Emily wiped her tears and pulled her shades down. 'Its not worth it' She thought before getting up and dragging her suitcase on the streets. She breathing was long and hard as she tried to control herself from crying.
After walking for a few kilometers, she found a decent hotel. She stood at the reception and booked a room with the card her dad had given her when she was leaving for New York.
"Can I get someone to carry my bag, please?" She asked the receptionist.
"Off course ma'am" he said before asking a bellboy to carry her suitcase.
They landed on the 10th floor and the bellboy opened her room and set her suitcase in it.
"Anything else ma'am?" He asked.
"Not for now. If I need anything I'll give the reception a call. Thank you" she smiled before handing him 5 dollars as tip.
She removed her shades and her coat and threw herself on the bed. Closed her eyes as Daisy's words flashed across her mind. She sat up in a swift motion as if it was a nightmare. She decided to take her mind off by watching the television.
As she was browsing through the channels, Louis called.
"Hey sweetie"
"Hey dad"
"The bank notified me of the transaction at the hotel.... I'm guessing it didn't go well with Daisy" he said slowly and carefully.
"No... she cheated on me last year...just a day after our anniversary. You could say today is her cheating anniversary or my betrayal anniversary" she chuckled as an uncontrollable tear fell down her cheek.
"Are you okay?"
"That's a tricky question dad." She fell silent before going further "I wanna say I am okay but I am really not"
"When are you coming back?" He asked.
"I don't know" she said before turning her head to look out the window. "I wanna stay here for a while and explore."
"You want you Papa or me to come there?"
"No no dad. I'm fine. I think its time that I deal with my grief on my own" she laughed.
"You know there's no harm in being mentally dependent, right? Everyone needs someone"

"Yes dad... I think I just want to spend some time with myself" she said.
"That's okay. Just keep talkong to us or if you get busy then at least update us on your situation and whereabouts. Okay sweetie?"
"Yes dad" she smiled.
"Also, don't worry about the money. Spend as much as you want"
"Dad, if money could have kept me happy, I waould have dated money" she rolled her eyes.
"Why do I know that you are rolling your eyes?" Louis asked with an amused tone.
"Because you know me too well. Anyways, I'm gonna go. Bye, I love you"
"Love you too sweetie" he said before hanging up.
She browsed through the channels to find nothing worth getting her out of her misery. She had nothing to do that could ever make her forget Daisy's words and she knew that.
She called the spa that the hotel had and booked herself an appointment for the evening. Even though she was jet lagged, she was adamant on making herself happy.
She pulled out a pair of black skinny jeans and put on a very loose cream colored turtle neck sweater. Since the weather was very cold outside she shurgged on a dark brown coat who's sleeves covered her palms.
"I packed papa's coat" she slapped her head as she realized the size was double her own size and could smell him on it. She felt comfortable in it so she decided to keep it on.
She left her backpack in the room and just grabbed the wallet and kept it in the inside pocket. A little dab of makeup hid her tired face but she still needed her shades to hide her bloodshot red eyes.
She locked her room and gave the key to the receptionist before walking out of the hotel and moving aimlessly around. Her breathing was creating fog in front of her as she walked. Everyone walked past her, along her in their own world. No one paying attention to the lonely aura Emily carried with herself.
She reached in front of a starbucks which was filled with people. It was too crowded to even have a place to stand.
A singer with his guitar stood outside playing songs. Some were famous songs heard on every radio and some seemd to be original pieces. Everyone went past him and dropped coins in his guitar case but not one person stopped to listen to him. She wanted to listen to hum but she was also craving for a hot cup of coffee. The line inside the starbucks was too long.
She sighed as her eyes fell upon a small coffee shop just opposite of the starbucks. It was so small that the other big shops adjacent to it almost camouflaged it. She ran across the street and saw an old lady behind the counter. She smiled before getting in.
"Hello" the old lady greeted.
"Can I get a cup of coffee to go please?" Emily asked.
"Off course dear" the lady was too excited to finally see a costumer after a long day of waiting behind the counter.
Emily looked around and felt warm in the environment. She took out her phone and clicked a nice picture of her with the wall of wooden planks as her background.
"Here you go. Here's a muffin"
"I'm sorry but I didn't ask for a muffin"
"You seem sad for some reason. Your smile betrays what's in your heart. Besides all my family says that these are the best muffins they have ever had."
"If they say so then pack five more cause this grief ain't gonna go away with only one muffin" Emily smiled a true smile.
"As you wish"
The lady handed her the packet of muffins.
"Can I get a picture with you?"
"Me?" The old lady was surprised by the request.
"Yeah... the muffin was delicious and you are really cute... you remind me on my grandmother... she died due to cancer."
"Oh I'm sorry dear" she said before leaning on the counter so that Emily could take a picture of her.
Emily smiled before leaving the coffee shop and running back to the singer who was still singing. She sipped on her coffee and stood there as she listened to him.
She pulled out a few dollars and slipped it into his guitar case. The man nodded at her with a smile, thanking her.
"Here" she said tossing him a muffin. "These are the best muffins you'll ever have"
The man catched the muffin and grinned at her.
"Thanks"
"No worries. Whatever your next song might be, can I record it?" Emily asked.
"Sure, if you want to. Thanks.... everyone pays me but no one ever really stopped and listened to me. After a while it seemed like it was all about the money... its after such a long time that I feel me again" he said earnestly.
She nodded at him in acknowledgment before taking out her phone to start recording as he finished his muffin and started playing one of his original songs.
After dropping a few more dollars, Emily thanked thean for his amazing music and walked away. She kept her head up, watching her high buildings that seemed to intimidate her. She was so small compared to it, in fact everyone was so small compared to it yet it was one of these small people that built it.
She pulled out another muffin and ate it while she looked through the shops. So many brands around her and everything looked so gorgeous yet every dress that caught her eyes made her think how good it would look on Daisy.
It was difficult to get her out of the head. It became more difficult when she saw her.
