Chapter Fifty One - New Year's Eve

Lincoln's P.O.V -

I couldn't decide whether I like hearing about what Milo used to be like, especially when it comes to his sex life.

"So when he was fourteen he started dating Rita, you've met her you two went to her party." Lucy began her story about Milo.

I nodded as did Wyatt but he looked slightly confused.

"He dated her for about six months and it was going perfectly, they were saying I love you and everything." Lucy explained. "I really liked her and we became quite good friends. Then Milo had sex with her."

"What's wrong with that?" Wyatt asked. "They were dating."

"That's what I thought when Rita called me and excitedly told me what happened." Lucy turned to look at Milo. "But then the very next day she called me again, crying, and told me about how Milo dumped her without an explanation over text."

Wyatt gaped at him and I felt my eyes widening. Milo sounded like he used to be very different, my wolf was annoyed at the mention of our mate with someone else.

"Milo." Cora gasped. "That's so mean."

"I was young." Milo defended. "And she's forgiven me."

"Milo had so many girls after him, when he started dating Nate their reactions were priceless." Lucy laughed.

"Nate?" Wyatt asked. "I've met him right."

"Yeah." Milo nodded. "The drunk guy at my house the first time you came round."

"Right." Wyatt nodded. "The night Lincoln had to leave because you turned him on by touching his hand."

Milo turned to look at me with a laugh. I ignored him and glared at Wyatt.

"Alright we're done with this conversation." I mumbled. "I'm tired, I'm going to bed."

"It was a joke." Wyatt said once I stood up.

"Milo, you coming?" I asked him.

"Sure." Milo smiled standing up and grabbing his crutches.

As we walked out I noticed that his cast had changed, he was actually putting his foot on the ground.

"Is that an upgrade or a downgrade?" I asked gesturing to his leg.

"A definite upgrade." Milo told me. "I can start putting more and more weight on my leg until I don't need crutches to walk anymore."

"You're walking a lot slower." I commented.

"Oh sorry." He apologized. "I won't walk on it, it'll make me faster."

"No don't worry." I told him. "I don't mind."

I did mind, I hated walking slowly but it wasn't Milo's fault and he was my mate so I would be patient with him.

"Okay." He looked up at me. "I can't wait until I don't need crutches anymore."

"Yeah they seem like a nightmare." I said as we finally reached my room.

He sat down on the bed and handed the crutches to me.

"Try it." He told me.

So I did. I smiled as I moved around the room.

"This isn't too bad." I looked over to him. "It's kind of fun."

"Yeah at first, but once you've been using them for a couple days it get's old." He said as he started fiddling with his broken leg.

I just nodded placing the crutches on the floor beside him. He started taking his boot off and I frowned in confusion.

"You can take it off?" I asked with a smile.

"Yeah, isn't that great." He spoke excitedly. "I can see my leg again, It's disgusting but at least it's there."

"Why is it disgusting?" I chuckled watching him take the boot off.

"My leg hasn't seen the light of day in several weeks, so my legs all pale and flaky." He explained. "And I haven't been able to wash it so it smells."

I shook my head with a smile. "It's not that bad." I said once he got the boot of and showed his leg. "I mean your legs don't really match though."

"Yeah." He nodded with a laugh. "I've got a skinny chicken leg, while my other one has been getting bigger from being used all the time."

"Does it hurt?" I asked sitting beside him glancing at the scar on his leg from the surgery he had.

"No." Milo answered. "My ankle kind of hurts from how stiff it is, I can't really move my foot."

He tried to move it but it only shifted slightly.

"That's me trying to do a circle." He mused.

I smiled standing up. "I'm going to get ready for bed."

It was new years eve and we were having a party for the pack, as we usually do each year. Ten minutes ago the house was empty and now it was packed with people. Our pack members are very punctual, the majority arrived at the time we asked.

"Hey Dad." I smiled once I spotted him.

He was talking to a few pack members who nodded their head in greeting. I smiled at them before turning my attention to my dad.

"I'm guessing mum is staying in her room tonight?" I asked already knowing the answer.

"Yes, I offered to stay with her but she insisted that I come down here." He explained. "A few of her friends have gone to visit her."

"That's nice." I smiled. "Have you seen Milo?"

Usually I would just follow his scent but with so many people it was impossible.

"Son, I'm not keeping tabs on your mate." He chuckled. "He'll be around here somewhere."

"But I've already asked Wyatt, Cole and Cora and none of them have seen him since the party started." I tried my hardest to relax. "I've called him like five times but he hasn't answered."

"Just keep looking, you'll find him soon." My dad said before turning back to his conversation.

I took some deep breaths. He wouldn't have left the house, he might be in the bathroom or somewhere in this crowd. It was loud in here so he wouldn't be able to hear his phone ringing.

He's not in danger. He's safe. I'm safe.

I continued to walk around looking for my mate. When another five minutes had passed I had begun to panic, my breath was shallow and my hands shook. The amount of people around me definitely wasn't helping me to relax.

I entered the kitchen and saw several people grabbing drinks and a few people sat around the island. One of them was Milo.

Relief washed over me when I spotted him laughing at something someone had said. I rushed over to him and wrapped my arms around him, I buried my head in his neck and breathed in his scent.

"Hi?" Milo spoke confused.

I pulled my head from his neck but didn't remove my arms from around him. "I couldn't find you."

His face softened as he looked up at me. "I'm fine Lincoln."

"I know." I was finally able to breath normally again. I looked to see that the people Milo was talking to were all staring at me.

It was the pack members he had become friends with in his first week at school.

"Hi Alpha." Ella smiled widely at me.

She was sat on Kyle's lap, Milo was sat beside Louis and opposite them was Lilly and Chloe.

"Hi." I smiled awkwardly. "Having fun?"

They just nodded. No one said anything for a few moments until Milo started laughing.

"How are you their Alpha when you're this awkward?" Milo asked. "Sit down."

He gestured to the empty seat beside him. I nodded and sat down, still no one spoke. Maybe I should leave so they could get back to their conversation?

"Ella was just explaining that she's mad at Kyle." Milo told me.

I looked over to them confused. "You don't look angry?"

Her face lit up. "Exactly, the idea is not to shout at him or argue. If I get him frustrated then he'll apologize and we'll have make up sex."

"Does it work?" I asked reaching to grab Milo's hand.

She nodded. "Every time."

Kyle rolled his eyes. "It doesn't work."

"Kyle is notoriously stubborn so he won't apologize for anything." Lilly joined the conversation. "So Ella teases and grinds on him in until he gives in and fucks her."

"Don't be crude." Chloe spoke quietly and it was hard to hear her over the music.

"What did he do anyway?" I spoke curiously.

"He called her fat." Milo answered.

My eyes widened. "Kyle, you can't do that."

He rolled his eyes. "Can we please stop taking it out of context? You're making it sound worse than it actually was."

"Sorry, I'll explain." Ella shifted on Kyle's lap. "I found out that I'm pregnant, so I told Kyle immediately and the very first thing he said was that he finally understood why I was suddenly fat."

Louis and Milo snickered at the story while Lilly shook her head in annoyance.

"You know what." Kyle sighed. "Let's go back to it being out of context, it sounded better then."

"Congratulations Ella." I smiled at her.

"See." She pointed at me and looked over at Kyle. "That's what you're supposed to say, you're supposed to be excited."

He picked up his drink taking a large sip.

"Are you excited?" She asked him not taking her eyes off her mate.

He placed his drink down and stared at her without saying anything. The longer the silence the more Ella's face fell.

She slowly got off Kyle and moved to the chair beside him. "Do you guys want to go dance?"

Lilly smiled at her. "Chloe and I will come with you."

The girls stood up quickly leaving as Ella's eyes teared up. Kyle watched his mate leave the kitchen before turning to us with a sigh.

"Now she's mad, when she's doing that teasing me shit she's not actually mad, when she walks away is when she's mad." Kyle seemed down as he spoke about his mate.

"Are you surprised?" Louis asked him. "She doesn't think you want the kid."

"I didn't say I didn't want it." He gritted out.

"Yeah you said nothing, that's so much worse." Milo explained. "At least if you voiced how you felt she would understand where your head's at."

"She want's to know where my head's at?" He gripped his glass tightly and I was concerned he'd break it. "Okay here's where my head's at. I'm fucking terrified, I never wanted a kid this young and I'm not ready but it's happening and I don't have a choice so all I can do is deal with it."

"Tell her that." I suggested. "She probably feels the same."

"No she doesn't." He grumbled. "She's so excited, we only found out a couple days ago and she's already told everyone and has a box of baby clothes in our room."

"You should talk to Cole." Milo suggested. "He'll understand."

"Yeah that's if he talks to me without threatening to kill me." Kyle deadpanned.

"He's not that bad." Milo laughed.

Kyle looked at me for answers.

"I've got to agree with Kyle on that one." I told Milo.

"He's surprisingly nice." Milo insisted and even Louis laughed at that.

"Milo the first time you met him he punched you in the face." I reminded him.

"He called me a bitch and told me my mate didn't love me." Cole came out of nowhere. "So I think he deserved it."

"He's not wrong." Milo shrugged sparing me a glance.

"Anyway, I heard you talking about me." Cole remained standing despite Milo gesturing for him to sit down.

"Kyle needs some advice." I told him.

"From me?" Cole looked between us all cautiously. "Is he planning to go rogue or something?"

"My mate is pregnant." He mumbled not looking at Cole.

"And he's scared." Louis added for him.

"Oh." Cole frowned. "How am I supposed to help with that?"

"You're going through the same thing." Milo explained. "So could you talk to him?"

Cole stared at Milo in annoyance and I could tell he was about to reject the invitation.

"If you talk to him then I'll give Cora tomorrow off so that she can spend time with you." I mindlinked him. His eyes snapped over to me and he smirked.

"Two days." He wagered.

"Fine." I said shutting off the mindlink.

Cole turned back to Milo still looking annoyed but now he was more compliant. "Fine, go away."

"I'm the one with the broken leg can you two just-" Cole cut off Milo.

"Do you want me to talk to him or not?" Cole questioned to which Milo sighed.

"Fine." Milo stood up grabbing his crutches. "We better find somewhere else to sit, do you know how difficult it is to walk through a crowd with crutches?"

Louis just shook his head as he also stood up. We made our way through the crowd looking for somewhere else to sit.

"Louis!" A voice called and we all turned to look at who was talking. Bella, Louis' mate not my mum, was stood a few feet away smiling at him. "I've been looking for you."

Louis' face lit up as he stared at her, no one else could make him smile like that. I glanced down at Milo with an equally bright face, It's the wonderful effect that mates have on each other.

Milo sense me watching him and looked up, his eyes met mine and he stared at me for a moment with an unfamiliar emotion in his eyes before he turned back to Louis.

"Why don't you go spend some time with Bella? There's something I need to talk to Lincoln about anyway." He told Louis who smiled and walked over to his mate.

My heart dropped and my chest tightened. What did he want to talk about? I racked my brain trying to find an answer, I had already explained to him how the therapy session went. We had spoken about it in depth and I had realized that it was what I needed. Nothing has happened since so why did he want to talk?

Milo must have noticed my tense posture so he gripped my hand and let out a soft laugh. "Trust me it's not bad, not at all, you'll be excited."

I felt my body relax and my anxiety decrease but I was still confused about what it could be. At least it was good rather than bad, lately it seemed like all my conversations with Milo were about negative things.

"Let's go to your room." He suggested.

I nodded, he let go of my hand so he could hold his crutches and we began to walk through the crowd again.

"Lincoln!" Wyatt called appearing in front of us. "Milo, he finally found you then? Where are you two going?"

"I have to talk to Lincoln about something quickly." Milo explained. "We'll be back in about ten minutes."

Oh, so it was a short conversation then? If that was the case then it can't be that important.

"Alright." Wyatt smiled. "I'll see you two in a bit then."

"Has Lucy got here yet?" Milo asked before Wyatt could walk away.

Wyatt shook his head. "No, but she just texted me saying that she's on her way."

Milo nodded and we watched Wyatt disappear into the crowd before finally making our way to my room.

"So." I flopped down onto the bed before propping myself up on my elbows to look at Milo who was stood in front of me. "What did you want to talk about?"

Milo smirked taking a few steps forward and placing a hand on my knee. I sat up and pulled him into my lap pulling him into a kiss.

After a few moment he pulled a way. "I wanted to talk about tonight." Milo stated as he shifted so that he was straddling me.

I wrapped my arms around his waist. "What about tonight?" I mumbled not really caring anymore, I was much more interested in the position that we were in.

"I figured that there's are two options for when it strikes midnight." He dipped his head into my neck placing kisses from my jaw down to my collar bone.

"Yeah?" I breathed. "What are the options?"

"We could spend the night with friends and get really drunk and celebrate together." He spoke quietly as he pulled his head away. He then rocked his hips teasingly. "Or you could fuck me into the new year."

My breath caught in my throat causing me to cough and splutter. Milo chuckled and moved a hand so that it was resting on my chest.

"Are you serious?" I spoke in disbelief.

He nodded, his eyes never left mine.

"Well, I think you already know what my answer is." I told him, my hands moved down to the hem of his jumper and tugged at it gently.

I caught his lips with mine and began to pull his jumper up but he pulled away quickly.

"Lincoln, it's nine o'clock." Milo said pulling my hands off his jumper. "We're not having sex until midnight."

I groaned and gripped his jumper. "You can't do that to me."

He moved a hand over my crotch feeling my tented trousers. He smirked removing his hand before looking at me again.

"Well I can fix that another way." He moved off my lap and dropped to his knees. "But if I do, you better still have energy for later."

"I will." I spoke without any doubt.

He reached forward to touch the hem of my trousers and removed them without breaking eye contact.

I just stared at him in amazement and thanked whoever decided to bless me with such an incredible mate.
