Rae refuted, âIâve never even had a man before!â
âLies!â Marcel said coldly, âIf youâre a virgin, then Iâm a virgin too!â
Rae didnât know why Marcel would say something like this. She suddenly found herself unable to communicate with this man. She had also said words that were too bold and had done even much bolder things. She shouldnât of have had any of these emotions. She quieted down abruptly and didnât say another word.
The car fell dead silent instantly and their breathing became murky and heavy. It was so quiet that every inch of their breathing could be heard.
It seemed like a century had passed, and Rae spoke up shamefully all of a sudden, âI donât know why youâre humiliating me, but you donât know what kind of a person I am. Why are you always speculating me with your greatest malice?â
Marcel was stunned when Rae said that and he looked incredulously at her who had a determined face.
Rae bit her lips abruptly, because frankly speaking, she was feeling conflicted at the moment as well. She just felt that she was wronged and wanted to say it, âIâve never had a messy relationship and Iâve never had a man. Why donât you believe me? I only have one crush that Iâve liked for many years, is this also wrong? And whether Iâm a virgin or not, do you think you know better, or I know better?â
Marcel didnât say anything. His lips were pursed tight.
âAt first, I thought you were a professional person, very leader-like and responsible. But now it seems that what I thought was wrong! I think itâs a joke that our relationship isnât like superior and underling or colleagues, weâre like sexual partners instead! And you, whatâs the point of you being caring to me sometimes and humiliating me sometimes? Just tell me straightforwardly now. What do you want from me, I want to know!â
Marcel pondered slightly, âAre you really still a virgin?â
Rae frowned, âYes!â
Marcel didnât say anything. He was thinking that repairing the hymen wouldnât cost a lot, there were advertisements everywhere in the toilet.
He didnât continue to mock her and just said, âForget it, itâs my fault. I shouldnât have said something like that.â
Rae calmly said, âI hope we can just be colleagues in the future, and you will only be my leader!â
âThatâs a bit impossible.â Marcel said.
âWhy?â
âBecause I only have desire for you. I get hard when I see you and I canât get hard with anyone else, so I want to chase you!â Marcel changed his words.
âChase? Donât you just want to fuck me?â
âIs there a difference?â Marcel asked back indifferently.
Rae looked at him driving. He had one hand on the steering wheel, and his casual look made people thought that he wasnât even sad at all. This was definitely not a man who was chasing a woman, he just wanted to have sex with her from the very beginning. She also had the desire for him, but she couldnât accept such a way.
Rae shook her head, âThank you for your pursuit, but I already have someone in my heart. If you canât get hard on another woman, you can take Viagra!â
âHeh!â Marcel drew in a cold breath, âIâm not sick, why do I need to eat that stuff? Thatâs how peopleâs body get bad, by taking that stuff!â
It had nothing to do with her, and Rae coldly grunted inside. She looked the other way to discontinue the conversation and changed the subject, âSo whoâs the murderer? Mathew? Braeden Walls?â
âNeither!â Marcel said.
âThen who is it?â Rae turned around and looked at the side of Marcelâs face with surprise.
His face was still so cold looking. He also took the advantage of the red light, stopped the car and turned his face to look at Rae, âI wonât tell you who it is. But if you promise to let me chase you, then I can tell you! Itâs definitely not as simple as you think. This case is quite interesting, and Iâve got the murderer under control!â
âWho is it?â Rae still wasnât giving up.
Marcel smiled profoundly, âThereâs a price to pay in order to know, Rae Baxter!â
Raeâs heart trembled, and her expression darkened instantly, âForget it. Iâll know sooner or later even if you donât want to tell me!â
âWhat if itâs related to Raphael?â Marcel became unhappy all of a sudden when he saw her like this.
âImpossible!â Raeâs face lifted up instantly, and with certainty in her eyes, âRaphael is innocent!â
Marcelâs eyes looked at Rae, his hawk-like eyes were filled with displeasure. She was defending Raphael so much that it made him unhappy for no reason. He suppressed the anger that ignited and had hidden it in his dark eyes. Yet his face was covered in coldness, looking chilling.
The green light flashed, and Marcel stopped talking. He started the car and crossed the road.
He eventually took Rae to a restaurant which specialized in cooking steak.
Until they sat down in a small private room, Rae didnât hear Marcel said another word to her again and he was silent with whatever she said.
She felt even more stifled to come out and had this meal with him. She really shouldnât have had eaten outside when she was wounded.
âWho the hell is it?â Rae couldnât stand it and finally asked again.
Yet Marcel said, âI donât want to talk about it when Iâm eating!â
âButââ
âOr you can be my girlfriend. The kind that can live together.â Marcel interrupted her and directly stated his request.
But Rae didnât like a love that was based on any conditions. Love wasnât anything else, the most sacred love should be pure and without conditions attached! She yearned for that kind of love.
This time it was Raeâs turn to stop talking. She didnât say a word during the whole meal. The two of them ate a whole table of dishes and Rae wasnât being polite at all. She began to eat after the dishes came up, and she felt it was the first time ever that she had eaten so much. She didnât know how she ate in the amount that was enough for a strong man to eat. It was probably because she was angry, so she just wanted to eat and relieve her mood.
They paid the bill and was ready to leave. The waiter had already left the room and Rae was heading for the door when Marcel suddenly grabbed her with one hand.
Rae turned her head back with shock, and just before she could raise her head, a black shadow pressed down and she was pressed against the door of the room. Her hands were clamped down and Marcelâs lips were already pressing down.
Marcel was so quick to lower his head and covered her lips. He only let go of Rae when she almost couldnât breathe.
Rae gasped and coughed violently. She glanced at the gloomy looking Marcel, then headed out without saying a thing.
She was just going to take it as being gnawed by a dog!
But damn it, Rae didnât know if Piperâs words had affected her, because she was feeling an uncomfortable emptiness inside!
She was 25 now, but still never had sex. She really felt shameful!
Looking at the leaving figure, Marcel breathed a sigh of relief. He felt fear in the moment when Rae defended Raphael. He feared that she was together with Raphael, and then all of the efforts that he had made would be meaningless.
Back to the office.
Rae snooped around, but in the end still couldnât find out how many people Marcel had privately arranged for action.
She was coming back from outside when Gustavo saw her walking with a limp and walked up to her quickly. His eyes anxiously scanned Rae, âWhatâs wrong, Rae? What happened to your leg?â
Gustavo was a medical student after all, so he could see with one glance that something was wrong with Raeâs leg.
âBoneâs fractured!â Rae said, âBut itâs fine, itâll recover soon.â
Although her outer ankle was painful, but she was still touched by the look on Gustavoâs face who showed that he genuinely cared about her, âIâm really fine!â
âWhy are you still here if your boneâs fractured? You need to stay home and nurse this!â
âLetâs not talk about this first, Gustavo. Do you know whoâs the murderer of Philippa, Melody Knox and Joanna Salinasâs murder case?â
Gustavo shook his head, âCaptain Hopkins probably knows it. He caught a person you wouldnât have ever think of!â
âWho?â Rae was still a bit surprised. People could never guess anything with the way Marcel did things. He had it all figured out when other people were in the dark. She felt that working with Marcel sometimes was quite suffocating. She couldnât get any answers by asking, and if he didnât say it out himself then others wonât know as well.
âRaphael Gillâs mother!â Gustavo said.
âWhat?â Rae was shocked. Mrs Gill? Raphaelâs motherâs name was Sammy, an elegant and feminine woman! âWhy arrest her?â
âHow would I know? I heard sheâs suspected of murder. Captain Hopkins brought the person back personally early this morning.â Gustavo said.
Rae had no idea. And what happened with Raphael? He hadnât called her until now. Did he still donât know yet?
âWas Mrs Gill really arrested?â Rae was still a bit in disbelief.
âHow can this be fake? Of course itâs true! Her lawyer came with her as well. But I heard that Captain Hopkins said something to Raphael Gillâs mother and then she just came! Also, she was very quiet since she came and didnât say a word no matter what was said to her. Probably have to transfer her to the prosecution for her to start talking!â
It was just too surprising and shocking!
âBut there should be direct evidence already, otherwise Captain Hopkins would never do such a thing. The case will be transferred to the prosecutorâs office tomorrow afternoon. There will be the last place that is able to defend for the dead! Letâs just hurry up and find the evidence first!â
Rae was still in shock. She took quite some time to come back to her senses and patted her own face, âGustavo, do you think I can go meet Mrs Gill?â
âIâm not sure about that. You can go find Captain Hopkins, then maybe you can. Captain Hopkins has the final say on all of this.â Gustavo felt that it should be possible if Rae went and begged him.
But Rae was hesitant to go and beg Marcel. With what he had said when they were eating outside today, how could she go and beg him? However, if she didnât beg him, then what about Raphael? Was he mentally prepared?
Rae hesitated, and finally after spending half an hour in conflict, she decided to go to Marcel. She wanted to know why exactly Sammy was being detained.
When Rae limped into Marcelâs office, he was sorting out something on the computer. It was strange, as it was usually done by her, the secretary, or the head of the criminal investigation team below to organize the case files, so he only needed to sign. But he had a habit of organizing some of the things by himself. This was also one of Marcelâs habits that Rae found out in the past few days.
His expression was calm and there was seriousness between his eyebrows. His handsome face didnât have that evil recklessness when he was joking, nor the usual displeasure when her words didnât match his temper. He was so serious and calm looking at the computer, typing fast.
Marcel only said a few words when he saw her coming in, âSit down. Anything weâll talk about it later, Iâm busy!â
Rae could only sit down and waited.
She looked at Marcel who was working seriously sitting behind the desk, and suddenly a feeling of respect emerged from her heart. It was as if she was back to the beginning when she had long admired him. Tenderness also surged from the bottom of her heart. Looking at his face, her admiration was like water gushing out, it didnât lessen but had increased instead. Only then did Rae realize that she couldnât resist Marcel when he was serious.
âCaptain Hopkins, I only have a few words to say!â Rae spoke up all of a sudden. She tried to calm herself down, but that voice that she had tried so hard to restrain had an excitement and admiration that only she knew. Ignoring those bad temper of his, those cruel humiliations and flirtations, Rae felt that she still liked him like before.
