Chapter 15: An Idiot Can't Seem to Shut Up

The Blind Girl's SecretWords: 7118

Holy shiz! I did not realize over a week has passed. Sorry for the very late update, this month is just so damn crazy. It don't freaken feel like summer😒 anywho, ENJOY! 😊

Ava POV

I walked into class and walked straight to my desk. I can feel someone staring at me, "Is there something on my face, Ryder?"

He chuckled, "No, you are just so beautiful, I had to stare."

I shook my head, smiling. "It's too early to deal with your idiocy, so please stop now."

He gasped, "I just complimented you and in return you insult me?  Wow. Thanks, A."

I laughed and slapped him on the arm.

"Ow! What the hell was that for?" He grumbled.

I shrugged, "It's my way of giving you a compliment. You should be happy, I don't do that to many people."

"Oh I'm sorry!" He said sarcastically. "I didn't know being slapped makes me special to you."

I grinned, "Well, now you know."

I think he rolled his eyes at me but what do I know. I'm blind.

The day dragged by, I swear it felt like five years has passed when really it was just a few minutes. I know it's a major exaggeration but my gawd, it was now 10 minutes into my last class and I already want to fall asleep. I have asked this a million times and I still haven't heard a reasonable answer. What idiot thought that being stuck in school, also known as hell, for nearly 7 hours is good for the minds of the people?

I sighed in frustration and banged my head against the table.

"Am I boring you, Ms. Winters?"

I picked up my head towards the teacher's voice, "No sir, listening about formulas that I will never use at all in my life is absolute fun. Please continue."

Chuckles and giggles filled the classroom, even the teacher couldn't help but laugh. "Well, you never know. You might become a scientist or a chemist one day."

I snorted, "Yeah, you're totally right, sir. People would totally hire a blind person to handle extremely hazardous chemicals that could possibly kill not just myself but everyone else within close range."

The teacher sighed, exasperated, "Ms. Winters, just pay attention. It's just Pre-calculus."

If I wasn't using my ray bans, I'm pretty sure he would've seen me roll my eyes. Right, just pre-calculus. How do we even become a chemist by learning this stupid subject? It's honestly not that hard, it's just so damn boring.

By the time class ended, I jumped out of my seat to get out of the class when a hand clamped onto my shoulder. I was about to grab onto the hand when a voice caught my attention.

"You look like you're about to be chased by hell hounds," Ryder said amused.

"Well, can you blame me? I swear I wanted to bang my head against the table to knock myself out."

He walked me out the classroom as he chuckled, "It's not that bad."

"Ha, right, I've never hated a subject as much as I hate that one. I don't even know why I'm sticking to that stupid class," I scowled.

"Suck it up, princess," he ruffled my hair and I smacked his hand away.

"So where are you heading to?"

"I'm heading to the library. I'm just going to wait for my ride."

"Why don't I give you a ride since I don't got anything else to do?"

I thought about it for a moment, then shrugged, "Okay."

As he led me to his car, I called my uncle, letting him know that I got a ride to the library. He was against it at first but in the end, he relented.

On the ride to the library, I couldn't stop thinking about Ramiro and what he said about my parents. What did my parents do to make him kill them? Did they betray him in any way? Or is he just messing with me to get in my head? I feel like I'm missing something, like the answer is just within my reach. I hate feeling confused and not being able to control a situation.

I was so deep in my thoughts, I didn't notice Ryder was calling my name.

"Ava!"

I slightly jumped, turning towards him, "Yeah?"

"You okay? I've been trying to get your attention for the past five minutes," he said, sounding worried.

I smiled, "yeah, sorry. I guess I'm just tired."

"Okay," he said, unconvinced, "Well, we're here at your destination."

I thanked him and got out. I started walking towards the entrance when I heard him fall into step beside me. I turned to him with a confused look, "Where are you going?"

"Library."

"Why?"

"Because I want to."

"Why?"

"Because I want to."

This guy is seriously going to get a punch in the face soon.

"But why? Since when do you go to the library?"

"What's that supposed to mean?" He said, offended.

I shrugged, "You don't sound like the type to voluntarily read unless it's for school work. Last I checked, we both have two classes together and none of those classes give you a reason to visit the library."

"What if I secretly love reading?"

"Uh huh, what do you prefer reading then?"

"Well, I... it really depends-- just get in the damn library!" He said, annoyed.

I bit my lip to smother my smile, going through the entrance.

I continued on towards the back and found the table I usually sit at. This area is always empty, I don't know why but from what I heard, it's dark and creepy, which is weird because it's a library. Why would one part of the library be dark?

"Whoa, you sit here?"

I tilted my head towards the sound of his voice. "Yeah, why?"

"It's just so... Creepy. These books look so ancient, like no one has touched them for years."

I guess it is creepy...

"Really? Describe the area to me."

"There is barely light here, I think the lights burned out around this area but I guess they didn't bother changing it since no one even comes here. The shelves are dusty and the books look so old and worn out."

I nodded at his description and shrugged, "Sounds like a perfect place for me."

He chuckled and sat on a chair next to me, "Of course it is. So what you going to do?"

"I am going to do some research so don't bother me. I need to concentrate."

"No worries, I'll just entertain myself."

Fifteen minutes later, I felt like beating him to a pulp. I haven't started on my research yet since an idiot wouldn't keep his mouth shut and his hands to himself.

Poke.

Poke.

I took a deep breath, ignoring him as he continued poking me.

"Do you think there is a bigger mountain than Mount Everest? I mean, seriously, how would they know that's the biggest mountain here? Do they have a gigantic ruler that they used to measure every mountain they see? They must've had a boring life if they had to waste their time measuring a damn mountain that most people wouldn't give a damn abo-"

I grabbed his finger and twisted it, cutting off his annoying chatter as he cried out in pain. "For the love of god, would you please shut up!" I seethed, freeing his finger from my grasp.

He was quiet for a moment and I inwardly sigh in relief.

"But seriously though," I bang my head against the table when he talks once again, "do you think there is a possibility of another mountain being bigger than Mount Everest?"

"I don't know, Ryder and I honestly don't care." I got up and gathered my things.

"Wow, you're done already? You're fast."

I grunt in annoyance, walking around him, heading straight to the entrance. I swear one day I am going to superglue his mouth shut and then tape it for safe measure.
