Chapter Eighteen - Oliver's Dad
Lincoln's P.O.V -
I smiled at Wyatt and Lucy cuddling on the sofa. It was nice to see that they were finally together after such a long time of Wyatt being upset about the situation.
I sat in the arm chair pulling out my phone to talk to Milo, it was quite early in the morning so he might not be awake yet but I said good morning to him anyway.
I didn't receive a reply but that was expected. Lucy glanced at the time with a groan, Wyatt stared at her confused.
"I have to go to school soon." She huffed.
Wyatt frowned not wanting her to leave as he wrapped his arms around her tighter. "No."
She laughed. "Are you two not going?"
I shook my head. "We're focused on looking for my mum."
"Of course." She nodded.
"I don't want to go home." She spoke quietly to Wyatt. "Are there any clothes that'll fit me here?"
"Lincoln's sister might have some." He suggested.
"Lincoln." She turned to me. "Do you know if your sister could lend me some clothes?"
"Sure." I stood up. "Let's go talk to her."
She pulled away from Wyatt following me up the stairs and to Victoria's room. I knocked on the door and she opened it after a few moments.
"What?" She sighed. Her hair looked matted and slightly greasy.
"When was the last time you showered?" I asked her with a small frown.
"I don't know and I don't care." She mumbled. "No one is going to see me."
I decided to drop the subject. "Lucy, Wyatt's mate, was wondering if she can borrow some clothes." I gestured to Lucy as I spoke.
Victoria nodded which surprised me, she never shared her things. She turned walking away and falling face first onto the bed. Lucy entered the room walking into her walk in wardrobe while I made my way over to the bed.
I sat on the edge of the bed reaching over to place my hand on her shoulder. "Are you okay?"
"It's taken you this long to ask." She scoffed lifting her head to glare at me. "You've hardly spoken to me since mum's been gone."
"I've been busy." I told her.
She rolled her eyes. "No you haven't. I've seen you moping around the house not doing anything, you even went to dinner with your mate. You could've at least taken a few minutes to talk to me."
I hadn't really thought about Victoria during all of this, she was going through the same thing as me yet I completely neglected her.
Lucy walked out of the wardrobe dressed in my sister's clothes, I'm surprised she found something to wear since they had very different styles. My sister's being more revealing.
"Thank you." Lucy spoke to my sister but didn't get a reply. "I'll wash them and give them back as soon as I can."
Lucy phone began to ring, she answered it holding the device to her ear. "Hello?"
Whoever she was talking to spoke for a while and I watched Lucy's facial expression change from happy to worried. I hadn't been listening into the phone call as that would be an invasion of her privacy.
"Wait what?" She frowned. "Where is he?"
She listened for a moment before glancing at me. "He's not with Lincoln, I am."
"What?" I asked.
"Milo's disappeared." She whispered to me.
I felt my heart drop and my stomach churn. "What do you mean?"
Victoria looked at me concerned. "He's gone? Where? You don't think the hunters took him do you?"
I ignored her not wanting to even entertain the thought of him being taken. I stared at Lucy as she spoke to Oliver.
"Okay, I'll call you if I see him." She said before hanging up, she looked at me worry evident in her eyes. "Oliver says when he woke up Milo wasn't there and he hasn't answered any of his calls."
"Maybe he went home?" I hoped.
"I'll call his mum." Lucy scrolled through her phone.
After a quick phone call it was confirmed that Milo wasn't at home. Lucy lied to Gianna to reassure her nothing was wrong claiming that he was probably still asleep and that's why he wasn't answering his phone, Lucy said she was only calling because Milo wasn't answering her.
"Where could he be?" I asked Lucy.
"I have no idea." She said. "He hasn't done this in so long."
"So he's done it before?" I asked. This was good, this meant that it was possible nothing had happened to him.
"He wouldn't do it again, he ran away due to some family issues." She was careful about her word choices.
"So you don't think he's done this himself?" I spoke sadly.
"No." She shook her head. "Definitely not."
My phone buzzed in my pocket and I pulled it out finding it was an image from a blocked number. My breath stopped before I even opened it. I knew what this was, they did this last time. My fears were confirmed when I looked at the image.
My mum was tied to the chair, a cloth wrapped around her mouth and her clothes torn. She was sporting a black eye and he legs and arms were covered in hand shaped bruises. Her eyes were wide in pain and fear. She was in a dark room, if it wasn't for the one light bulb hanging from the ceiling I wouldn't have been able to see her.
Another message came through. Another image. This time it was of Milo. He was tied and gagged the same way as my mum, and he seemed to be in the same room. He was only in joggers which I recognized as his, telling me this is what he had worn to bed. He didn't seem hurt whatsoever which provided me with some relief but he was unconscious his head drooping forward.
"They've got him." I whispered finally managing to breath, it was then that I realized my face was already drenched in tears.
Lucy peered over at my phone with a gasp seeing both pictures, she began to cry stepping back.
"What is it?" Victoria stood up to look at the phone but I turned it off before she could. "What was it?"
"A picture of mum and Milo." I explained. "You wouldn't want to see it."
She nodded in understanding but looked up at me with glassy eyes. "Is it bad?"
"Everything will be okay." I avoided the question not sure whether it would be better to lie or tell the truth.
"Don't keep things from me Lincoln. Is it bad?" She spoke frustrated.
"Mum has quite a lot of bruises, she looks scared." I informed. "Milo doesn't seem hurt, but it looks like they've drugged him so he's unconscious."
She nodded not asking anymore questions as she sat back down on the bed. I don't think I've accepted the situation that's going on, if I had I'd probably be in a ball on the floor.
"What's going on? You two have been up here for ages." Wyatt walked in placing an arm over Lucy before seeing that she was crying. "What's wrong?" He hugged her.
I passed him my phone showing him the picture of Milo. He stared down at it with wide eyes, he gaped at the photo looking up at me with worry.
"Oh shit." He muttered. "Okay, um. I'm going to look at some CCTV with the tech guys and send out some trackers. Lucy I need you to give me Oliver's address."
She nodded telling him it. "I should get started. Okay Lincoln?" He asked me.
I tried to process what he was saying, I nodded my head slowly not knowing what else to do. He stared at me cautiously before quickly leaving.
I think everything suddenly became to much and soon enough my vision was dotted and I was falling to the floor.
***
When I woke up it was dark outside and my dad was sat on the edge of my bed looking down at me.
"Hi son." He forced a smile at me.
"Dad." I mumbled as tears fell from my eyes.
"It's okay." He tried to reassure me. "Everything's going to be okay."
"Milo's human dad, he won't be able to handle it." I cried.
Dad shook his head. "Milo's a strong boy, he'll cope."
"The weapons are designed for werewolves not humans, it'll-" He cut me off.
"Exactly, so all the wolfsbane and chemicals they use to hurt us won't effect him." He pointed out.
I didn't say anything. Maybe they would go easier on him because he's a human, they would be able to sympathize with him. More than they can with werewolves, or monsters as they think we are.
"I need to see those photos." He spoke softly. "They might help us figure out where they are."
I shook my head while turning on my phone. "It's just a dark room, there aren't any windows."
I pulled up the photo of Milo instead of my mum, as I wasn't sure if he wanted to see her like that, before passing it to him. He spent a few minutes zooming in on different parts before looking back to me.
"And the other photo?" He looked at me expectantly.
"Just swipe the screen." I explained.
He did as I said before freezing for a moment before blinking away the tears forming. He did the same as before, this times his eyes were pitch black and his hands were shaking in anger. He dropped the phone onto the bed with a sigh.
"Absolutely nothing." He growled.
Last time they made a mistake by having the photo near a window, one of the warriors recognized the area and this lead to us finding my mum. I guess they learnt from their mistakes.
"I'll send them to the tracker team anyway in case they find something." I found one of their contacts sending them the images and quickly telling him what to do.
"How do you deal with this dad?" I asked.
"I don't." He mumbled. "No one can deal with their mate being taken from them."
I knew what my dad was going through was worse, his bond with my mum was stronger as they've completed the mate bond. He could feel her pain and knew when they raped her. Meanwhile I had only known Milo for a just over a month and our bond was only half formed. In a way I thought it was worse that I couldn't feel his pain because I had no idea what was happening to him.
"I'm going to help more." He promised. "I know I haven't been useful the last few days."
"It's okay dad." I spoke sincerely. "No one is expecting you to help right now, with everything you're going through."
He shook his head. "I'm disgusted that I haven't been helping to find my mate and have been putting all the work on you. I need to take responsibility, I might not be the alpha anymore but I'm still your dad."
I thanked him before pulling him into a hug. I got up from the bed making my way to the office.
"Hi." Wyatt looked up at my from the desk.
"Hey. Anything?" I asked leaning over to look at the screen, it showed a street with cars passing.
"There's no CCTV which shows the house, but there is two either side of the street." He gestured to the split image. "So I'm looking for cars which go into the road and come out between five minutes and half an hour later."
"How far through are you?" I questioned not taking my eyes off.
"Two hours, but we've split it into three sections." He explained. "Cora has eight pm until twelve, I have twelve until four, and my dad has four until eight."
I nodded. "I want at least two more people to look at each section in case one of you miss something."
"Will do." He spoke solely focused on the screen.
"Have you heard anything from the trackers?" I ran a hand through my hair.
"There's no trail of Milo's scent leaving the house." He mumbled. "Sorry."
"That's still news." I stated. "It means that he must have been taken from inside the house. I want you to get the warriors to search for any unfamiliar scents."
Lucy walked into the room with a puffy red, she made her way over to Wyatt sitting in his lap. Wyatt paused the footage looking at her concerned.
"You're back from school early." He pointed out.
"I'm surprised you still went to school." I spoke surprised.
"My mum made me, I pretended I was ill but she didn't believe me." She sighed.
"How are you here now then, it's only twelve?" Wyatt played with her hair soothingly. I would always do that to Milo, and he'd do it to me.
"I started crying in class so they let me go to medical, they called my mum to come pick me up." She explained. "When my mum started asking what was wrong I had to lie so I told her I was pregnant, because I knew she would tell me to leave so she could think. That way I could come here."
Wyatt let out a small chuckle. "She won't come over here to kill me will she?"
"No, she doesn't know about us yet." She rested her head on his shoulder. "She wouldn't think well of me dating two people back to back."
Wyatt frowned slightly turning back to the screen pressing play.
"What's this?" She asked.
"CCTV of Oliver's street." I informed her.
She nodded beginning to watch with us. We sat in silence for about half an hour until Lucy spoke.
"Wait!" She exclaimed. "Go back."
I looked at her slightly confused at Wyatt went back five seconds. Lucy paused it as range rover came on screen.
She leaned in closer staring at it. "Oh no."
"What?" I asked looking between her and the car.
"That's Oliver's dad." She said. "Oliver said he wasn't back from his business trip on the phone."
"When did he say this?" Wyatt asked her whether this was to find information or because he was jealous that Lucy was talking to her ex I wasn't sure.
"He called me during school to find out if I've heard from Milo." She answered still staring at the screen, her head suddenly snapped up to look at me. "When did you mum go missing again?"
"Half way through Saturday." I watched with curiosity.
"That's when Oliver said he left." Lucy muttered pressing play watching the screen.
There was nothing for ten minutes before she paused it again when a van drove into view, leaving the road.
"What does that say?" Lucy asked pointing to the righting on the car doors.
Wyatt zoomed in squinting his eyes slightly. "Adam's Ammunition." He read.
"Shit." Lucy's eyes widened. "That's Oliver's dad's company."
"He's got Milo." I mumbled.
Lucy pulled out her phone dialing someone, Wyatt stopped her.
"What are you doing?" He hissed.
"I'm calling Oliver, he needs to know his dad can't be trusted." She narrowed her eyes.
"Don't tell him over the phone, just tell him to come here." I suggested.
She nodded continuing to type in the number before putting it on speaker.
"Hey Lucy, have you heard from him?" Oliver asked although his voice was quite quiet.
"No I haven't, but I was wondering if you wanted to come over to Lincoln and Wyatt's house." She said. "To watch a movie or something, hopefully that will take our minds off things."
"Uh, I'm with my dad right now so maybe another day." We all exchanged worried looks.
"You're with your dad?" She asked. "I thought he was on a business trip."
"Yeah but her just got back an hour ago, we're going on a trip out of state. He says he has a surprise to show me." He spoke in a happy tone.
"Oh okay." Lucy mumbled. "I'll tell you if we find him."
"Bye." Oliver said before hanging up.
"If they're away we can search the house for clues." I stated.
Wyatt nodded. "I'll gather the trackers and tell them what's going on."Â Lucy and him stood up, Wyatt rushed out of the room.
"Thank you so much Lucy." I hugged her before following after Wyatt.
We will find them, and the sooner the better.
