The other reason for Gerald to move out of Cherry Garden was that he wanted to completely cut ties with Mary’s family!

Gerald stopped and looked at her. “So you were the one who hooked up with Adriel, not Irene? Didn’t she cheat on me and dump me once she hooked up with a rich man?”
