After dinner, Mila took a shower and went to bed.
On the other hand, Chaucer and her good friend Eason hadnât seen each other for a long time, and Chaucer ended up drinking too much. Eason had to make sure Chaucer returned home safely.
However, Chaucer was barely conscious. He only said he wanted to return to Dragon Bay but didnât say the exact location.
Eason had no choice but to take out Chaucerâs phone and unlock it with Chaucerâs fingerprint. Then, he called the number with the name âMrs. Chapmanâ.
At first, Eason thought the number belonged to Chaucerâs mother, but when the call went through, he heard a slightly irritable womanâs voice.
Mila was sleeping soundly when she was suddenly woken up by her phone. She picked it up angrily and bellowed, âChaucer, whatâs wrong with you?! Why are you calling me at this hour?â
Mila was usually a mild person, but once someone disturbed her sleep, she could explode immediately.
Eason, who was holding the phone, was stunned.
Mila asked impatiently, âWhy are you calling me?â
âUm⦠are you Chaucerâs family?â
Hearing the strangerâs voice, Mila immediately woke up and sat up abruptly. Her voice also became gentle. âYes, I am.â
Milaâs heart skipped a beat, and she quickly asked, âWhat happened to Chaucer? Did he get into a car accident?â
Eason was speechless.
Did this woman have a grudge against Chaucer? Couldnât she say something nice?
âNo! Heâs fine. Heâs just drunk,â Eason explained immediately. âMy name is Eason. Iâm Chaucerâs friend. Weâre at the entrance of Dragon Bay. Where exactly is his place? Iâll send him back home.â
âThatâs good. You scared me back there.â Mila heaved a sigh of relief and immediately told Eason her home address.
âAlright. Weâll be there in a minute.â
After hanging up, Mila got up and found a long dress to put on. She turned on the lights in the living room and sat on the sofa to wait for Chaucer to come back.
After a while, she heard approaching footsteps. Mila immediately stood up and walked to the door. Looking out through the peephole, she saw a tall and handsome man supporting Chaucer as he walked.
Eason was about to knock when Mila pushed the door open.
âH-hello.â
A trace of shock flashed across Easonâs eyes as he looked at the stunning woman.
âThank you for sending Chaucer back.â Mila expressed her gratitude first, then said mildly, âChaucer is drunk, so I wonât invite you in. Itâs already so late, you should get back home.â
âOkay, but can you manage him?â
Eason glanced at the petite woman. She looked so soft and weak that she couldnât even lift a bucket of water. Could she help Chaucer walk?
âI can.â
With that, Mila took Chaucer from Eason and put Chaucerâs arm around her shoulder. She held Chaucerâs waist with one hand and helped him into the room.
Mila threw him on the bed and returned to the living room. Seeing that Eason hadnât left, she said goodbye softly and closed the door.
Eason walked to the entrance of the district in a daze. When he got into the car, he remembered he still didnât know who this woman was to Chaucer. However, the name on Chaucerâs phone was âMrs. Chapmanâ, so she was probably his girlfriend.
When Mila passed by Chaucerâs room, she paused and went into the bedroom in resignation. She helped him take off his suit jacket, shoes, and socks, then put a blanket over him before going back to bed.
The next day, it was already nine oâclock when Mila opened her eyes. After washing her face and brushing her teeth, she changed into her loungewear and walked out of her room.
The door of the master bedroom was still closed. It was rare for Chaucer to sleep in.
Mila went to the kitchen and started preparing breakfast. She made two bowls of seafood porridge and steamed a few buns and shrimp dumplings.
After breakfast, she suddenly remembered Chaucer was drunk last night, so she made him a glass of honey water.
Chaucer woke up in the bedroom, still wearing the clothes from last night, which emitted a strong smell of alcohol. He immediately got up, took a shower, changed his clothes, and left the room.
Mila was tidying up the kitchen. When she saw him come out, she quickly brought out the breakfast that was kept warm in the pot.
âThank you.â
Chaucer thought Mila was still angry with him and wouldnât prepare breakfast for him, but when he woke up, there was a delicious breakfast in the kitchen.
âEat it before it gets cold.â Mila placed the honey water in front of Chaucer and said softly, âYou must have a headache from the hangover. Youâll be fine after having some honey water.â
Chaucer was indeed a little dizzy. He picked up the glass and took two sips.
Not only did she make breakfast, but she also made honey water for him. She seemed to really care about him.
