8 Months Later.
Ivy's POV
I woke up from a deep slumber. Keeping my eyes closed as I tried to boot. I stirred a little trying to open my eyes. The light blinding me as I opened them.
My brows creased once I realized what day it was. What made me sad was that Dave's side of the bed was empty with no trace of him.
Today is suppose to be special. I've thought about this day for so long and dreamt of waking up to him smiling down at me.
Looks like it'll just have to be like every other random day at the office.
I sighed and sat up, swinging my legs to the cold floor. I got up and made my way to the bathroom.
I did my usual morning rituals and less than an hour later I was set. I went downstairs and made a cup of coffee to go. Hand bag and coffee mug in hand, I left the house.
"Morning Mrs C...Ivy" I turned to find Phil standing in front of the car
I smiled.
He's still trying to adjust to calling me by my name since I fought Dave about making him call me so formally when he's old enough to be my dad.
"Morning Phil" I greeted "I thought you already left with Dave"
"Sir would never leave you stranded" he smiled
I smiled too
"I guess so"
"To work?" He asked opening the back door for me
"As usual Phil" I said getting into the car "Thank you" I said before be shut the door.
Minutes later, I walked out of the elevator and stepped into my floor. I walked past the conference rooms and arrived at Claire's desk.
"Morning Claire" I smiled at her
She stopped what she was doing and looked at me
"Someone's looking more radiant this morning"
I blushed.
"You could say that" I said "Any appointments today?"
She scanned her book
"Hmm...No, not at all" she said "But you do have a load of documents on your desk"
I sighed
"Lemme drop this coffee for Dave before I head into my office" I said about walking off
"Sir isn't around" she said stopping me
"What?" I was confused as I stared at her "He left soo early I didn't see him this morning"
"He called in this morning" she said "'Said he had an important meeting and I should clear his schedule cause it'll last all day"
I frowned
"What meeting is that?" I asked "He didn't tell me about it"
"He must have" she said, frowning too
"I'll check my phone" I said
She nodded.
I smiled at her before I left to my office, sipping on the coffee that was meant for Dave.
I was settled in my offoce when I checked my phone.
And lo and behold, there was a message from Dave.
Hey beautiful, sorry I had to leave.
I have an important meeting to attend. I'll see you later today.
xoxo.
I frowned when I realized that was all there was in the message.
Looks like he's forgotten.
I sighed and got to work.
It was hard to concentrate but I finally did.
Time passed and I didn't even know until my someone barged into my office.
"What the heck!"
I looked up from the paper work and smiled when I spotted her.
"Hey Lez" I greeted
"'Hey Lez', that's all you're gonna say to me?" She asked as she made her way to the chair in front of me and sat down. "Gosh! This is soo tiring"
"I thought you love being pregnant" I said frowning at the face she made
"I do" she said
Lez is a few weeks away from her due date but we have to be prepared for anything. We as in Luke, Dave and I. She could pop anytime soon.
I sighed.
"What are you doing here?" I asked her as I went back to work
"Do I have a reason to be here?" She asked
I looked up with a raised brow.
"Okay, maybe I do" she said, which made me smile "I just needed to step out of that house. Luke's made it more like a cage"
I chuckled.
"Think you can skip your remaining hours?" She asked
I looked up at her
"Why?"
"I want to hang out with you" she said with her puppy dog face
I smiled
"How could I ever say no to that face" I said
Lately she's been stressed about the baby. This is the first time in months she's asked for soemthing like this. She's always either at home, resting - doctor's orders. Or she's at another appointment. It's not been easy for her. So I'm thrilled at the idea of hanging out with her.
She smiled at me
"Really?"
"Of course" I said putting the paper's away "Just lets go before I change my mind"
She grinned as we got up
"Lets go partying" she said as we made out way out of the office
"Don't push it" I said
"T'was worth a shot" she said
"I'm going out with Lez" I told Claire when we reached her office
"Oh" she said
"Hi Claire" Lez greeted
"Hey" Claire said "How's the pregnancy going?"
"Tiring, Stressful, Pain in my back...literally, Hard..."
"She's got it Lez" I stopped her
"Oh, sorry" she smiled
"It's alright" Claire said
"Just in case Dave gets back here, tell him I'm with Lez" I told Claire
"Alright" she said "Have fun you two" she waved us away
Lez and I made our way down the elevator and out of the building.
"Where to Ivy?" Phil asked
"Uhh..." I looked at Lez
"To the mall, Phil" she smiled at him as she got in
Phil looked at me.
I smiled and shrugged.
Ten minutes and Lez and I stepped into the mall. She pulled me into a boutique.
"What are we doing here Lez?" I asked
"Shopping, duh" she said going through the racks
"I thought pregnant women don't shop" I said
She glared at me and I surrendered.
"Can I help you ladies with anything?" A woman came to us
"I'm looking for a red dress. Something elegant and sexy" Lez said
"Uh, we have something of that prescription but its in baby pink" she said
"Oh, okay then, we'll try somewhere else" Lez said pulling me along
"Thank you" I called before I was pulled out of the boutique and dragged into another one with Lez demanding the same red dress which they didn't have also. Then she pulled me into another boutique.
Then another, and another and it kept going like that till...
"What size do you need?" The sales woman asked
"You have a dress like that?" Lez asked
"Yes we do ma'am. What size?" She asked again
"A size three, two and a half" Lez said
"I'll be right back" the lady said and left
"How would you fit into that?"I asked her
She looked at me like I was stupid
"It's for you dummy" she said
"What?!" I was confused "Why would you get a dress for me?"
"I'm doing it cause I can't play dress up now. I need you to do it for me"
"Then why did you bring me here if you can't 'play dress up'?"
"Cause I miss trying out clothes. All I wear now is maternity clothes" she said sadly
Of course she'd miss them. She's a model, clothes are her thing.
I sighed
"Just this once I'm gonna be your...mannequin"
She squealed and clapped her hands, throwing them around me
"Thank you"
I smiled a her.
At least she's happy.
"Here you go ma'am" the woman came back with multiple red gowns to choose from.
"Hu-wee!" Lez said as she checked the gowns. Putting some away and giving some to me. "Go try those" she said after checking them all.
"All these" I said looking at the clothes in my arm
"Yes, hurry" she said pushing me into the changing room.
I sighed and got to work.
First one was too exposed. She thought it was sexy. Second one was too much lace for me.
"Come out" she said as I put on the third dress
"I'm coming" I said, zipping up the dress. I stepped out and stood in front of her "So...?"
"That's the one" she said staring at me
I looked at the mirror
"You think?" I asked
"Definitely" she said smiling
It felt so perfect. Even looked just right.
I smiled
"I like it" I said
"Yes!" She exclaimed "We'll take this" she told the woman
We finally left the boutique.
"Where to now?" I asked her
"Shoe shopping" she said pulling me once again into a store
Thank God we got the shoes she was looking for. A white strappy stilleto.
"Now where?" I asked
"Spa" she said
"What!?" I said
Of course she pulled me along and before I knew it, I was totally relaxed.
"That was amazing" I said an hour later
"I know right" she said "Are you ready now?"
"For what?" I asked
"Lets go" she said
We stepped out of the changing room into the spa's entrance that now had chairs and equipment and...people that weren't there before.
"Who are they?" I asked
She smiled.
"Lezzie!" Someone called in a...French accent? Or is it Mexican? "It is soo good to see you"
"Hello Antonio" she said blowing kisses on the side of his cheeks "It's good to see you too"
"Who do we have here?" He looked at me
"I'm Ivy" I said stretching my hand for a shake
"Ah!" He seemed surprised "You're a beauty" he kissed my knuckles
I smiled
"Thank you"
"Lets get to work!" He yelled at everyone and I was pushed on the chair in front of the mirror, then the chair was twirled away from the mirror and before I could utter a word. They all surrounded me, pulling at my hair and wiping off the little make-up I had on my face. "I will make you look soo beautiful, men will fall at your feet"
An hour and a half later I was pushed into the changing room with the red gown and the shoes.
"Go change" Lez said
I have no idea what's going on. Lez is pumping me up.
I was done buckling the shoe. I checked my phone and gasped at the time.
8:30 PM.
WTF!
Dave would be home already. I have to go. He hasn't even called to ask me where I am.
What's happening to him today?
I walked out of the changing room and into the spa's entrance where they all were.
"So...?" I asked standing in a way that showed my leg between the slits.
They all gasped.
"You look amazing Ivy" Lez said coming to hug me.
"It's all your doing" I hugged her back "Now I have to go home. It's late"
She looked shocked
"Oh!" She said "Uh, okay, uh, I got this for you" she gave me a black glittery clutch "To go with the whole outfit"
I smiled at her
"Thanks Lez" I said "Today's been amazing"
She smiled
"It's my pleasure"
"Well, let me get out of these clothes and get rid of the make-up and my hair...my hair's filled with a lot of chemicals" I said
"No!" She and Antonio exclaimed
Antonio came to me
"You will wear my make-up and keep the hair till you get home. I want everyone to see my creation" he smiled
"And you can take the clothes off when you get home" Lez said "It'll just take more time if you get out of the clothes, its getting really late"
"Uhh...okay" I said "Antonio thank you"
"Thank you" he said pulling me "Come see yourself"
I stood in front of the mirror and gasped.
"Sei bellissima." He said "Proprio come una principessa"
"What?" I turn ad to him
"He said you look beautiful. Just like a princess" One of his workers said
I smiled at him
"All thanks to you Antonio" I hugged him "I'd love to see you again"
"Me too" he said
"Get going now" Lez said
"What about you?" I asked her "Let's go"
"Luke's on his way here to pick me up" she said
"I can't leave you alone" I said
"Look he's here" she said
I looked at the door to find Luke gocking...at Me.
He came towards Lez and I.
"Wow Ivy, you look really good" he said
"Thanks" I smiled "I'll see you guys later. I have to go"
"Bye" she said
"Ciao mia bella" Antonio called
"Have fun" Luke said
Have fun?
I thought as I made my way out of the mall to the car.
"Ready Ivy?" Phil was surprised when he saw me but he smiled
"Yes" I said getting into the car
I sighed when I waa seated in the back seat.
That's when I realized I was holding just my phone and the clutch Lez gave me.
Damn.
My clothes, my bag.
I texted Lez.
Hey. I forgot my bag and my clothes.
She replied immediately.
Don't worry. Go home. I'll get them for you.
My brows creased at the message. What's with the home in bold letters.
I tried calling Dave but it kept going to voicemail.
What's happening?
Is he mad at me or what?
He never goes a day without making sure I'm alright. Even at the office, he comes to my office to see me and he calls me when he's at a meeting or he's going somewhere.
Oh Dave.
Did I do something wrong yesterday?
I looked out the window and frowned.
"Phil?"
"Yes Ivy" he answered
"Where are we going?" I asked "This isn't the route to the house"
"I just wanna make a quick stop before I drop you home" he said
"Oh" I said
Phil always made sure he confirmed out location before we left but he didn't today. Now he's taking me somewhere else.
"Sir's orders ma'am" he said looking at me through the rear view mirror
I looked at him
"Oh. So he's spoken to you" I said
"Yes" he said
"Is he alright?" I asked
"Yes" he said
"Is he home?" I asked then thought about it "He should be. He wouldn't ask you to make a quick stop if he was still out"
Phil smiled through the rear view then his eyes went back to the road.
I checked the time.
8:45 PM.
Ten fifteen minutes later, Phil pulled up in the middle of nowhere.
It looked like an abandoned place.
I was shocked when he opened my door.
"Ivy" he said
I stepped out.
"What's wrong?" I asked him.
He smiled before he pointed at right.
I looked and became breathless.
What's going on?
It was a candlelit path.
My phone vibrates and I checked to see a message. It was from Lez.
He's not gonna kill you. Have fun. ð
What?!
"What's going on Phil?" I asked him
"You'll find out" he said "Just follow the path"
I sighed, proceeding the path.
It started out with trees on either side of the path and candle lit on either side. I kept walking till I reached a less scary place, less trees and more grass but with bulbs instead of candles on either side of the path.
An arch way in front decorated with flowers. It was beginning to look more like a garden or a park.
I kept walking till I saw what was up ahead and stopped.
My heart started pounding.
It was beautiful.
It looked like a cabin without walls or demarcation.
A few stairs and a single table with two chairs on either side and what looked like candles were scattered everywhere on the wood.
I drew nearer to it and when I stepped on the hardwood, I realized what I thought were candles, were actually in built light.
I swallowed and kept walking reaching the stairs that led to the table. I walked down and finally arrived in front of the table. I noticed the love shaped boundary that was around the table.
I stepped into it and picked up the bouquet of roses on the table. Taking in the scent I shivered when I had that familiar feeling.
I smiled.
I wasn't shocked when I felt his touch on my arms, pulling me into him. I rested my head in his shoulder.
"Do you like it?" He asked
I blushed, nodding my head
"I love it" I pulled back and turned around to face him, hugging him "I missed you today"
"Me too honey" he said "It was torture staying away from you and not calling you"
"Then why did you do it?" I asked
"So you wouldn't suspect any of this" he said "I wanted it to be a surprise"
"Well I'm beyond surprised" I smiled
His eyes roamed my body.
"Dayum. Lez wants to kill me"
"What?" I asked
"You look soo fucking sexy I don't think I'd last the night" he said "You look absolutely beautiful"
I grinned at him
"You look dashing" I pulled his collar to me wanting to kiss him
"Don't" he said, stopping me.
I pulled back surprised
"If you do, the night wouldn't go as planned and we'd skip all of this and head home" he explained
"Oh" I said "Well, let's get this night started then"
He smiled
"Lets"
He pulled out a chair for me before he went to sit on the one opposite mine.
Dinner was served and we ate to our satisfaction. Dessert was my favourite.
"That was soo good" I said smiling
He smiled back
"You have a little something here" he said pointing to the corner of his mouth
"Oh" I wiped it away
He chuckled. Reaching over he used his thumb to wipe away whatever remnant of the dessert was left on my lip. He pulled back, licking his thumb and smirking at me
"Tastes better than the dessert we just had" he said
"It is the dessert we just had" I said rolling my eyes
"I know. But it just seems to taste better from your lips" he said, making me blush
His eyes were piercing into mine so I looked away.
"Dave you're making it hard for me not to reach over and kiss you" I said, breathing out slowly
Silence.
I looked up at him to find him staring at me
"Believe me, I want to do more than kiss you" he said which quickened my heart rate
I swallowed
"Can we go home then?" I asked
"Of course" he got up "But I have to do something first"
"What?" I looked up at him as he made his way to where I sat.
He smiled at me as he took my hands in his.
"I've thought of how I was gonna do this. But it didn't play out to what I imagined. This is soo much more"
"What are you talking about, Dave?" I asked
"This" he knelt down and I thought I was gonna pass out on the seat
"Wh-what are you doing?" I asked
"Shh" he said "I didn't get to do it right the first time. I swore I was gonna do it the right way once you told me how much you loved me. The right time never came along. I wanted this to be special" he said
My eyes watered.
"Ivy, you are my whole life. There's nothing I can do without you by my side. I can't even begin to imagine what my life would be without you. You are the centre of my universe and I'm proud to call you mine" he said removing something from his back pocket "So, Ivy Marie Thompson, would you do me the honour of marrying me for the second time. Would you willingly marry me?"
Tears fell on my cheeks
"I'm disappointed you had to ask" I said
He smiled
"Yes then?"
"Hell yea!" I said, grinning
He took the ring from the box and slipped it through my finger
"You'll have to take those ones off later" he said
He put his hands on my waist, carrying me up as he got up and twirled me around as he kissed me.
"I love you soo much" he said, placing me on the ground
"I love you too" I said chuckling "Were you serious about getting married the second time?"
He nodded.
"I want everything to be right" he said
I grinned before I drew my attention to the ring
"It's beauti..." I stared in shock
"What's wrong?" He asked
"Dave, the ring" I said, breathless "It's..."
He tucked his fingers under my chin and raised my face to his
"It's the one you loved" he said
"How did you know?" I asked tearfully
"I saw the way your eyes lit up as you stared at it" he said
The ring he gave me is the same ring I couldn't keep my eyes off when we went ring shopping. Now its mine.
"I love you soo much" I said hugging him
"Happy first year anniversary baby" he kissed the top of my head
I pulled back and looked at him
"I'm sorry I didn't plan anything for you" I said
"You're all I need" he said
I smiled
"Do you hate noise?" I asked out of nowhere
"Uh. No, not really" he said doubt fully
"And crying?" I asked
"Maybe" he said not sure
"What about little ones running around the house?" I asked
A smile began to grow on his face and it turned to a full on grin.
"Do you have something to tell me?"
"Well, you're gonna be a dad" I said, smiling
He picked me up and twirled me again.
"Ivy, that's the best thing you can give me" he said after placing me on the ground "You've made me the happiest man ever"
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you on time. I was waiting for today" I said
"How long have you known?" He asked
"Less than a week" I said "I'm sorry"
"It's okay" he said "How far along are you?"
"Five weeks" I said
He smiled
"I'm so happy" he said
"Happy Anniversary" I said
We both sighed in contentment.
7+ Months Later
"Ahh...!" I screamed "You aren't coming anywhere near me Dave!"
"One last push" the doctor said
"Argggg!" I gave it my all and the crying started
"You did it my love" Dave said kissing my sweaty forehead.
"It's a boy"

I'm sad to say goodbye to Ivy and Dave but everything has to come an end.
