As soon as Mila got into the car, Elaine asked anxiously, “Mila, be honest with me. Which rich man did you hook up with? How can you afford to live in the expensive Dragon Bay?”

Elaine still remembered coming to check out the houses when Dragon Bay opened. In the end, she was scared away by the properties that would cost her tens of millions.

With Mila’s current work situation, it was absolutely impossible for her to afford the rent here. That meant that Mila had a man!

“What rich man?” Mila glared at her coquettishly, then said lightly, “I’m married.”

Mila stroked her messy hair. “Elaine, can you calm down?”

Elaine took a deep breath and looked at Mila in shock. She questioned loudly, “What did you say? You’re married?”

“Yes, I just got my marriage certificate yesterday,” Mila replied lightly.

“Mila, we’ve been good friends for so many years, but you didn’t tell me you were getting married. I don’t even know when you had a boyfriend. You’re having a secret relationship!”

Elaine was furious and shocked. She treated Mila as a good friend, but Mila kept her marriage a secret. If she hadn’t found out Mila had moved, who knew how long she would keep the news to herself?

After calming down, Elaine drove to the nearest cafeteria and asked for a small private room. As soon as she entered, she said solemnly, “Mila, tell me the truth. Otherwise, don’t even think about walking out of this door today!”

Mila cleared her throat and said, “Do you remember that I had a betrothal when I was young? It was because my grandfather saved Old Mr. Chapman’s life. That man and I went on a blind date the night before yesterday, and we got married yesterday.”

“What? Are you crazy?! You’ve only known him for a day, and you’ve already married him! You don’t know him at all! You got married on an impulse!”

At this moment, Elaine wasn’t angry anymore, but she felt like her good friend had been stolen away.

“He’s fine.” Mila paused before adding, “He’s quite handsome. He has a car and a house.”

She really didn’t know Chaucer well enough. Other than these superficial things, she couldn’t say anything else.

Mila covered her mouth and laughed. “It’s not as exaggerated as you put it. I just think it’s time to get married, and he just happens to be suitable.”

Elaine shook her head in resignation.

“Let me show you Chaucer’s photo.” As she spoke, Mila took out the marriage certificate from her bag and handed it to Elaine.

“Shit!” Elaine exclaimed, then looked at Mila in disbelief. “This dude is really handsome! No wonder he charmed you so much. I wouldn’t be able to withstand it either! You know what? The two of you are quite compatible when you stand together!”

On the marriage certificate, the woman had a smile on her face and was gentle and pleasant. The man’s expression was solemn, cold, and serious. They were indeed a good match.

Mila smiled wholeheartedly. She put the marriage certificate back into her bag.

After a while, the dishes they ordered were all served. They chatted as they ate.

“Marrying Chaucer is the most impulsive thing I’ve done in the past twenty years. I haven’t found the courage to tell my parents yet!” Mila frowned, not knowing how to explain it to her family.

Elaine was speechless. “You’ve done a shocking thing in silence! You usually look obedient, but you actually got married behind your family’s back.”

Marriage was a big deal in life. The longer she hid it from her parents, the more troublesome it would be. Elaine said, “I think you should tell your parents as soon as possible. Don’t wait for them to find out. You’ll suffer!”

Mila nodded. “Alright. I’ll tell them when we get home tomorrow.”

The other night, Mila asked her mother for her opinion. Her mother was very supportive of her marrying Chaucer, but Mila took action before telling her mother about it.

“That’s more like it.” Elaine gave the last piece of brown sugar rice cake to Mila.

After dinner, Elaine drove Mila home. As soon as she entered the house, Mila took her pajamas into the bathroom.

After a tiring day, Mila fell asleep immediately after getting into bed.

The following day when Mila opened her eyes, it was already ten in the morning. She quickly got dressed and left the house. She first went to the market to buy some of her parents’ favorite dishes, then hailed a taxi by the roadside.
