Chapter 132 Pride
Part 2
âAn illusionâ¦â¦ Maybe? With a build like that, he probably isnât a vanguard.â (Hay)
âAn illusion with substance? Thatâs ridiculous. It would be more convincing if you say he used his body to defend!â (Arnold)
Hunters are always assuming the unknown, but no matter what, there is a limit to it. If you assume that your opponent is omniscient and omnipotent, then you canât become Hunter.
Think of all the possibilities and deny those yourself.
If you donât make your opponent draw his sword, you canât even assume how you should stand against him.
If there was one way to win, then ââ It would be for Arnold to face him with all his strength. ãHeavy Lightning Strikeã is Arnoldâs Alias, the name he won by his own hand and also the name of his strongest attack.
Whether it is a barrier or his body, all I have to do is to strike him with a blow that surpasses all of it. A simple answer, one that Arnold likes.
However, if an attack that ãInfinite Varietyã canât withstand comes at him, he will at least dodge it. The dodging ability of a Hunter who has reached Level 8 canât be low. It is hard to believe that the big move will land.
As Arnold calmed his anger and thought, a voice called out to him from behind.
It is the voice of someone reckless who doesnât know anything.
âOssan! Could it be that Ossanâs goal is ãInfinite Varietyã?â (Gilbert)
ââ¦â¦â (Arnold)
I raised my face and glared at him, but Gilbert didnât show any particular reaction and for some reason nodded with a moving expression.
His Party Members behind him were looking at him with a shocked expression. But that didnât stop Gilbert, who couldnât read the mood, to talk.
âI know, I understand. He is also my goal. I canât avoid him if Iâm going to be the strongest Hunter. Because I have to get back my Sword of Purgatory. â¦â¦ Well, I donât think I can beat him at all, yet.â (Gilbert)
ââ¦â¦â (Arnold)
Words that were so arrogant. Gilbert has a decent talent and if you judge him from his current abilities, he is mid-level, but from Arnoldâs perspective, he is still not good enough. I donât think that the attack of the brat in front of me will penetrate ãInfinite Varietyâsã defence while Arnoldâs attack couldnât do it at all.
Gilbert sat down in front of Arnold, bit into the, who knows what kind of meat it was, meat skewer and said while chewing.
âI did my research on him. Weeell, like I said before, I didnât get detailed information. But, I understood something.â (Gilbert)
ââ¦â¦ What?â (Arnold)
When Arnold asked back without having a lot of expectation, Gilbert crossed his arms and said with a frown.
âIt is that ãInfinite Varietyã isnât a âThief (Tozoku)â or a âSwordsman (Kenshi)â or a âPaladin (Shugo Kishi)â or a âMagi (Madoshi)â or an âAlchemist (Renkinjutsushi)â. Apparently, before becoming a Hunter, ãInfinite Varietyã was careful to not get the same job class as his friends.â (Gilbert)
Most of the job class Gilbert said was the most common one.
Most Hunters fall into one of those categories. If it is different from those, then there are only a few possible job classes left.
ââ¦â¦â¦â¦ Then, what? Donât tell me you want to say that he is a Healer (Writer)?â (Arnold)
âNo, because he used a Relic to healâ¦â¦ He probably isnât one. He also doesnât have a weapon like a âWarrior (Senshi)â ââ Even after thinking about it, I couldnât figure it out. I was wondering if Ossan was able to figure it out.â (Gilbert)
Said Gilbert weakly. What a useless man.
However, we didnât have any information to begin with. If what he said was true, then it will at least be useful as a reference.
As Arnold began to ponder again, Hay said.
âIn any case, letâs take a rest for today. The chase will restart tomorrow, itâs hard without a carriage, but we can look for one in a city along the way.â (Hay)
ââ¦â¦ Do you know where ãInfinite Varietyã is heading to?â (Arnold)
I donât think there are any wheel tracks left around. At Arnoldâs question, Hay twisted his lips into a smile.
Because of the tension, Arnold is reflected in his dilated pupil.
âAaaah, those guys, I donât know why, but they were waiting for us to track them. He said in a small voice, but ââ I heard him say it when he was by the lake. Our next destination is ââ
ãCastle of a Myriad Demons (Night Palace)ã.â (Hay)
âWhatâ¦â¦?â (Arnold)
The ãCastle of a Myriad Demons (Night Palace)ã. Arnold was familiar with that name. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
It is known as one of the most difficult Treasure Shrine existing in all of Zebrudia. And it is also the Treasure Shrine that ãStrange Griefã is capturing right now.
The capture recommended level is Level ââ 8. An ultra-difficult Treasure Shrine that didnât exist in Nebranubes, the base Arnold and his companions used to be in.
My body was shaking. I was shaking in excitement.
The Members of ãCrimson Flame (Fire Gale)ã looked at each other in the tense situation.
âIs he telling us to try to get him. If you want to chase after me, you need to do at least that much, hah.â (Arnold)
The Members who were on ãInfinite Varietyâsã carriage were weak. Leaving aside the fact that the one who looked the weakest was ãInfinite Varietyã, if he is trying to capture a Level 8 Treasure Shine, they are an unreliable capture force to go with him.
No matter how strong ãAbsolute Shadowã and ãInfinite Varietyã are, they wouldnât be able to capture the Treasure Shrine with just that. In terms of force, even if they are exhausted, Arnold and his companions seem to be better than his, as they have a full Party.
âThey might try to regroup.â (Hay)
âFuunhâ¦â¦ If I was afraid of that, I wouldnât have pursued him in the first place.â (Arnold)
Face off against the strong. This is also one of a Hunterâs instinct.
I was going to capture it eventually. You can say that this was a good opportunity to do it.
Arnold smiled in a ferocious and beast-like smile, while Hay shrugged his shoulders and looked back at his companions.
A Party shared their destiny together. The time for the decisive battle is close.

In the middle of a pouring rain, Sytry was looking at the ãCastle of a Myriad Demonsã with her binoculars and told me with a troubled expression.
âAaaahâ¦â¦ It looks like they arenât here anymore. Seems like we missed each other. There isnât any carriage.â (Sytry)
âSeriouslyâ¦â¦â¦â¦ It canât be helped, letâs go to the Onsen?and then letâs go home.â (Cry)
Even though we took multiple days to get here while avoiding troubles, lightning strikes and Arnold⦠Reality was so cruel.
I shrugged my shoulders and stood up to talk to the coachmen, Black and his friends.
TL notes:
Thanks for reading!
Argh that chapter was hard to translate, sorry if some part wasnât really smooth and understandable.
Iâm sure Cryâs job class is Jester (Bluffer). A legendary class that can bend fate so you can have plot armor XD
And Cry just left as soon as he confirmed that Luke and the others arenât at the Treasure Shrine. You can bet that Arnold and the other will think that they went inside XD
Tchao à plus!
Footnotes
Healer (Writer): I donât know why it is translated as Writer and not Healer. Well in fact it is either Writer or Lighter but either of them is weird to me. So, if anyone knows, write it in the comment please.Onsen: It means hot spring.
