Chapter Fifteen - Druggies

Milo's P.O.V -

Wyatt pulled into the driveway of Lucy's house staring up at the window we both knew lead to Lucy's room.

"I'll call you." I promised him unbuckling my seat belt.

"Okay." He nodded taking his eyes away from the window.

"Bye." I climbed out of the car walking over and knocking on the door.

To my surprise Lucy opened the door. She was in her favorite fluffy dressing gown and her hair was drenched in water telling me she had only just got out of the shower.

"Hey." I spoke softly.

She smiled weakly looking over to Wyatt who had still not driven away. She gave him a small wave.

"Why is he just sitting in his car?" She asked quietly.

"I wasn't sure if you wanted to see him or not." I mumbled.

She shrugged pushing her hair out of her face. "I'd feel bad if I was with him straight after leaving Oliver."

I nodded in understanding. "Yeah that's what I thought."

She gestured for Wyatt to come over. "I should explain things so he doesn't worry."

"I'll wait upstairs." I told her as Wyatt walked over.

I sat on Lucy's bed. My phone began to ring again, I looked at it to see Oliver's name on the screen.

I answered the phone. "Hey."

"She cheated on me." He grumbled.

"Yeah." I was unsure of what to say.

"With fucking Wyatt!" He shouted in anger. "I knew it. I fucking knew it."

"Are you okay?" I asked him concerned.

"Am I okay?" He laughed. "I'm pissed, I can't believe she would do this to me."

"She feels really bad about it." I attempted to help.

He scoffed. "I bet she's with him right now."

I winced, he was right. "Uh, she's telling Wyatt to leave right now."

"You're with her?" He spoke quietly now. There was now tension in the air.

"Yeah." I mumbled.

"Oh does she need consoling?" He spat out. "That's pathetic."

"Oliver I-" He cut me off.

"She cheated on me. She broke up with me." Oliver spoke in a venomous tone. "But she's the one getting all the sympathy, she's the one putting on the heartbroken act."

I tugged at my hair. "Do you want me to come over later?"

"Don't bother." The call ended suddenly.

"Was that Oliver?" Lucy asked from the doorway nervously.

I nodded placing my phone on charge before turning back to look at her.

"Is he mad?" She shifted from foot to foot.

"What do you think?" I muttered.

Truthfully, I was kind of mad at Lucy. I became friends with Oliver when we both joined the basketball team in freshman year. After a couple weeks Lucy told me she had a crush on Oliver and that they had kissed at a party. I warned her not to date him because I didn't want to lose Oliver as my friend if they broke up. Obviously she ignored me.

She sighed sitting down on the bed beside me. "I know you didn't want us to date." She spoke quietly.

"This isn't about me." I told her. "You're upset so I'll go get the ice cream while you pick a movie."

Once I got back I noticed she was laid on the bed with the remote in her hand.

"What are we watching?" I passed her the tub of ice cream along with one of the spoons.

"The notebook." She pressed play.

I held back all the negative comments I had about the movie as I slid into the bed pulling the duvet over myself.

I found it difficult to concentrate on the movie so I kept fidgeting which annoyed Lucy, I forgot the name of the main guy in the movie and my research ended up with me reading reviews on the movie Easy A.

"Did you know Penn Badgley is in Easy A?" I asked eating a spoon full of ice cream. What flavor is this? Birthday cake? I wonder if they have to make cakes to put in this ice cream, and what kind of cake. Shouldn't they be more specific?

"Oh really." She said surprised. I had forgotten what I said to her. "Who is he in it?"

"Oh, Penn Badgley right!" I showed her a picture of him in the movie.

I continued to look through random, unrelated topics on my phone before eventually the movie ended.

"Finally." I grumbled as Lucy wiped the tears from her eyes.

"Are you sleeping over?" She asked me.

I shook my head. "I should go home, it's a school night."

She agreed. We said our goodbyes before I began my walk home.

I was half way home when a hand landed on my shoulder terrifying me. I jumped back and heard a laugh.

"Little Miller." I turned at the sound of my last name.

"Hello?" It was quite dark so I couldn't see who it was.

The man stepped forwards in the light of a lamppost, Matt. "Hey." I smiled at him.

"Hi kid." His hair was a mess, he had a straggly beard which he seemed to have forgotten to shave and his eyes were bloodshot.

"Long time no see." A girl chuckled coming from the same alleyway as him, Allison.

She swayed slightly as she walked over wrapping an arm over my shoulder.

"I see you two are still the same." I commented slightly amused.

"Druggies you mean." Matt smirked leaning against the wall.

"Exactly." I chuckled.

"Come on." Matt walked down the alley that they came from, Allison and I followed after him.

He pulled open a metal door walking into a dark room. When I stepped in I noticed it was and an empty office building. A few desks remained but other than that the entire place was empty.

"Here." Matt tossed me a beer can.

I looked at it hesitantly after all it was a school night. I sighed opening the can, how embarrassing would it be to turn it down. They already see me as a child.

I pulled out my phone telling my mum I was sleeping at Lucy's, if I came home drunk on a Monday night she would kill me.

"I don't think I've seen you drink." Allison sat on one of the desks pulled a packet from her bag.

I looked at her curiously trying to see what it was. Gummy bears? Matt laughed at my confusion.

"Edibles." He explained.

"Oh." I mumbled sipping my drink.

"Want one?" She asked.

I shook my head instantly.

"Obviously." Matt rolled his eyes. "He's not like Ana."

I grimaced slightly at his words. He didn't know my sister. Not really.

"That's probably a good thing." Allison frowned. She continued to talk when I glared at her. "Not in a mean way, I loved your sister. I just meant its a good thing you haven't got involved in the same things she did."

I nodded in understanding but her words still left a sour taste in my mouth or maybe it was the alcohol.

I chugged the drink before grabbing another one, I suddenly felt like I needed to drink.

When I woke up I was still in the office building with Matt and Allison. They were awake and smoking cigarettes by the window.

"What time is it?" I groaned a pain shooting in my head.

"Ten." Matt told me.

My eyes widened. "Oh shit."

"What?" Allison asked. "Headache?"

"I'm late for school." I huffed.

"You're still in school?" Matt questioned. "You should not have been drinking last night."

I rolled my eyes getting off the floor grabbing my phone from off a desk and pulling on my shoes.

"I've got to go." I told them.

"Alright, see you around." Matt waved goodbye.

I rushed out noticing I got a few suspicious looks. I glanced down at my clothes to find them creased and there was a stain down the front of my shirt. I must've spilled my drink down myself last night.

I couldn't turn up to school like this. I called Oliver hoping he would have some clothes at school with him, he sometimes has them for after basketball practice.

"I'm in class." He whispered as he answered.

"Do you have clothes in your locker?" I spoke quickly.

"Yeah, why?" He spoke confused.

"I just need them." I started to walk in the direction of the school.

"Where are you?" He asked as a car drove past.

"On my way to school." I picked up my pace into a light jog.

"The teachers coming. I've got to go." The call ended quickly.

After about ten minutes of jogging I reached the school. I got to Oliver's locker grabbing the clothes before finding a bathroom. Once I was dressed in his clothes I checked the time to find it was almost the end of the lesson. I decided to wait until the bell rang before finally going to class.

When lunch arrived I wasn't sure what to expect, I sat at the usual table but I was unsure who would sit with me. After a few minutes Lucy came and sat down beside me glancing at me curiously.

"Were you late?" She furrowed her brows. "You weren't in homeroom."

"I got here at half ten." I explained.

"Oh really, how come?" She asked.

"I overslept." I mumbled.

"Didn't your mum wake you?" She frowned.

"I wasn't at home, she thinks I was sleeping at yours." I said. "I was with Matt and Allison."

"Ana's friends?" Her eyes widened. "They are not a good influence Milo."

"I know." I rested my head on my hand tiredly.

"Is this why you look like such a mess?" She narrowed her eyes at me. "Did you do drugs with them?"

I blinked a few times in disbelief. "Seriously? You think I would do that, after everything that happened?"

"Sorry." She apologized.

I noticed Oliver walking over. Lucy looked at him nervously.

"Hi." Lucy gave him a weak smile.

He hardly glanced at her before turning to me. "Why did you need my clothes?"

I briefly explained happened last night.

Oliver nodded. "You should've invited me, I could've done with a drink last night."

Lucy sunk into her chair at his words.

"Anyway, I'm gonna go sit with the team." He said before walking off.

"That was awkward." Lucy mumbled.

I sighed looking as Oliver sat down at the table on the far side of the room.

So this was how it was going to be. Oliver would sit with the basketball team and me and Lucy would be by ourselves.

School was finally over and I was deciding between going home and sleeping off my hangover or going to Lincoln's and sleeping off my hangover.

"Come on." Lucy told me walking over to her car.

I followed after her yawning. I climbed into the passenger seat, as soon as I rested my head on the window I fell asleep.

I woke up by being shaken by Lucy. I looked around to find we were parked in front of Lincoln and Wyatt's house. I guess I'm sleeping here then.

I slowly got out of the car slugging to the door. Lucy knocked on it eagerly obviously wanting to see Wyatt. Not that I didn't want to see Lincoln, I was just exhausted.

"Hey!" Wyatt opened the door a huge grin on his face.

Lucy immediately began talking to him about her day while I walked in looking for Lincoln.

"He's in his office." Cole told me from the couch.

"Thanks." I mumbled walking up the stairs and into where I remembered the office was.

He was hunched over the desk reading something, he was so focused he didn't even notice me.

"Hey." I sat in the chair opposite him.

His head snapped, his face was dull but his eyes lit up. "Hi, school over already?" He glanced over at the clock.

I nodded with a yawn leaning forward to rest my head on the desk.

"What's wrong?" He watched me with concern.

"He's hungover." Lucy chuckled as her and Wyatt walk in.

He narrowed his eyes at me slightly before looking at them with a forced smile. "Wyatt said you found out about us. How are you finding it?"

"Oh its fascinating." She spoke enthusiastically. "I used to read about werewolves."

Wyatt laughed loudly while Lincoln let out a small chuckle.

"We're going to be in the game room if you need us." Wyatt told us before they walked out.

Lincoln's face turned serious as he looked back at me. It was kind of scary how easily he could change his emotion.

"You're hungover?" He deadpanned.

I nodded with a sigh already knowing this was going to be an argument by his tone.

"I thought you was helping Lucy not drinking with her." He crossed his arms.

"I did help her, and I wasn't drinking with Lucy." I spoke quietly my headache still present.

"Then who? Oliver?" He huffed in annoyance.

I shook my head. "My sister's friends."

He stared at me confused. "You don't have a sister."

"I did." I whispered.

He stared at me for a moment his eyes softening before he seemingly realized what our conversation was about when his face hardened.

"So you were drinking with some people I've never heard off when you could have been with me?" He sounded hurt.

I thought about it, Lincoln is trying to cope with his mother being taken and I decide its appropriate to get drunk with people I hardly know.

"I'm sorry." I mumbled.

He took a deep breath. "I should get back to work, why don't you go sleep in my room?"

I knew that I shouldn't object despite wanting to stay with him. I just nodded standing up and walking to his room. I laid down on the bed hugging the pillow which smelt the most like Lincoln. The smell seemed to soothe my pounding head as I drifted off to sleep.
