EMMA'S POV
"Carl come on now don't act like a lazy kid. You are the adult here so you should be the one to wake up soon and get ready first. But here I am a 16 year old trying to wake your lazy butt." I whined as I pulled the covers from Carl and shook him for the Nth time now. Well we slept a little late last night after he told me about his past. But its 11 am and he is still not getting up. I mean this is so lazy of him. He is the one who is always disciplined and going to work on time but today he has already skipped his breakfast and I don't think he is going for work.
Even Tody licked his face and I think he also wants Carl to wake up now. Suddenly I got an idea.
"Alright then. Sleep all you want mister because I am taking Tody for a walk. ALONE." I said the last word loudly so he could hear it and get up. But sadly he didn't even move. He still slept like dead. I huffed.
I should ignore his lazy butt and take Tody out. Poor baby looks at me with so much hope that his mommy will take him for a walk.
"You wanna go for a walk with mommy?" I asked lifting him in my arms.
"What do you say?" I asked and he barked a little. He was learning fast. Well I practically spent the whole morning training him to bark. I kept him down and went to change my clothes. After I found something good to wear I took Tody's belt and tied it around its leash.
I glanced at Carl's sleeping form and left the room. We both went outside to the lawn in the house and played a little. But Tody kept dragging me to the outside on the road. So I started taking him outside the mansions boundary but a guard stopped me at the gate.
"I am sorry Ma'am but we can't let you go out." He said politely. He was a huge security guard and his overall form scared both me and Tody who was hiding behind my legs.
What should I say now? If they say that they will ask to Carl then Carl will take forever to wake up and we would end up getting bored waiting for him. So I decided to lie a little. Just a little.
"Um but I already told Carl and he didn't object with me and Tody going out." I said.
It wasn't a lie actually. I had told him and he didn't respond anything so that means he had no problem in letting me out. Am I right?
The guard seemed to be in a deep thought as he examined my face for any lies but I stayed confident. Soon enough he nodded his head.
"Okay Ma'aam. You may go." He said opening the gates for us. I smiled at him and walked out with Tody.
"Lets enjoy our day out baby." I said to Tody who was looking at his surroundings in awe. I noticed that we live in an area that is a little away from the city and their are more trees here than buildings or people.
We walked for an hour as we took our time exploring the vicinity. There was a grocery I noticed and also a medical store. A small clothing boutique was also there and I noticed a few nice dresses on the menequins.
I saw a small cozy cafe and went there. I ordered a smoothie for me and milk for Tody. He had his breakfast but he was drooling at the milk a little girl drank so I bought some for him.
I sat on a chair outside the cafe. It was little cold today and I regretted wearing this short outfit. It wasn't even reaching mid thigh. Carl would have never allowed me to wear it outside but thank god he isn't here.
I was enjoying my order when a young man came to me with a sandwich in his hand and a coffee. He looked a nice gentle man by his looks. He was dressed in a suit and was a little younger than Carl.
He smiled politelt at me.
"May I have a sit here if you don't mind?" He asked motioning his hand to the chair opposite to me. I noticed that the cafe was full and the only chair empty was the one in front of me. So I didn't mind as he even looked descent and couldn't harm me.
"Okay." I said with a smile.
He sat in front of me and started eating.
I scrolled through my phone while I had my smoothie. Yes. My phone. Carl brought me a phone for emergency. Half way through the smoothie I heard someone clear their throat. I looked up from my phone to find the stranger man smiling at me. I gave back a smile too.
"Whats your name princess?" He asked. My face heated at the nickname. Its always only Carl to call me nicknames so I feel different when someone else does that.
"Emma. What's yours?" I asked being polite and trying to hide my nervousness.
"Vincent DeMalo." He said. Hmm nice name. His surname sounds like he is from some respected family. And even his attire looks like he is a rich man.
"So what are you doing all alone in the cafe at this time?" He asked me resting his elbows on the table. I noticed that he had finished his sandwich.
"I was just out to take Tody on a walk....Tody!" I said looking at the now empty space near my chair. He was here a minute ago but now he is not here. Where did he go?! I started looking here and there frantically. Where did he go? Is he hurt or something? I should not have left him alone. I can't even handle a dog properly I am such a mess. What will I say to Carl now? He gifted it with so much love and I lost it. A tear rolled down my eyes.
"Hey what happened? Any problem? Why are you crying?" The stranger man asked. I must be looking like a crazy girl right now.
"I...I...my dog..he is not here I mean he was here only but suddenly he dissappeared somewhere." I said as one more tear escaped my eyes. I realised that we both were standing. And this man was very tall.
"Hey its okay we will find it okay. Don't worry. How does it look?" He asked me.
"A puppy of golden retriever. Their is his name tag and my number on his leash." I said wiping my tears.
"Okay. Lets find it but you relax and please don't cry." He said and I nodded.
He went towards the other side of the cafe while I also started looking around. But he was no where to be found.
After 5 minutes I heard a very painful bark of a dog and my attention turned towards the road where Tody was standing. He stood still in the middle of the road and a car sped in his was in full speed. He looked at me frozen in his place just like me.
"Tody!" I screamed as the car approached him and closed my eyes with my hands as I could not prepare myself to see what was about to happen.
I heard the tyres still moving that means.....no!
I opened my eyes to see that the man Vincent now laid on the pavement on the otherside of the road with Tody covered in his arms. He saved Tody. I looked at the cars and then ran towards the other side of the road towards them.
I helped Vincent get up and also picked Tody up. I started kissing Tody everywhere. He looked scared and he also licked my face once he realised that he was with me and he was safe. I was crying more now thinking about what would have happened if Vincent would not have been here.
"Thank you thank you thank you so much!" I said hugging him tightly.
He chuckled and wrapped his arms around me.
"Its okay Emma. It was my job to save him." He said as I pulled away slightly embarrassed from my sudden outburst of emotions at him.
"No but still. You saved him when you knew you could get hurt. O my, god! Your elbow is bleeding Vincent." I said looking at the blood stain on his suit jacket near the elbow.
"Its okay. That's just a little wound. I am fine." He said shrugging. I shook my head at him.
"No. Its not fine. Lets take you to the hospital. It can be serious and its now my job to help you as you saved Tody." He looked at my face with a quizicall look on his face. I pouted.
"You are really nice person Emma. But you should not worry so much. I am fine. Do you want me to drop you home?" He asked changing the subject.
"No. Its okay I can go. I don't live too far. Its just an..." I realised that I had practically walked for an hour with Tody so how far exactly am I from the mansion? Where exactly I am? I don't remember the way back home. Oh god! I am lost now.
"Need any help angel?"
