Chapter Six - Hang out
Lincoln P.O.V -
"I think it's weird." Wyatt chimed from the drivers seat.
"It's not weird." I countered. "I'm just stopping by their school to see if they want to hang out."
"Kind of stalkery." Wyatt shrugged.
"It's not." I mumbled. We were quiet for a few moments. "Wait, what if he thinks it's weird? Maybe we should make up a story as to why we're there."
Wyatt laughed. "Oh we were just driving pasts on our way to the supermarket, I thought you might want to help us pick out tomatoes." He spoke in a voice imitating me.
"We don't need any tomatoes, pick a different vegetable." I told him.
He rolled his eyes. "That's the only problem in that story? Maybe I should just turn around."
"No it's too late now." I insisted as the car pulled into the school car park.
"Fine." He sighed. "Maybe this way I can ask how Lucy's doing."
"I thought you texted her." I said as he parked.
He groaned. "She hasn't responded, it's driving me insane."
"You didn't mention it." I looked at him.
"Cause I'm not as whiny as you." He smirked.
I narrowed my eyes at him before getting out of the car. "I'm not that whiny."
"Whatever you say." Wyatt climbed out walking over to me.
I noticed Oliver staring at us from a few meters away. "Why are you two here?"
"We thought you and Milo might want to come over to my house, where is he anyway?" I asked glancing around.
"I don't know." He answered nonchalantly. "He didn't come in today."
My heart couldn't help but speed up. "W-what? You didn't text him to find out why?"
"No, I didn't think much of it." Oliver responded. "He's probably ill or something."
Ill? Werewolves don't get ill so I wasn't sure how to react.
"I'll call him now." Oliver suggested as I nodded frantically.
After a quick phone call I felt at ease, as did Wyatt who heard that Lucy was feeling better.
"We can go pick him up now." Oliver said.
"Great." I let out.

I got out of the car with Milo, I kept looking towards him to find out his reaction. Hopefully we would live here together some day, he needed to love it.
"Is it just you and your parents who live here?" He asked me slightly dazed.
"Oliver's family and Cora's family live here along with a few others." I stuffed my hands into my pockets.
"Oh really, how come?" He asked following after Oliver and Wyatt who had entered the house.
"My dad, Oliver's dad and Cora's dad started this business together." I attempted to lie.
"What's the business?" He questioned with an odd expression.
I stuttered unable to think of an answer before cursing.
"Why are you lying?" He frowned at me.
My heart sped up. "The truth is my dad won the lottery but he doesn't really like telling people."
I felt relieved as he dropped the subjects before complimenting the home which made me grin.
"That's weird my mom said she'd be here when I got hom-" I was cut of by my mothers familiar voice.
"Baby boy!" She exclaimed as my cheeks blushed.
Her expression fell as she spotted Milo her eyes widening slightly but a smile was still on her face although now it looked fake. "Who's this?"
"I'm Milo." He smiled politely holding out his hand which she rejected. He took his hand away confused. "It's nice to meet you."
I noticed she had began to mindlink someone, probably my dad. I caught my fathers scent as he paced down the stairs immediately comforting my mother.
"Bella? What's wrong?" I could see how worried he was for his mate.
"There's a human." My mother attempted to whisper but due to her panic she was loud enough Milo could here her. I hoped he hadn't taken much notice to what she said.
It was then my dad noticed that someone else was here. He looked Milo up and down in caution.
"Lincoln who is this?" He glared.
"This is Milo." I replied.
'He's my mate.' I mindlinked my parents.
"Really?" My father asked as both their eyes widened.
I just nodded in response. They both looked at him again a look of approval was now covering my dad's face.
"Should I go?" Milo spoke. We must look so weird to him right now.
"No!" I insisted. "Just go down the hallway, Wyatt and Oliver are in the third door on the left." My voice now calmer.
"Uh okay." He mumbled hastily walking away.
"Sorry son, we didn't know it was him." My father apologized once he had left.
"That was such an awkward conversation." I grumbled tugging at my hair slightly.
"But you know how your mother feels about humans at the moment, you should have gave us a warning." He scolded.
"Of course." I looked over to my mom who still looked slightly shaken. "I'm sorry mom."
"I'm happy for you." She forced out the words.
I smiled at her. "Thanks mom."
"Does he know about us?" My dad asked.
I shook my head. "Not yet, he might be starting to figure it out. There was a pack member running near the car on our drive here."
"I wouldn't be surprised if he's already worked it out, you don't seem to be hiding it very well." He spoke amused.
"We're only just getting to know each other, we haven't even gone on a date yet." I shrugged.
"Knowing you, you haven't even asked." My dad responded shoving my shoulder. "Now go talk to your mate he's probably confused."
"Right!" I nodded walking away.
Milo and I spoke briefly before he fell asleep. Once he woke up he quickly left with Oliver.
"You're really awkward." Wyatt told me as we walk into the kitchen.
I grabbed some chips from the cupboard turning to him. "No i'm not. Anyway you're just as bad with Lucy."
"I'm more subtle, she has a boyfriend I can't be as straightforward as you." He grumbled.
I rolled my eyes as Cole and Cora walked in. "Hey Cora." I greeted.
"Hi." She smiled. "Cole came here to say something."
He huffed crossing his arms. "Sorry for punching your stupid mate."
"Cole." Cora scolded slapping him lightly.
"I apologized, what more do you want?" He growled.
I gripped his collar. "If you want to be a true member of this pack you better show me some fucking respect, I am your alpha!"
"Lincoln." Cora spoke quietly. "He's trying, he's still getting used to being in a pack."
I released him watching as he sulked away. "He better learn soon or he's out of my pack."
"He will." Cora nodded before following after her mate.

I walked down the stairs still yawning. Giggling echoed from the living room. I looked to see Wyatt laying on the sofa laughing while talking on the phone.
I scoffed. "I thought you was a girl."
He pulled the phone away from his ear with a scowl. "Shut up, I'm in the middle of a conversation."
"Who is it?" I asked. I waited for a moment for him to answer but he ignored me.
I lunged forward snatching the phone from him holding it to my ear. "Hello?"
"Lincoln give me the phone!" He jumped up. "I mean it."
"Oh, hi Lincoln." Lucy spoke awkwardly. "I was just telling Wyatt that he should come hang out with us at the mall."
"Wyatt doesn't like shopping." I told her, despite the fact that he enjoys it.
"But he said he loves it?" She responded confused.
Wyatt looked at me alarmed. "Give it to me right now."
"He can't stand it Cora drags him there and he whines the whole time." I smirked and Wyatt's anger.
"Uh, so he doesn't want to hang out then?" Lucy questioned.
"I mean I doubt it but-" The phone was yanked from me.
"Lucy! I'm so sorry about Lincoln, I don't know what he's talking about." He then rambled on about all the shops he goes to and how often he visits.
I reached for the phone. "Lucy, I was lying my apologies. Now hopefully Wyatt will shut up."
They continued to talk for a few minutes before he hung up. "Alright get ready we're going out."
"Where?" I grumbled.
"Where do you think?" Wyatt deadpanned. "To meet Lucy at the mall."
"Is Milo there?" I asked now interested.
"I don't know, probably." He shrugged. "He's usually there when we meet Lucy."
"Fine, i'll come." I agreed.

As Wyatt pulled into the mall car park I shifted in my seat nervous but still excited to see my mate.
"You'd think this was your first time meeting your mate." Wyatt rolled his eyes as he parked.
"I'm just excited okay?" I replied jumping out as soon as the car stopped.
Wyatt followed behind me not quite as enthusiastic as me, possibly because he didn't want to see his mate with her boyfriend.
We wandered around the mall for a few minutes as we searched for our mates scent's.
"This way." Wyatt told me turning into the food court.
My eyes scanned the table until eventually I spotted Lucy and Oliver sat together. I wonder where Milo is.
We made our way to the table. "Hey guys." Wyatt greeted sitting opposite Lucy.
"Hi." I smiled politely sitting beside Wyatt and opposite Oliver.
"Hey i'm glad you could come." Lucy grinned mainly talking to Wyatt.
"Yeah, glad you two came." Oliver glared slightly at Wyatt.
"Where Milo?" I asked attempting to look around discretely.
"Oh he's not here." Oliver told me.
My mood dropped instantly. I'm just going to have to sit here and watch Oliver and Wyatt fight over Lucy. Lucy's phone vibrated on the table. "It's Milo." She said before answering the phone.
I sat up straighter paying close attention.
"Hey Milo, what's up?" She answered.
I try to listen into the conversation but everyone around us were to loud.
She giggled. "Sounds like fun."
I manage to hear a loud bang from Milo's side of the call. It sounded like a gun shot. My heart sped up as I tried to figure out what had happened.
"Has your dad taken you hunting again?" She rolled her eyes.
The mall had quietened down enough for me to hear him now.
"Yeah, apparently he hasn't killed a deer in too long." He scoffed.
Lucy pulls the phone away from her ear. "You should go save him."
Oliver takes the phone from Lucy. "Milo meet me in the den."
"Yeah alright, call me when you get here." Milo hung up the phone.
"Uh Lincoln you should go with Oliver." Lucy told me.
I nodded wanting to see my mate. "Okay."
"Are you sure?" Oliver asks as he glanced between Lucy and Wyatt.
"Yes." She gave him a pointed look.
He glared slightly. "Fine."
We walked out of the mall and got into Oliver's car. We sat in silence as he began to drive. I was beginning to realize Oliver and I had never really spoken.
He stopped outside a smallish home which looked somewhat run down. It had an American flag hanging out of a window.
"It's just through the trees." Oliver told me as he got out of the car.
I just nodded following after him. We reached a small hut build from branches and sticks. A few old cushions were thrown onto the floor and a string of lights were hanging from the roof.
Oliver pulled out his phone texting someone, I assumed Milo to tell him we were here.
"Do you know what's going on with Lucy and Wyatt?" He asked out of the blue.
"Uh, isn't this something you should ask Lucy?" I responded not sure what I was supposed to say.
"Just answer the question." He grumbled.
"I don't think I should." I responded.
"I'm not sure why Lucy and Milo are so fond of you two." He gritted out before moving to sit on one of the pillows in the hut. I did the same sitting on the furthest one.
After a few awkward minutes there was rustling of footsteps as Milo walked in. He held a shot gun and had dirt covering his jeans.
"You look like you're having fun." Oliver smirked at him.
"Haha." He responded in a monotone voice. "Hey Lincoln." He smiled over at me before sitting down on the ground obviously not caring about the mud.
"Lucy sent us here so she could talk with Wyatt." Oliver sulked.
"Jesus Christ, chill out." Milo rolled his eyes.
"Blasphemy." Oliver smirked slightly.
"Oh I don't care." Milo huffed crossing his arms.
"You're such a great Catholic." Oliver responded making me laugh.
Milo smiled at me. "Something funny?"
"No not at all." I grinned. "You definitely follow the bible."
"Totally, it's not like I've had sex before marriage or I'm gay or anything." He chuckled.
My mood dampened slightly as he mentioned he has had sex, not that I didn't know that already, but I didn't like the reminder.
"How come you still go to church then?" Oliver asked him while flicking through a magazine he found on the floor.
"So my mum isn't by herself." He shrugged. "I haven't been the last couple weeks because Mark's been going with her."
"Who's Mark?" I asked him.
"My mum's boyfriend." Milo answered.
"Another one?" A rough voice sounded from the entrance of the den.
Milo cursed turning to look at the man who had now entered. He carried the same shotgun as Milo had, his beard was scruffy and he had a somewhat obvious beer belly hanging over his cargo shorts.
"She was going to tell you." Milo spoke in a quiet tone now looking uncomfortable.
He scoffed. "I bet she was."
"Dad, I only met him a couple weeks ago." Milo scratched the back of his neck.
This is Milo's dad? I sat up straighter wanting to make a good impression.
"Would it hurt her to give me a quick phone call to tell me." Milo's dad gritted out.
Milo stood, silently staring at the ground. Milo's dad looked around before stopping on me.
"Milo, who's this?" He narrowed his eyes at me.
Milo glanced at me quickly before looking at the floor once again. "That's Lincoln, he's a new friend."
"Right." He nodded looking me up and down. "It's nice to know Milo's not just friends with a load of girls. I was starting to think he was a fag or something."
Milo winced at his words while my wolf growled in my head. "I've been friends with Oliver for years."
"He doesn't count, he's your friends boyfriend." He insisted.
Oliver spoke up. "Milo and I were friends before-"
"Don't talk back to me boy." He raised his voice slightly.
Oliver shook his head before reading the magazine again.
"Come on son, tell your friends to leave so we can continue." He said before walking out.
"Uh, well goodbye." Milo mumbled following after his dad.
"I guess we should go then." Oliver stood up with a frown, he stuffed his hands in his pockets before walking away. I quickly followed after him.
