Game of Destiny Chapter 16-1 The week and a half both passed by quickly and seemed to stretch for an eternity. Laura turned out to be a natural at waiting.
tables and she soaked in what, I had to teach her in no time. It eased my guilty conscience a little, as I knew I wouldnât be ditching Mrs Jones and CeCe with a heavier workload. My last shift in the diner was an evening shift and as soon as the last paying customer had eaten their dinner, Mis Jones announced the diner was closed. my surprise, most of the town then flooded in as CeCe announced it was my goodbye party. It was a wonderful evening and even got a little tearyâeyed a couple of times.
CeCe and Jessie insisted they would come over to help me pack my car the following morning, even though I told them I would get help. In the end, I ran out of excuses and agreed they could come over. I donât think could have kept them away even if I had said no. It was their way of trying to assess if they felt 1 was safe with Finlay or not. It was sweet. 1 had a hard time sleeping, my stomach was filled with nervous butterflies and my wolf was giddy with excitement.
My alarm went off at seven am and 1 got up. I parked the bedding box I had saved for it and then headed down to the bakery.
Mrs Andresen had promised to make me breakfast so I wouldnât have to dirty any of my kitchen things my last morning. I carried in the two sacks of flour 1 always helped her with and she offered me veral froshly made muffins and some delicious coffee. As I was enjoying it and chit chatting with Mrs Andersen, I heard a car arrive, but it didnât sound like Finlayâs truck. I headed out back to investigate. To my surprise, it wasnât just Finlay that had arrived. He was leaning against an unknown truck with Sam and Medow. Medow squealed when she saw me and ran to give me a tight hug. I bughed and hugged her back.
âI have missed you,â Medow said.
âI have missed you too. But I didnât expect you to come here,â I replied.
âI know, but when Finlay said he would get you, we thought...â Medow began but got interrupted by Sam clearing his throat.
Okay, okay, I thought, it would be a nice thing if we came as well,â she finished.
âIâm not objecting. But four people to move me seems a little much. At that moment, CeCe and Jessie came walking. I introduced everyone to each other and watched as Finlay and Jessie gave each other a measured look. I rolled my eyes and both CeCe and Medow giggled.
âOkay, letâs get me packed,â I told everyone before it all turned into dick measuring contest. With six people and my very limited amount of boxes, it took less than half an hour to stow everything away in the Volvo and the truck.
âIâll be driving.â Finlay told me and held out his hand for the key to my car. I hesitated.
âI usually donât let anyone else drive her,â I told him.
âHer?â he asked, raising an eyebrow.
*Yeah, Aime has an unhealthy attachment to that car,â CeCe giggled âHey, me and Beula have been through a lot,â I objected.
âBeula?â Medow asked.
âIt suits her,â I said and patted the sandâcoloured roof. Everyone laughed.
âAre you going to tell me I canât drive your car?â Finlay asked. The tone he used made it clear to me he was asking as my Alpha.
Technically, he wasnât my Alpha yet. But it wouldnât be a good way to start life in his pack by pointing out technicalities like that.
âOf co course not,â I said, tossing the keys to him.
âThave packed doughnuts for everyone, and coffee,â Mrs Andersen said. She was walking to us holding two large bags and balancing four large toâgo cups. Sam and Finlay hurried to help her. âThank you, thatâs sweet of you,â she said.
âI have packed some burgers for you to eat on the way.
No fries, as they will just get soggy. But p plenty of stuffed potatoes,â
â Mrs 1/2 Chapter 16-1 Jones announced as she came walking with two bags full of food, âThank you,â I said to both of the sisters. And they knew I wasnât ju thanking them for the food.
âIt has been a pleasure, Amie,â Mrs Jones said. As she handed the fold over to Finlay, the gave me a hug and her sister did the sanse.

4 2/2 Game of Destiny Chapter 16-2 Donât forget about us. You keep in touch,â Jessie said, giving me ag âI will. And get your shit together and ask her out before 1 have to sd someone to mess you up,â I told him. He grinned at me.
Then it was CeCeâs turn. We bugged for a long while and promised to keep in touch and she promised to look out, for Jessie. I handed my apartment key back to Mrs Andersen and got into the passenger seat of the Valvo. Finlay was already sitting in the driverâs seat.
âAre you okay?â he asked.
âI will be,â I told him.
âReady to go home?â
âMore than ready,â I agreed. It was the truth. Even though it was bittersweet to say goodbye to my old life, I was excited to start my new one. I waved to my friends as we drove off. The car smelled of red food and coffee. There were the worst scents to be surrounded by. We drove in silence for a while. I think Finlay let me take in the moment and I appreciated it.
âWant a doughnut?â 1 finally asked.
âI never turn down deep fried baked goods,â he said. I smiled and fished one out of the bag and handed it to him. âMedow and aunt Matilda have been busy planning your bloodening ceremony. They talk you through it this afternoon. If you feel itâs too much or you donât like something, just tell them. They wonât be offended, he told me. I smiled as I munched on my own doughnut.
âIâm sure I will like it. When is it planned for?â
âTomorrow.â He watched me from the corner of his eye as if he was afraid I was going to object.
âSounds good. Iâm looking forward to it.â He relaxed and smiled.
âSo is the pack, you should hear how hyped up Cadence is.â Finlay told me with a laugh. It felt nice to know the pack was looking forward to taking me in.
âNo objections from anyone or suspicions?â I asked.
âNo. You made a superb impression on everyone,â he said. He took a swipe out of his coffee and sighed happily. I had missed him, even if we had talked over the phone every day. But I had missed his calming aura and clean, pine scent. I knew I needed to be careful. I couldnât let myself or my wolf didnât get too attached. Finlay would find his mate, and when that happened, I needed to be able to accept her as my Luna. I would just make sure we kept things on a friendly level. Around the halfway mark, Finlay announced he had mind linked with Sam and it was time to eat. We jarked at some picnic tables by the side of the road and took out the burgers and stuffed potatoes.
âI understand why you spent four days eating at that diner if this is the food they are serving,â Sam told Finlay. We all laughed. I felt my wolf settling down. She recognised her new pack members, and she enjoyed the opportunity to reestablish the social connection we both had built during our three days at the pack. I noticed Finlay looking very pleased about something.
âI can drive,â I offered as we got back in the cars.
âNot happening,â Finlay told me.
âWhat are you so pleased about?â I asked after we had been driving for a while.
âI like it when a plan comes together. Iâm getting a new pack member, a strong one. You will help us build a stronger pack and I Enjoy your company. I think I have every right to feel pleased, he told me. I laughed at his honesty.
1/2 Chapter 16-2 âIf you put it like that, I would say you are right,â I agreed and relax back.
âYou look pleased as well,â he remarked, âI have got a wolf. Iâm about to have a pack and a new exciting job, and I think Iâm becoming friends with my Alpha. I say I have just as much to be pleased about,â I told him. He chuckled.
âTrue. Itâs a good day,â he agreed. We arrived at the pack house a couple of hours later. Finlay and I had spent the time talking and joking. So when I got out of the car, my legs felt a little stiff, but I was relaxed. I took a moment to scent my surroundings and was so occupied with taking in the moment that I missed the projectile at came flying at me.
