Chapter Seventeen - Traitor
Milo's P.O.V -
"On a scale of one to ten how awful were they." I asked once Lincoln was about to leave.
"Zero." He answered instantly with bright eyes.
"That wasn't even an option." I mumbled.
"Yeah, that's how nice they were." He smiled.
I felt relief wash over me, so they hadn't scared him away. I looked around to make sure no one was nearby before pulling him into a quick kiss.
"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow hopefully." He rocked back and forward on his feet.
"Definitely." I grinned leaning in to kiss him again.
"Okay bye." He said once we pulled away.
"Bye." I closed the door once he left.
I turned around to see Roberto stood there wiggling his eyebrows.
"Sta 'zitto." (Shut up)Â I grumbled.
"Non ho detto niente." (I didn't say anything) He smiled before walking away.
"Milo." My mother called from the kitchen.
I felt my nerves rise as I walked into the room.
"I like him." She told me. "He seems to care about you a lot."
"Thank you mamma." I hugged her.
***
Oliver and I walked into school discussing an upcoming basketball game which Oliver was excited about.
"I'm so happy Lucy dumped him." I heard someone in the hall say.
I slowed my pace slightly listening to what they were saying.
"Yeah maybe you can actually get with her without spiking her drink like last time." I stopped dead in my tracks. Oliver looked at me confused as he stopped talking.
"I didn't get with her, some Eastwood kid was with her so it didn't work." A guy sighed.
I turned to see two boys that I vaguely recognized as being on the swim team.
"What?" Oliver mumbled looking at me.
"He's talking about how he drugged Lucy." I whispered clenching my fists.
"What!" He spat out.
We exchanged a look before storming over to them, I shoved one of them into the locker while Oliver gripped the other by the collar. Everyone in the hallway's attention turned to us.
"Which one of you did it?" I spoke through gritted teeth.
Their eyes widened realizing we heard them. The one Oliver was holding was immediately pointed at the other.
He stared at us guiltily, and that's all I needed to hear before I slammed my fist into his jaw.
The boy's face was soon covered in blood and his friend had a bruised eye. Oliver felt he deserved to be punched as he was an accomplice.
It didn't take long until a teacher rushed down the hallway yelling at us to go to the principle's office.
I pulled up his slightly floppy body. "Don't you fucking dare do that to Lucy or anyone again, or you'll think this was us going easy on you."
I dropped him to the ground making my way to the office with Oliver. We had to sit in the office with the principle as we waited for our parents. He lectured us on conflict resolution for about half an hour until they finally got here.
My mum walked in her face red in anger as she sat in the chair beside me. "What have you done this time?" She hissed at me.
Before I could answer the principle began to talk.
"So I've called you here because your sons," He looked at Oliver and I's mothers before continuing. "Beat a boy, William Jones, until he was unconscious."
My mum just shook her head obviously expecting this to be the reason.
"I'm going to start with Oliver's punishment first." He stated.
"You're not even going to listen to us first?" I asked annoyed.
"Milo, don't you think you've done enough?" My mother glared at me.
"In this school there are no reasons which condone violence." The principle said.
"I think drugging someone with the intent to rape them is a pretty fucking good reason." Oliver argued.
All the adults looked at him with surprise for a few moments.
"That's a very serious accusation." The principle told him.
"I'm aware, but we heard him admit it." Oliver crossed his arms.
The anger in my mothers face changed so that it was no longer directed towards me.
"Nevertheless, you two will still receive punishments. As will William if what you've said is true, however that seems more like a matter for the police." He mumbled the last part.
"Oliver, you haven't got into many situations like this in the past so you will receive a three day suspension. This will go on your permanent record." He explained, I heard Oliver's mum sigh in annoyance.
"And Milo, you've done this many times. Too many times. We're left with no choice but to expel you." He leaned back into his chair.
I sat there in shock. Oliver glanced at me in wide eyes while my mum began to argue with the principle. Although I appreciated my mum's efforts I knew it was no use.
I just tapped my foot waiting for her to finish. "Milo let's go, I can't listen to this anymore."
I nodded getting up silently. Nothing was said until we got into the car.
"I'm not happy about you fighting but I understand why you did." She looked at me with soft eyes. "We'll find another school."
I just nodded resting my head on the window. I wouldn't be at school with Lucy anymore, for the first time ever.
"We could try get you into Eastwood with Lincoln." She offered.
I shrugged still staring out the window the rest of the journey. As soon as we got inside Roberto looked at us confused.
"Siete a casa presto. Ã successo qualcosa?" (You two are home early. Has something happened?) He stared at us confused.
I walked past him and up the stairs and into my room closing the door. I pulled out my phone calling Lincoln.
"Hey." He answered. "Aren't you in school?"
I explained everything quickly not wanting to really talk about it.
"Are you hurt?" Was his first question.
"My knuckles are a bit cut up, but apart from that I'm fine." I sighed.
"I can get you in my school." He told me.
"Really?" I asked.
"Milo my school is run by the pack, and I'm in charge of the pack. So yes I can get you in." He told me.
"Is that why no one can get into Eastwood?" I questioned. "Because only werewolves are allowed."
"Yeah." He confirmed.
We then began to talk about his mum and then just random topics like what's going on between Lucy and Wyatt.
***
It was four o'clock now which means school ended a while ago and I hadn't left my room. My phone began to ring but I ignored it not in the mood to talk but it just kept ringing. After the third time I finally picked up the phone without checking who it was.
"Hello?" I answered gruffly.
"Where are you?" Lucy immediately began to question me. "You weren't in school today and I heard you got in a fight. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, I'm at home." I mumbled letting my head fall onto the pillow. "I have to tell you something."
"What?" She asked. "Actually, tell me in person. I want to see how many bruises you've managed to get this time. I'm at Wyatt's house." She hung up.
I actually hadn't got any bruises William hadn't managed to hit me nor had his friend.
I got up from the bed making my way to the living room. "Mum can I go see Lucy?"
I felt stupid asking. I had just got kicked out of school and I was asking if I could hang out with my friends.
"Okay." She smiled over at me before turning back to uncle Roberto.
"Really?" I stood there confused.
"I would've done the same as you." She told me. "So I can't be angry."
I just nodded slowly. "Can I borrow your car?"
She nodded turning back to her younger brother.
I grabbed the keys and left the house before she could say anything. I was almost in the car when I noticed Oliver walking over.
"Hey." He greeted. "I'm surprised your mum let you out."
"And I'm surprised your dad hasn't killed you." I spoke surprised.
"He doesn't know yet." He shrugged. "He's been gone since Saturday."
"Where is he?" I asked walking closer to him.
"Probably at work, he just disappeared half way though the day. He does that sometimes." He mumbled. "So where are you going?"
"To Lincoln and Wyatt's house to talk to Lucy." I tossed the car keys from one hand to the other.
He grimaced. "She's going to be really upset that you got expelled."
I nodded with a sigh. "I know, but I don't regret it."
"Oh me neither, even though my dad is going to lock me inside for months." He joked although it seemed a bit forced.
"Do you want to sleep over at mine tonight? I probably won't be allowed to see you for a long time once my dad finds out." He smiled weakly.
"I'll go ask my mum." I said walking into my house.
I asked her quickly. "Well It's not like you have school to go to tomorrow." Was her response. I grabbed some clothes, and soon enough Oliver and I were driving to Lincoln's house.
Oliver was hesitant to see Lucy and Wyatt but he decided to come with me eventually, at first he was planning on waiting in the car.
We parked in front of the house beside Lucy's car and walked in. We knocked on the door and waited for a few moments while Oliver mumbled that he shouldn't be here. The door opened and we could see Wyatt and Lucy stood there. Wyatt's arm was over Lucy's shoulder and she was leaning into him.
Oliver winced looking down as Lucy pushed Wyatt away from her looking at Oliver awkwardly. I walked past them into the house and Oliver followed me quickly.
"H-hey Oliver, we weren't expecting you." Lucy stuttered slightly.
"I'm just here because Milo's sleeping over at mine tonight." He crossed his arms.
"Oh you are?" Lincoln asked walking in from the kitchen.
My eyes widened. "Uh yeah but if you want I can stay here?"
"No it's good." He smiled reassuringly. "I'm going camping with some friends tonight so I'm not going to be here either."
"Huh? You're going camping?" I frowned.
"Yes." He nodded gesturing his head towards Oliver with a pointed look.
I realized what he meant. He was probably going to search for his mum tonight but he couldn't say that in front of Oliver obviously.
"So what happened today?" Lucy asked.
"Oliver and I heard this guy talking about how he drugged your drink at Sophie's party so we beat him up." I shrugged.
Lucy's eyes widened. "Who was it?"
"William Jones." Oliver told her.
"Oh I know him!" She exclaimed. "He sits next to me in History."
"I told you he had a crush on you." Oliver commented.
She nodded with a small frown. "I didn't think he would do this though."
I noticed Wyatt was tense and his eyes were dark.
"So did you both get suspended? Is that why you two weren't in school?" She looked between us.
"I got suspended for three days." Oliver replied.
Lucy nodded before turning her attention to me.
"I got expelled Lucy." I announced.
She gaped at me shaking her head. "No you didn't."
I nodded at her, not saying anything. Her lip wobbled and her eyes welled up. She walked over pulling me into a hug.
"Don't cry." I whispered to her.
"Too late." She mumbled into my chest.
I wrapped my arms around her when she jumped up wrapping her legs around my torso. One hand was on her upper back and the other was on her butt. I noticed Wyatt glaring at my hand.
"I'm gay." I mouthed to him as a reminder.
He rolled his eyes pulling out his phone beginning to scroll through it.
"Come on it will be fine." I told Lucy.
"But we're always in school together." She spoke sadly. Wyatt looked up from his phone concerned.
"We don't even have any classes together." I stated. Lucy was in the highest class for all of her subjects.
"But we had lunch." She cried.
"Lucy we only have half a school year left anyway." I mumbled. "We were going to be separated soon."
"I thought I had more time with you." She muttered in dismay.
"It's not like I'm dying, you'll see me tomorrow." I laughed.
She pulled away wiping her face with a small smile.
"Milo, I'm going to get ready for camping soon." Lincoln told me.
I walked over giving him a quick hug and peck on the lips. "Good luck, I'll see you tomorrow."
"Have fun at Oliver's." He smiled before making his way upstairs.
"Bye Wyatt." I told him.
He nodded. "Bye Milo, bye Oliver."
"Bye." Oliver spoke quietly following me out of the house.
***
"Your mum is a really good cook." I said once we left the dining room and entered Oliver's room.
"Yeah." He agreed. "She wanted to own a restaurant of her own but she never had enough money."
"Was it weird seeing Wyatt and Lucy together?" I asked once we got halfway through a movie.
He shrugged. "I guess, but I could see it coming. That's why I hated him so much, he's probably not even that bad."
"He's not." I said looking towards him but he wouldn't take his eyes of the TV.
"I just hope he takes care of her." He mumbled. "The way she deserves."
I smiled at his words. "Are you not mad anymore?"
"Oh I'm still mad." He turned to me. "But that doesn't mean she deserves a shitty boyfriend."
"That's very mature of you." I told him.
"Shut up." He grumbled turning back to the movie.
It didn't take long for us to fall asleep, however I woke up at two in the morning needing to go to the toilet.
This house only had one bathroom and it was downstairs. I quietly tiptoed downstairs so that I wouldn't wake any one up. Once I used the bathroom I glanced at the door to my left.
I always tried to open it whenever I was here but it was always locked, it confused me what was so important that they had to hide it. I reached for the handle not expecting it to open but to my surprise the brass handle turned. I slowly pulled open the door peaking my head inside.
I couldn't hardly see anything, all the lights were off but the room was slightly lit up by the lamppost outside the window.
I ran my hand up and down the wall until I found the light switch. I squinted as the lights burned my eyes, I blinked away the sensation as I became used to brightness. I took in my surroundings.
There was a cork board covered in photos with different colored strings connecting them, it looked like the boards you see in police shows when they're solving a crime. There was a desk with stacks of files on them messily spread across the surface. To my right was a glass cabinet, filled with guns.
I walked over to the desk not touching anything in case someone would notice I've been in here. I couldn't help my self when I saw Alpha Lincoln labeling one of the files. I picked it up opening the papers in confusion.
At the front there was a photo of Lincoln and Me from our first date at mini golf. A sticky note on Lincoln stated his full name, date of birth, pack ranking, phone number and home address.
I pulled of the stick note on me.
Lincoln's mate, Luna, Oliver's friend, Traitor.
I frowned placing it back where it was before flicking through more of the pages. Why did they have this, and how did they know about Lincoln?
I stopped when I found a page about Lincoln's mum.
Taken - Saturday October 12th, approximately 13:30.
Location - Wallom woods, Idaho. Underground, grey metal doors labelled LOCATION 74.
Oliver's dad took her? I glanced over at the glass cabinet noticing bottles of clear liquid labelled wolfsbane. He's one of the hunters. It all made sense now, he always seemed to be hiding something.
I picked up the file turning to leave but I saw a shadowed figure stood in the doorway.
"Hello traitor." Oliver's dad stepped closer to me making his face clear. "What have you found there?"
He ripped the file from my grasp tossing it onto the desk. He took a step towards the cabinets opening one of the draws.
I stared at the doorway wondering if I could make a run for it, I willed my feet to move but they were stuck to the ground.
He turned to me a syringe in his hand. This knocked the sense back into me and I darted for the door.
I was foolish to think I could get away. He was closer to the door than me and he had military training on his side. He grabbed me by the hair pulling me back and plunging the needle into my neck.
"This will keep you quiet." He turned away from me placing the syringe back into the drawer.
I swayed back and forward until my legs gave way. I fell onto the floor, my vision turned black. Whether this was because of the injection or because I hit my head I wasn't sure.
