*Piper*
I woke up to a ray of light shining in my eyes. Moaning softly, I pulled the blanket over my head.
"Piper." Mumbled Luca. "Turn off the light." I sighed and slapped the blanket over Luca as well. I snuggled close to his bare chest. He chuckled sleepily and pressed a kiss to my forehead.
"Are you tired?" He asked teasingly.
"Gee, no. I just-" I peered over my blanket at the alarm clock. "-Five hours slept."
"And that wasn't my fault." Luca laughed innocently. I playfully slapped him against his chest.
"Well." I slapped the blanket off me and quickly put on my dressing gown. Luca followed every move I made. "You were the reason I was awake." I winked. Luca sat down on the edge of the bed and pulled on his boxers.
"I'm going to take a shower." He said as he stretched. Luca left the room and I took off my dressing gown again. Quickly I put on my pyjamas so as not to look suspicious. Cheerful, but tired, I walked downstairs where Jason, Lyla and Adam were already sitting in the living room.
"Good morning." I mumbled as I plopped down on the sofa. Adam stared at me, grinning. "What?" he shook his head and avoided my gaze.
"What?" I asked again. He was chuckling a little louder now and it caught Jason's attention too.
"Am I missing something?" Asked Jason curiously.
"Jason, dear boy. You just be glad you slept downstairs last night." laughed Adam. Oh no. My face turned a little red which only made Adam laugh harder.
"Piper?" Jason asked with an angry undertone.
"There's nothing wrong, Jason." Said I calmly. Adam got up and walked to the kitchen. He remained standing in the opening of the door and looked back once more.
"Oh, Luca!" He shouted across the room.
"Adam!" I quickly grabbed a pillow from the couch and tried to throw it at him, but I was too late. He closed the door with a loud bang and you could still hear his laughter echoing. I looked uncomfortably at Jason who was sitting on his bed with clenched fists. Lyla looked at me smiling and held Jason's fist, which calmed him down a bit.
"Jason, honey. Piper won't always stay small. You need to let go of her a little." Said Lyla softly. Jason sighed and held out his arms to me. Carefully I jumped in and gave. Him a kiss on his cheek.
"I can never look at Luca normally now." Laughed Jason. "But Lyla's right. You're going to grow up and have to make your own choices."
"Thank you." Whispered I. I knew Jason would try, but he always remained protective of me and I was okay with that. ten minutes later, Adam came back into the room with freshly baked sandwiches.
"For you. To make up for it." I gratefully accepted the sandwiches and began to eat. Not much later, Felicia began to cry softly in her cot. Adam jumped up immediately.
"I'll give her the bottle!" He stormed out of the room to get Felicia's bottle. With sweat on his forehead he came running back.
"Come on Uncle Adam." It was so much fun to watch. Now that there was a little girl there, all the boys were suddenly becoming adults. Or well, as far as they could be grown up.
"Good morning folks." Said Luca who came walking into the room. His hair was still wet and stuck to his face. He sat down next to me and pressed a short, longing kiss to my lips. Then he looked around the room and his gaze stopped at Jason. I felt the tension between them.
"Is there anything?" Luca asked uncomfortably. Luk tilted his head slightly, but continued to look at him. I bent a little more towards Luca and whispered in his ear, "Jason again." Luca's eyes got big and he looked at me. Then he looked at Jason again and within two seconds he jumped off the couch and ran back upstairs.
"What a baby." Sigh Jason. "I was just about to tell you that I was okay with it."
"Haha, yeah sure." I laughed. Jason gave me a wink and took a bite of his own sandwich. He looked at Lyla who was hopelessly signalling the word 'mum' to Felicia.
"Say daddy." Said Jason with a full mouth. Within two minutes, a bet had been made. Jason and Lyla now both began to whisper their own word to Felicia.
"Boys." I sighed. I stood up and took Felicia out of Adam arms. "We all know she's going to say 'Aunt Piper' first." I stroked my finger over her little nose. Her eyes slowly opened and I swear she smiled at me.
"Piper, it's okay to take her outside. The pram stat outside under the canopy." Said Lyla. I happily got up and took Felicia to the changing table, where I tucked her in warmly, then walked out and put her in the car.
"Piper wait! I'm coming with you!" I heard Luca call from upstairs. I shook my head laughing and went back to tying Felicia up.
"Are you comfortable?" I asked in a childish tone. Felicia closed her eyes. "I suppose so." Luca came running out of the house, quickly putting on his winter coat.
"I expected Jason to be a lot angrier." He laughed. "It wasn't too bad." He opened the gate for me and I pushed the pram out. Luca, Felicia and I walked around the neighborhood for a bit. Many of our neighbours came to check on Felicia, who had dozed off by now.
"Oh no." Sigh Luca. "There you have Mrs. Ferrari." I looked at the woman who quickly put on a coat to come check on Felicia.
"Mrs who?"
"Long story." The woman with the pointed nose, or Mrs Ferrari as Luca called her, came walking towards us.
"Oh, what a pretty girl." She said childishly to Felicia. Felicia just woke up and stared at the face that hung above her.
"Look at those pretty eyes!" Kirde she. "She looks more like you." She said as she looked at me. She poked Felicia's cheek with her long, slender fingers. Uncomfortably, Luca and I stood looking at her.
"Oh, how nice." She sighed again. "But aren't you a little young to have a child." I looked at her in surprise.
"Who me? Oh no-"
"It's not bad child. I was very young myself when I had my first." She stared aimlessly into the distance. She suddenly seemed to wake up again " If you ever need a babysitter, you know where to find me. And you, young man," she warned Luca again. "Take care of your child and your girlfriend. They can't do it alone." And with those words she stormed back inside. Luca looked at me, not understanding.
"Why are men always the bad guys?" He asked in surprise. I laughed and pushed the pram towards our house.
"Piper?" Luca asked. "Do you want children too?"
"Yes, but not now." Luca nodded understandingly. All three of us were silent the rest of the way home.
"As a matter of fact, we already have a child. According to Mrs Ferrari then." He laughed when we were behind the house again. I slapped Luca's shoulder playfully. He wrapped his arms around me from behind as I lifted Felicia out of the car and pressed a kiss to my cheek.
"I love you, Piper."
"I love you too."
*Dad Patrick*
I stood in front of the large window of my office. I looked out over the empty plain behind the big grey shed. My men would contact me soon, but I have been without answers for five minutes now! Suddenly two frightened men came running into my office. I stared at them angrily and I felt them slack under my gaze. One tried to say something, but choked on his own words.
"What!" I snarled. The other man walked up to me and handed me a newspaper. "What am I supposed to do with this! Speak!"
"Look at the bottom of page 14 sir." He stammered. I slouched open the newspaper violently and flipped to the right page.
"We are very happy with the birth of our miracle. Felicia Williams. Born on December 24, 2015. Daughter of Jason Williams and Lyla Jones." I read out loud.
"Congratulations." Said the choking man nervously. I threw the newspaper in the bin and looked at the men piercingly.
"What a shame now that, that stupid child has to grow up without a father." I said.
"Uh-uhm sorry sir, but I'm afraid I have some news about your son."
"What?" I snarled. "Did he finally take the plunge."
"No, he's alive." My gaze shot up.
"Alive?"
"Yes, I saw him a few days back at my daughter's play. Piper was there too." I breathed heavily through my nose and sat down at my desk. I took a blank card from my drawer and took a pen from the tray."
"Dear Lyla, Jason and Felicia,
I was delighted when I heard the good news. I hope that one day I can hold the little girl in my arms.
Love Grandpa."
