Chapter Twenty Five - Accepted

Lincoln's P.O.V -

I finally went back to school a couple days later because Milo got mad when he found out I still hadn't gone. I struggled to keep up with the teachers having missed so many classes, I was also given tonnes of homework to do by next week which I definitely do not have time for. It was finally Friday and I could relax by going to visit Milo.

"Don't bother going to Milo's house." Lucy told me through the phone half an hour after school ended. "He's coming to your's."

"What? Why?" I asked putting down my car keys and pulling off my jacket.

"He wants to see your mum." Lucy explained.

"Isn't he on bed rest?" I sighed. "He should stay in bed."

"I think bed rest means to take it easy." She sounded amused. "We're almost here."

She hung up. I stuffed my phone into my pocket as Wyatt walked in.

"Who was that?" He sipped a glass of water.

"Lucy." I replied.

"Should I be jealous of you calling my mate?" He smirked.

"She was just telling me that her and Milo are on their way over." I explained.

There was a knock on the door which I opened straight away.

"Milo hey." I smiled at him. "Gianna it's nice to see you." I greeted her.

Milo was tiredly stood with his crutches and Gianna looked rather annoyed that she was here, obviously not wanting to be surrounded by werewolves.

"Well let's not just stand here." Lucy said walking into the house.

"My mum is sleeping downstairs at the moment for convenience." I explained. "It's down here."

I walked slowly so that Milo could keep up. When we eventually reached the room I knocked lightly on the door.

My dad opened the door gesturing for Milo to come in. Gianna was about to follow but I stopped her.

"I'm sorry but my mum doesn't do well with lots of people in the room at once right now. Especially strangers." I explained. "She's not even comfortable with me yet so I'd appreciate if you waited out here."

"Oh okay." She seemed to not want to let Milo out of her sight but the door closed and she had no choice.

"He's safe, you don't need to worry." I told her.

She sighed. "You have to understand why I don't want him around you."

"I get it." I nodded. "You blame me for what happened but I never wanted anything like this to happen. I worked so hard to find him, I hardly slept or ate for weeks."

"It's not your fault." She mumbled. "Not fully anyway, but by association he got in danger and I can't let that happen again. I've lost one child due to them getting in the wrong crowd, I'm not letting the same thing happen to Milo."

"I'm sorry for your loss." I told her as this was all I could think to say.

"My daughter died because her friends invited her to a party which turned out to be a very dangerous situation." She blinked quickly in an attempt not to cry. "And it just seems that you are no better than my daughter's friends, you've put Milo in a situation where he is in danger."

"I've ensured that the people who hurt Milo can't anymore." I told her hoping this would reassure her but instead she turned to me with wide eyes.

"You killed them?" She spoke astonished. "My son's dating a murderer." She spoke more to herself this time.

I winced realizing I shouldn't have said that. "They were trying to kill me and my family, they wouldn't have hesitated to kill Milo."

"Honestly." She clenched her fists before opening her hands again. "If I could, I would go back in time and murder the people who killed my daughter. Them sitting in prison isn't enough justice for me."

"She was killed?" I asked with wide eyes.

"Milo hasn't spoken to you about Ana yet?" She asked. "That's not surprising, he hates talking about what happened to her. He used to blame himself for it, it's why he became depressed."

"Oh." I looked down at the ground.

No wonder Milo was on antidepressants if he blamed himself for his sisters death.

"You'll have to ask him about it. I suppose if he hasn't said anything yet it means he's not ready." She said.

I nodded glancing at the door leading to my mum's room. I wanted to go in and see what was going on but I knew I couldn't. I felt slightly uncomfortable around Gianna because I knew she disproved of me and I wasn't sure how to fix that.

"I love your son." I blurted out. Why did I say that?

She huffed looking away from me. "Are we really having this conversation right now?"

"Apparently." I mumbled under my breath.

"I don't like how you two are acting as if you are married rather than two teenagers in high school." She mumbled.

"Were you not listening when I explained mates to you?" I asked confused.

"I was slightly more focused on the fact that I just found out werewolves exist." She glared at me.

I was ready to explain everything to her again when my dad stepped out of the room.

"What's going on?" He asked with an oblivious smile.

"I was about to explain mates to Milo's mum." I answered him.

"Why don't I do it? You always take to long to explain anything." My dad suggested. "They're your soulmate, love of your life and you die without them."

"You can also become seriously depressed and go insane." I added.

"I'm sorry, who are you?" Gianna looked at my dad confused.

"Oh, my apologies." He laughed. "I'm Andrew, Lincoln's father."

Gianna nodded at him before looking at me. "Fine."

"Fine?" I repeated.

"I'll accept you as my son's boyfriend." She told me much to my surprise.

"Mate." I corrected her. "You're son's mate."

"Don't push it." She scolded me.

"Right." I nodded. "Sorry."

I could stop a smile forming on my face, Milo would be so happy if Gianna and I got along and this was the first step. After that maybe I can get his dad to like me, well that's if Milo tells his dad that he's gay.

"So I'll assume that you're Milo's mum." My dad gave her a polite smile.

"Yes." She spoke a stiff smile on her face. "My name is Gianna."

They began some small talk, they spoke about usual mundane adult topics before moving to talk about my mum and Milo.

"I'm glad to here that you're son is doing better." My dad told her.

She smiled genuinely this time. "Thank you. How is your wife doing?"

"She's getting there." He replied. "Still a long road ahead though."

My dad must have noticed my boredom a few minutes later and decided to speak to me.

"Lincoln, why don't you go wait with Wyatt and his mate." He suggested.

"Okay." I nodded turning away from them and walking down the hall towards my friends.

"Okay so then I was going to punch her in the face, but then I remembered she was human and doing that would probably break her nose. Even though she was mean there is no way I'd break someone's nose because the nose is one of the most important parts of the face. It decides whether you're pretty or not." Victoria recited a story about when she went to the mall early to day. "So anyway, this girl was kind of pretty. Not more than me though."

I stopped listening as she started to describe the girl in excruciating detail. Wyatt was listening intently to the story and Lucy was on her phone just nodding along to what my sister said.

"She had this cute birthmark on her neck, at first I thought it was a hickey, It's kind of shaped like a star." She was cut of by Lucy who looked up.

"That bitch?" Lucy suddenly sounded very interested. "She goes to my school, she's the worst. You should've hit her."

Victoria clapped in excitement before animatedly continuing the story. Lucy was now engaged saying little snide comments about the girl every so often.

I was beyond relieved when Gianna and Milo entered stopping Victoria's story. She stood up introducing herself to Gianna politely, something I found unusual.

Milo hobbled over passing the empty armchair before sitting next to me on the couch.  I smiled at him but decided not to do anything else, I wanted to hold his hand or kiss his cheek but with Gianna in the room I concluded that wasn't the best idea.

"How did your talk with my mum go?" I asked him.

"Well." He replied shortly. "How did your talk with my mum go? I could here you two talking outside the room."

"Good actually." I answered. "She said she accepted me as your boyfriend."

Milo nodded before yawning and resting his head on my shoulder. I spared a cautious glance at Gianna but she was focused on her conversation with Victoria. I kissed his head before resting my head on his.

"Aw aren't you two cute." Lucy grinned as she moved from the floor to Wyatt's lap as there wasn't enough space on the couch for her to sit.

"Shut up." Milo mumbled tiredly.

"There's a party tonight, I think we should go." Lucy announced.

"No." Gianna spoke from where she was stood with Victoria. "Milo isn't going to a party."

"Don't worry, I wasn't expecting him to." Lucy told Gianna.

"I was planning on spending some time with Milo." I said not looking at her.

"Milo can't have friends over tonight." Gianna interrupted again. "His uncle and cousin are coming over for dinner."

I sighed. "Still, I'm not sure if I want to go to a party."

I wasn't sure if I wanted to go to a party without Milo, if I stayed at home I could call and text him all night.

"You should go." Milo said while lifting his head. "Have some fun."

I stared at him for a moment to see if he was sure before reluctantly nodding. "Fine, I'll go."

"I'll go too." Wyatt agreed.

"You didn't have a choice." Lucy patted his chest before pecking his lips.

I laughed at Wyatt annoyed face before subconsciously throwing an arm over Milo's shoulders. He took a sharp inhale of breath which made my eyes widen as I retracted my arm immediately.

"Shit, sorry." I apologized watching his pained eyes.

"It's okay." He let out in a shaky breath. "I just have some stitches there so be careful."

I nodded wordlessly, I noticed Gianna glaring at me.

"Milo we should be heading home now." She said walking over to him and helping him up.

I frowned up at him. "I'm sorry again, I'll call you tomorrow."

"Okay, and try to have fun tonight." Milo told me.

"I will." I promised. "Goodbye."

"Bye Lincoln." He said before he left the room with his mum.

Lucy stood up grinning. "Let's get ready."

"You can borrow one of my dresses." Victoria offered. "And we can help each other get ready!"

"You're not going." I told her blandly.

"What? Of course she is." Lucy rolled her eyes at me.

"She's right, I'm going." Victoria crossed her arms.

"Ask dad then." I grumbled.

"I will, and he'll say yes." She headed towards where mum's room was with Lucy in tow.

They came back a few minutes later with large smiles on their faces.

"He said yes." She smirked at me.

"There's no way dad said yes." I argued.

"Well I may have turned on some tears saying how hard the past few weeks have been to convince him." She spoke in victory.

"Talk about manipulative." Wyatt chuckled.

"Whatever." I huffed.

I was not looking forward to attending a party with my sixteen year old sister. If she gets drunk and leaves me to take care of her I'm going to be mad.
