"Ok, but have you ever tried salt with water?" Matthew asks Ricky
"No, why the fuck would I try that?"
"Yeah, who even tries that!" Says Gunwook, a friend of Matthew. Matthew stays silent before raising his hand
"Hear me out..."
"Oh my god Matthew, why would you even try that?" I say between laughs
"It's not that bad once you try it okay?!" he says in a insulted tone
"Sure..." Ricky says, his face showing disgust "anyways, do y'all know where Gyuvin is?"
"No. Last time I saw him was in class," I say "now that I think about it, he's probably with Taerae"
"Who?" Ricky asks
"A boy from our class. They seem pretty close" I say
"Oh. Ok then" Ricky says in a quiet voice
"Or... he could be with Jiwoong" Matthew says, noticing how Ricky didn't like the sound of Taerae
"Speaking of Jiwoong, are you guys going on the trip all together to the beach?" I ask
"Yeah. I mean, I am" Matthew says while Gunwook shakes his head
"I want to stay here," he says "What about you? Ricky, Hanbin?"
"I'm not going. Ricky is though" I say. Ricky nods and I then notice him looking at the cafeteria door. I turn around to see Gyuvin with Taerae.
"Oh, I guess I was right" I whisper to Ricky.
Before I can say anything more, he stands up and walks towards the pair with determined steps. I see him tap Gyuvin's shoulder and tell him something, before looking at Taerae and smiling coldly at him. As he seems to walk away, I see Gyuvin grab at his lower arm to stop him from leaving, then tells him something, and then lets him go once again.
"What are you smirking at, Hanbin?" Cho asks, coming up to our table
"Oh, nothing special," I say with a smile, patting the empty seat next to mine that belonged to Ricky "how were classes?"
"Ugh, horrible. The English teacher screamed at me. The worst part is that I didn't understand what she was screaming at me about."
I laugh at her disappointed expression. She leans her head on the table and looks at me with tired eyes.
"Tired?" I ask. Instead of answering, she just slightly nods her head before picking at the food on the food tray
"Maybe after this go to the grass and sleep until the next class" I say
"Or you could just skip" Jiwoong says, who is in the process of sitting next to Matthew
Once me and Cho started hanging out, my friends also got closer to her and welcomed her as a new friend.
"No, I already skipped too many times" she says, shaking her head in gloom
"Or you could put ice cold water on your face" Matthew says while everyone else agrees
"I guess so..." she says. We stay in silence until Gyuvin comes with Taerae at his side
"Hey guys! This is Taerae by the way" He says with a smile, sitting down with his tray, Taerae following his lead. We all greet both warmly
"Hanbin, are you sure you don't wanna come to the beach? It'll be so fun" Jiwoong says
"No, I can't, sorry" I say. Cho looks around in confusion, not knowing what we are talking about
"They're planning to go on a trip together" I explain. Cho opens her mouth in understanding
"Why can't you go though?" She asks
"I need to take care of my sister" I say, trying to hide the scowl from my face
"At this point you should just send her to the other side of the world. Just buy a plane ticket and there she goes" Jiwoong says
"I wish" I say laughing. The relationship hasn't gotten better with her sleeping in my room. To be honest, nothing's changed. We never even talk, and completely neglect each other. I'm surprised that she doesn't even blast music when I'm in the room. Honestly, I still just hope that the whole spider situation gets taken care of.
"You have siblings?" Cho says. I then immediately remember that I told her that I didn't.
"Well, she's not exactly my sister. She's my step sister, so not really a blood related sibling." I say quickly. She nods her head and then goes back to eating.
"How old is she?" she asks
"I don't really know," I say, embarrassed at my lack of knowledge of my own sister. "She's around Yujin's age I guess. They're in the same grade"
"Speaking of Yujin, is he better?" Gyuvin asks. I shrug
"I haven't seen him at all since yesterday"
"Why? What happened to him?" Gunwook asks
"We don't know. He just seemed pretty down yesterday," Gyuvin says, before pointing at the other side of the cafeteria. "Speaking of the angel"
We turn our heads and see the said boy taking his food from the counter.
"Yujin!" Gyuvin calls out loudly, making heads turn towards us. Yujin looks bewildered before smiling and waving. He walks towards us and smiles at me
"Hyung, thanks for yesterday" he says
"No problem!" I say with an equally warm smile "are you feeling better?"
"Oh, yes, don't worry about it. I think yesterday was only a one day random emo phase or something like that" he says, making half the table laugh
"Where's Ricky by the way?" Asks Jiwoong. I turn my head towards Gyuvin, who was the last person he spoke with under my sight. Instead, the boy just shrugs
"He didn't say" he says
"Then what did he tell you?" Gunwook asks
"He just asked me to give him back a pencil I borrowed from him" he says in return, not looking up and calmly eating his food.
"I'll go look for him then" I say, standing up
"I'll go with you" Cho says, ready to stand up
"No, it's fine. I need to talk to him privately about something" I reply, making sure that Gyuvin feels my stare.
I walk away and scoff at the boy. He really thinks that we're dumb. I don't know what they really said to each other, but it was definitely not about a borrowed pencil. How do I know that you might ask? First of all, the conversation was too long to be about that. Second of all, why were they whispering to each other if it was about a pencil? And third of all, why didn't Gyuvin just take it out of his bag if he had it right there with him?
I walk down the hallway, trying to find Ricky. That is, until I enter the library. There he is, sitting on the couch and staring at his phone with bored eyes.
"Hey, handsome boy" I say. He looks up and rolls his eyes
"Hey peasant boy" he says in return. I laugh and sit next to him. We stay in silence and I try to formulate my words inside my head before actually saying them. Clearly, Ricky notices the silence and turns his head towards me in confusion
"What?" he asks. I stare at him and wonder how to start the conversation. There is clearly a reason why he tries to hide it, so i don't know if I should talk about it until he's comfortable.
""Is there something you need to tell me?" I finally say
"About what?"
"About a certain person? About maybe... I don't know... Gyuvin?"

Ok, who here is scared of the sea? because I'm absoutely terrified. Like just imagining the deep and dark parts of the sea with creepy and dangerous sea creatures already makes me wanna cry. I don't understand people who like the sea tbh. It's pretty and all I agree and that's why I like going to the beach, but entering the sea is just a no no.
That's ironic for me to say though because I do scuba diving.
Anyways, i'm so excited for zb1 to debutttt!!!
