightly as if he never wanted to let her go.
