Chapter Twenty-One

🦎 Party Guessed 🦎

Derek crouched down and opened a chest full of chains and Isaac looked at the symbol on the inside of the lid. "What is that?" He asked and before Derek or Amara could answer, Boyd spoke up, "It's a triskele. The spirals mean different things. Past, present future; mother, father, child." Boyd explained and Amara smiled at him from where she stood in the doorway of the subway with Erica.

"Do you know what it means for out family?" Amara asked and he shrugged slightly, "Alpha, Beta, Omega?" He asked and Amara and Derek looked at each other impressed. "That's right. It's a spiral- it reminds us that we can all rise to one or fall to another. Betas can become Alphas, but Alphas can also fall to Betas, or even Omegas." Derek explained.

"Like Scott?" Isaac asked and Derek sighed, "Scott's with us now." He said and he raised his eyebrows. "Really? Then where is he now?" He asked as he glanced around slightly, "He's looking for Jackson. Don't worry, he's not gonna have it easy tonight, either. None of us will. There's a price you pay for this kind of power. You get the ability to heal, but tonight, you're gonna want to kill anything you can find." Derek said as he dug around the chest.

"Good thing I had my period last week, then." Erica said making Amara laugh, "Tell me about it." She said. "Well, this one's for you." He said as he held up a metal headband with screws in it and Amara hummed and nodded. "Oh, that ones fun. Stopped me from running anywhere." She said before stepping down from the train, "Well, I have to go get ready for a party." She said making them look at her.

"What? Are you not gonna be here tonight?" Isaac asked and Amara shook her head, "No, but my mom might be. Today's Lydia's birthday and shes having a party." She said and Derek raised his eyebrows at her. "A party is more important that three werewolves on a full moon?" He asked and she nodded.

"When you've promised Lydia Martin that you'll she there, it is."

🦎

"Uh, Jackson's not here." Allison said as she awkwardly walked up to Scott and Stiles, "Yeah, no one's here." Stiles said and Scott shrugged slightly. "Maybe it's just early?" Scott suggested, "Or maybe, nobody's coming because Lydia's turned into the town crazy lady." Amara said as she walked up to them, awkwardly glancing at Allison.

"Well, we have to do something, because we've completely ignored her for the past two weeks." Allison said and Scott shrugged. "She's completely ignored us for the past ten years." He said and Amara raised her eyebrows, "We were never on her radar back then." She said and Scott shrugged slightly.

"We don't owe her a party." Scott said and Allison raised her eyebrows, "What about the chance to get back to normal?" She asked making Scott look at her. "Normal?" He asked and Amara shrugged slightly, "I agree with Allison. Lydia wouldn't be the town crazy lady if it wasn't for us." Amara said and Scott sighed softly.

"I guess I could use my co-captain status to get the lacrosse team here." Scott said and Stiles nodded, Yeah, I also know some people who can get this thing going. Like, really going." He said and Allison raised her eyebrows.

"Who?" She asked and Stiles shrugged slightly, "I met them the other night... Let's just say, they know how to party."

A while later the party was full of people from school and drag queens. The only ones not having fun appear to be Amara, Scott, Stiles and a distant Allison who can't help glancing at them from across the pool. Eyes on the rising moon, Scott takes a deep, meditative breath while Stiles sips from a cup of Lydia's punch and Amara glanced at Allison.

"Are you gonna apologize to Allison or what?" Scott asked making Amara look at him confused, "What?" She asked. "Are you gonna apologize to Allison? You said you kinda blew up on here at rave." Stiles said and Amara sighed as she glanced at Allison.

"I want to but I can bearly look at her for more then five seconds without flashing back to her mom trying to kill me." Amara said and Scott shrugged slightly, "So tell her what her mom did." He said and Amara sighed. "I can't." She said and they furrowed their brows, "Why not?" Stiles asked and Amara shook her head slightly.

"Because Derek bit Victoria when they were fighting." Amara said making their eyes widen, "The Argents have a rule that if they get bit, they kill themselves. My last memories of my dad before he died where him trying to kill us... I can't let Allison's last memory of her mom be of her trying to kill me." She said before groaning slightly and shaking her head.

"Why do you guy's even care, anyway?" She asked and Stiles sighed, "Because, Amara, something's gotta go right, here! I mean, we're getting our asses royally kicked, if you haven't noticed. People are dying, I got my dad fired, Scott's gonna be held back in school, and if, on top of that, I gotta watch you lose Allison to a stalker like Matt, I'm gonna stab myself in the face!" Stiles said and Scott glanced behind Stiles before his eyes widened.

"Don't stab yourself in the face." He said and Stiles furrowed his brows, "Why not?" He asked. "Because Jackson's here." Scott said making Stiles and Amara look back  to the main house to see Jackson calmly entering the party alone, eyeing the crowd with a look of pure malevolence. A tray of drinks rises toward him. He peers from it to a smiling Lydia, who seems oddly back to her old, confident self, "Glad you could make it."

Watching from across the pool, Scott, Stiles and Amara hold still, waiting for the worst. But Jackson simply plucks one of the drinks from the tray and takes a sip.

Amara walked around the house until she heard Lydia calling out her name making her stop and turn around. "Hey, can you come to the store with me to get more ice?" Lydia asked making Amara raise her eyebrows. "I can just go get some myself, you shouldn't leave your party." Amara said and Lydia shook her head.

"No, it's okay. I was hoping this could be some quality friend time. We haven't be able to have that in a while." She said and Amara looked at her weird for a second before nodding, "Yeah okay, sure. Let's go." She said and started walking to the front door. Not seeing Lydia's sinister smirk.

They got into Lydia's car and Amara went to ask Lydia something but Lydia held her hand up and blew some purple and white powder in Amara face making her cough. Pretty quickly Amara started feeling dizzy making her look at Lydia shocked, "What the hell?" Amara whispered as her eyes started to flutter a bit before closing and she fell back in her seat.

🦎

Amara started to wake up with a groan to see she was in the Hale house. She groggily looked around to see her arm was hanging down in a hole in the floor, the hole they had buried her father in making her eyes widen.

Her head shot up when she heard noise to see Lydia dragging in groggy Derek, "Lydia?" Amara asked, still feeling the effect from the mistletoe and wolfsbane. It was then when Amara connected the dots and realized what Lydia was doing as she threw Derek's arm into the hole as well. Looking around Amara sees a hole in the charred remains of the roof, positioned around this hole are shards of a mirror.

Several different shards lie attached to the walls, strategically placed. Vines of wolfsbane have grown around the mirrors, snaking down the wall and toward the floor. All if these conformed Amara suspicion making her look at Lydia. "Lydia. Stop, you don't know what you're doing." Amara said as she tried to get up was still weak from the mistletoe and wolfsbane.

Glancing up, Amara sees the full moon through the roof's opening, slowly but inexorably moving into position while Lydia struggles to push Derek's arm further into the ground.

"Lydia, stop." Amara said but Derek's limp hand slides into Peter's open palm making Lydia instantly move over to do the same to Amara right as the light of the full moon strikes the first mirror. It bounces to the next and the next, filling the dark room with a momentary but brilliant glow.

The purple flowers along the wolfsbane vine flutter in the wind as if a kind of magic had taken over the room. The moonlight falls over Derek's and Amara's bodies, bouncing down into the open hole of the floor.

Suddenly Peter's hands wraps around Derek's and Amara's arms claws sinking into his daughter and nephews skin. Derek opens his mouth to scream, eyes burning a bright red as he roars in pain. Amara cries out in pain as she states up at the moon with golden yellow-firey red eyes.

Beneath the floorboards, Peter's eyes snap open, a sickly yellow glow simmering around the death black irises. Hands smash through the floorboards, cracking and splintering in an explosion of dust and black dirt as Peter Hale burst out of his shallow grave.

Derek weakly crawls over to his cousin, pulling her into him. Behind them Lydia gazes on with a mixture of fear and awe. Caked in black dirt and debris, Peter slowly rises up to stand in front of them, the burns gone as slowly focuses on his daughter, Derek and Lydia.

"I heard there was a party. Don't worry... I invited myself."
