Chapter 18
Irene.
The moon goddess had smiled on Tyla because if there was one thing I was certain of. I would have ended her here if that goo had ended on me.
With fierce anger, I watched as Tyla and her group of friends shrieked at the goo that had stained.
their shoes and clothes.
âYou damn b*tch,â she shrieked out and then rushed at me again. Again, they were on the other side of the room just when she was about to reach me.
I looked around again and then back at Luciana, who was still grabbing my arm.
We were the ones that moved.
Tyla and her friends were still on the same side of the room.
âHow did we move so fast?â I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Or did their school move now?
âNoâ¦â Luciana leaned in, âI just realised that my Special gift is speed. I havenât recorded it or told my family, so I donât want them to know exactly who is responsible for the move.â
My eyes bulged.
Special gift? Increased speed?
Damn.
Lucky b*tch.
If there was one thing I had wanted my entire life, it was a special Gift.
Other than the time that those two men had died without any explanation. But every other time, in our downtrodden and remote pack, I had desperately hoped that I had some power that could take me out of there.
Or give me an advantage over the others in the pack.
âI wonât say,â I finally replied, and Lucianaâs shoulders sagged.
For the first time, I felt like I genuinely had someone. Had a friend that I could call one.
Tyla stalked forward, her eyes flaring up, âStop running if you have some guts, Irene.â
I had guts.

And I had every plan to beat the hell out of this girl!
All my plans to resolve this peacefully were thrown out the window. Since she didnât want peace, was going to give her the terror she wanted.
Tyla is really strong.â Luciana mumbled, and I chuckled.
âDoes she have a Special Gift?â That was the only thing that could deter me.
âI think she has one, but itâs quite negligible.â
âGreat then!â
Tyla met me halfway, and I eyed the goo in the centre of the hallway. The bell rang, and the doors. burst open. However, Tylaâs eyes were still fixed on me. Neither of us was backing down without a fight.
She made the first move, lunging at me with a trained move.
I wouldnât be surprised if it were. She was in her third year, just like Noah and had gotten as much training.
I tightened my fists and then dodged from the direction that she was headed, but one of Tylaâs friends lunged from another direction.
It was a f**king distraction! Damn, the mind link.
âIâm fine, Luciana!â I shouted, not wanting her to join in because I could tell that she couldnât fight.
âWorry about yourself first,â Tyla barked, and I shifted my attention back to her.
âArenât you worried that you would offend the king? Or Prince Elton?â I asked her as I dodged. another punch. I didnât get enough time to rest as her friend tried to swing another one.
The bell rang one more time, and there was a flurry of movement around me.
I glanced at Lucianaâs frightened expression and did a catcall.
âLetâs get out of here!â
I never lost. That was a fact.
This time, I wasnât losing, but I was deciding to pick my battles.

Luciana rushed at me, trying her best to be slow but just fast enough that as soon as I rolled from Tylaâs grasp, she was right there holding my arm.
âThank you,â I muttered as soon as we were running in the hallway.

Some other time, I was going to come back to her. And let her know that I truly never lost any battles.
That was until I smelled him.
The sweet scent that I now knew belonged to Noah wafted into my nostrils, and I paused, my arms detaching from Lucianaâs own.
She stopped immediately and looked at me with concern, âPlease wait.â
I was curious. I couldnât even lie to myself.
But I wanted to see what he would do when he saw that I had gotten into a fight with Tyla.
Or maybe he already knewâ¦
My heart clenched at the thought. With all of these ruckuses, he must have heard and rushed over to save her, right?
Luciana didnât say anything as we both stood at the end of the hallway.
The doors barged open in less than a minute, and a furious Noah stormed into the hallway.
âIf you f**king lay a hand on her!â He growled, standing at the door and searching around the entire hallway.
His eyes stopped on Tyla and then moved away immediately as he kept searching.
And then, he did the most shocking thing. Noah stomped to where Tyla was and picked her she weighed nothing.
âWhere is Irene, Tyla?â
âShe⦠she⦠Tyla struggled to reply, her airflow restricted from his tight hold and frowned.
This wasnât what I was expecting.
âWhatâs happening here?â Luciana mumbled, just as confused as I was.

âI always heard that Noah treated her like some princess,â she added right after, and I scoffed.
Something was wrong here, but it was nothing about Noah.
âIf one hair on her head is missing, Iâm going to have you and your entire family burned for daring to touch a Royal.â
Every muscle in me tightened as I processed Noahâs words.
I was the Royal.

âI told you he was my mate,â Liv gloated in my head, and I gritted my teeth in anger.
âNoah?â I called out as I stepped out of my hiding place.
The way he turned from that one call was frighteningly fast, and I found myself unable to process what was happening in front of me.
Was Noah really with Tyla?
If he was, why would he treat her that way?
And Tyla? Golden student?
None of it made any sense at this point.
