Irene.

Noah and Alek were in some heated conversation when I entered and it’s either both of them didn’t mind me being there or they didn’t sense me as they showed no reaction to my presence.

“Are you telling me that I’m at fault for saving her from those three?” Noah asked, his hands folded in front of him while his stance showed a fierce defiance to Alek.

“You could have been more subtle. There’s no reason to declare she’s your woman.”

“Why? She’s my woman!” He shot back, and Alek turned to look at me, his eyes lingering on my b*dy for some seconds too long before he turned away.

“We will continue this conversation when Elton comes back.”

The finality in his tone has Noah backing down, and he turns to me.

“Irene!”

“I had some matters to handle, so I left school earlier. Later, we can use the same schedule,” he explained with that charming smile that had warmed my heart in the first place.

But this time around, I knew better.

“You don’t have to, I don’t mind coming back with Sam.”

There was no deceit, and I could rest my head easy.

Noah’s face fell, and he glanced at my wrist. “You haven’t removed your bracelet?”

I look up at the exact same time that Alek looks at me, our gaze meeting.

“He gave me the key…”

“Without instructions,” I added, and Alek nodded.

“We have no interest in keeping you weak, Irene, I just didn’t want you both dealing with the mate pull when there were more pressing matters.”

I nodded, a little relieved that he had locked it only because of what happened earlier.

Noah said nothing, but his gaze was glued to my wrist. After what I heard today, I had no interest in feeling the pull to him or anything along that line.

A part of me even hoped that it was some mistake, like something that could rewritten.

Maybe after hearing about Kyla, Liv would know that he was not the right one for her.

I took a deep breath and then took the key that I had held in my palm this whole time to unlock the bracelet.

Just one second of the bracelet falling down, and that intense longing and pull hit me.

I glanced sideways, confirming that Noah was not any different.

His

eyes were soft and incredibly tender as he looked at me.

Some hours ago, I would have felt like the luckiest girl to get paired with him by the moon goddess.

Yet, Noah’s tender gaze made me hate myself even more. Because all of this was just his reaction to my wolf, outside that reaction, Noah didn’t belong to me.

If only there were some way to end this, “stop this nonsense, Liv,” I chided.

“Stop what? Claiming what’s mine?” Liv shot back, determined not to back down..

“He’s not for you!” I yelled back, gritting my teeth in anger.

Two pairs of eyes fell on me, and I flushed, embarrassed.

“I was talking to my wolf,” I explained hurriedly. Alek looked away, his eyes going back to the medium screen in front of him while Noah sent me a wink.

Tingles raced through my skin from the very action, and I cursed internally.

Liv was going to be the end of me.

The doors opened, and my b*dy tensed for no reason.

Well, not for no reason. I knew exactly why it felt like I had air stuck in my chest and why my fists were clenched tightly in my lap.

Two figures entered the room, and a high–pitched giggle rang out as Elton leaned into some girl’s

embrace.

I don’t know what I expected, but breathing becomes harder, and I feel a certain urge to shred the woman in his arms.

“What the fuck?” Noah cursed out behind me, and I turned just in time to see Alek raise his head

As he saw Elton walking in with a blonde girl who was half n*ked, his jaw clenched.

“Sorry we are late, Elton said in a lazy drawl as he settled into the seat across me while the blonde sat close to Alek.

His eyes met mine, and like every time, it’s like his icy blue eyes cast a freezing spell on me, and I’m frozen in time or under his spell.

“If it isn’t my favourite damsel in distress.”

“Have you forgotten what time it is?” Noah questioned, and I’m grateful that he took the attention away from me.

Elton’s l*ps curled up into a smirk, “and her Prince Charming.” he adds, his gaze not leaving mine.

Noah growled, the sound reverberating through the room, and Liv responded with a similar growl escaping my l*ps..

Liv’s feelings were drowning out mine, for I grabbed the chair handles to stop myself from throwing a punch at Elton.

“Get out.”

Two words from Alek, and the blonde stood up and ran.

“Until when are you going to stop acting out of line?” His voice was barely higher than his regular voice, yet the anger and pure rage in them were impossible to miss.

“Act of line?”

“Noah has his little mate here. Why can’t I have a girl over?” Elton said with a dismissive shrug, and his gaze rested on me.

Alek’s eyes glowed bright, and for a moment, I thought he would lose control and transform. I could see how close his wolf was to his skin.

“Don’t you dare compare Irene to some slut you want to spend the night with, Elton?”

“There’s only so much I’ll let you get away with.”

Elton’s brows raised upwards, and he burst into a low chuckle, with all three of us looking at him. weirdly.

“You need to loosen up, brother…” Elton started, and his gaze moved to Noah.

“Besides, you have to get this Prince Charming in control. Word on the street claims that Irene is his woman.”

“Don’t make this about me,” Noah snapped, and for a moment, I wondered how these brothers. used to be before now.

Alek’s words answered my question very quickly.

He was the glue that held them together. Just now, he hadn’t gone easy on Noah for saving me and making that declaration.

But right now, he was supporting him with Noah’s exact words.

Elton scoffed and dropped the topic.

Silence filled the room for the next few minutes until Alek broke the silence by clearing his throat.

“I talked to the council members and alphas in morning court. All of them already know Irene is our breeder. Before dawn breaks, almost everyone would know this news.”

This was it–my fate.

I was still going to be their breeder.

“This doesn’t make any sense,” Noah argued, his hands reaching for mine under the table.

His palm is warm and comforting. However, I didn’t want him putting up a fight when he had someone he liked.

So, I pulled my hand away.

“I don’t think I have an opinion on this, but just in case I do, I agree with His Majesty.”

Keeping their breeder meant my heart was safe, even if my b*dy wouldn’t belong to me.

Yet, the whimpering from Liv makes me feel like I made some wrong decision.
