Chapter 20: Ch 20: Sarian Goddess Biian

We were at a stalemate. I had provoked that bitch enough to make her attacks be bearable. The occasional [Slow] helped a lot. Boshi could turn all of my ice attacks into Pagos. But this bitch disengaged whenever I used [Tsunami]. It was annoying but I would use [Tsunami] whenever we needed breathing room. Boshi needed more and more breathing room. I don’t know what is going on but it looks like he is slowly freezing over. It doesn’t seem like he took any damage from any light attacks but it did cause him to freeze over.

“Ugh, I wish Alep was here…”

“Who is Alep?”

“A dear spirit fox friend of mine. He died a long time ago, by her hands…”

“I’m sorry for your loss.” I used [Fog] but it didn’t seem to help. I had [Ice Mirrors] everywhere and Boshi turned them into [Pagos Mirrors].

She sent out clones made out of light and I used [Mistflower Field] to get rid of them. The real bitch continued floating outside of the range of my [Mistflower Field].

“I should have learned how to manipulate gravity with my spatiotemporal affinity…”

“Oh, you have a spatiotemporal affinity? Can you get me close to her?” I nodded.

I threw [Azure Petals] and [Ice Beams] at her to distract her and warped Boshi behind her. She reacted but was too late.

“Imposs…” Boshi punched her to the floor. I used [Tsunami] and instantly used [Azure Chain].

“These cursed chains again!” Boshi bumped his fists together and the whole area froze over as his gloves which had turned into gauntlets started giving off a bright and beautiful blue light. All the Pagos moved to his right arm and covered his whole arm. He dashed at Biian and gave her an uppercut.

Biian disappeared. Actually, that’s incorrect, she got launched into the air faster than my eye could follow.

“More warps please!” I located the bitch and warped him behind her. Another heavy punch that sent her flying almost too fast for me to follow. I kept warping him so that he could continue punching her. He eventually punched her downward and she created a crater in the ground.

Boshi was panting heavily.

“That should at least hurt her a it.

“Aaagh! My beautiful face! How dare you!” A light explosion and I casted [Slow] on her and countered the slow wave of light with a [Tsunami], Another [Azure Chain] and a [Mistflower Field] which Boshi turned into Pagos.

“Hey, Ayaru. Here is a move that had been passed down from Alep to me. You could say it was one of his family's special moves.”

“Is it ok to teach me that?”

“Oh, it’s nothing like a secret or ultimate move, but every member of his family somehow comes up with this skill. You use [Frozen Ground], slip up your opponent, and freeze their pants to the floor.”

Boshi used [Frozen Ground]. Biian was thrashing around attempting to break the chains so she slipped and fell. Biian wasn’t wearing pants but Boshi froze her coat to the floor.’

“I hate this skill!” Boshi pointed at the bitch.

“See? It pisses her off for no reason.” I committed this to memory and used [Azure mist].

“Noo! I hate this skill too!” The screams of agony started again. Boshi sat down on the floor and rested. Half his body seemed to have frozen over.

“That is a very brutal skill you have there.” I had to stay far away from him because my mana was getting sapped when I would get close.

“Yeah, it seems it is very effective against gods. I don’t know how well it work against gods that aren’t as stupid as she is.”

“She is prideful and arrogant, even if there was no threat of other gods interfering with her, she would hold back since she doesn’t believe that we are deserving of her full power.”

I heard a large explosion in the distance. A mountain sank. A light dragon was shooting [Lasers] at the [Shadow Cranes] flying around it. It hit the ground occasionally which caused explosions.

“Are your friends going to be alright? They are fighting a light dragon.”

I pointed at the speed the dragon’s light attacks flew. “That dragon is quite slow; they will be fine.”

At that moment a large shadow tendril rose up, grabbed the dragon by its neck, and dragged it to the ground. The attacks and noise stopped.

“Did they win?”

I smiled. “Paula is no pushover. Paul is strong too, the moment that dragon hits the floor it’s done for.”

A beam of light shot up to the sky and the screams had stopped.

“I guess she finally broke through the [Azure chains]. So, it can bind her for 13 minutes. That’s good to know.”

Boshi got up. “She will be back. Let’s make it a bit harder for her to find us.

“Are you ok? Half your body is frozen, you’re not going to die right?”

Boshi gave me a warm smile. “Thank you for worrying but I’m a spirit. I don’t die. I will either get sent back to my power spot or when mortals would ‘Die’ we will get sent back to the spirit world. Either way, I will be fine, it’s you who we should worry about.”

Here it is again, someone who cares for me even though there is no need. I had hardly taken any damage because that bitch was focused on Boshi.

“Unfortunately, that wasn’t that bitch’s full power. I am thankful that your friends took the dragon but she has another secret wea…”

A beam of light blew through Boshi’s torso.

“Hii! I’m back! I will deal with that bitch Bellia when the time comes, you two need to be eradicated.” The bitch was back, she did look beat up and was still bleeding but she was holding a strange round object that had rings spinning around it.

I saw how ice crystals grew out of Boshi’s torso and pieced back the parts of his body that were missing. The ice shattered and he was back to normal.

“Ugh, this is what I was afraid of. Let’s run.”

“Not so fast Pagos spirit! I have had my fill of your antics. It is time to wipe out your power spot.” Boshi turned pale. The bitch smiled. “I hope you like the spirit world.”

She turned around and started to charge her [Biian’s Excellence] I used [Slow] on her. It did connect but its duration instantly expired.

“It’s no use Ayaru, that item is a Dimsha, an object that can interfere with reality, its ability is that it can turn back time or make durations expire immediately. I’m afraid that your 13 minutes of binding with [Azure Chain] will turn into 0 seconds now…”

“But that’s so unfair! She is a goddess and also has an object that can do that! How is anyone supposed to win against that?!”

“You can’t win against a goddess, now behold! [Biian’s Excellence]!” She unleashed an enormous mass of bright light at a mountain. I had expected her to kill us but she had something else in mind.

“Ah! There it is!” I saw a familiar sight after the light cleared. I saw a pink tree in a now destroyed underground. “Why isn’t it destroyed though? Ah it doesn’t matter.”

Boshi took off and went for a punch but the object glowed and he returned to his starting position.

“Just stay back and watch how I destroy everything you care about.” We tried everything but we either got met by light clones, [Light Barriers] or got rewound to back where we started.

She bombarded the tree. The light beams pierced through the ground.

“Stop it! They have nothing to do with it! Your problem is with me!” Biian turned around and had a look of disgust.

“I can’t have other spirits get the same idea as you, it’s best to send them all back to the spirit world.” She continued to destroy the area.

“I see… Ayaru. I want you to listen careful. Try to remember this for as long as possible. I am going to do something reckless and stop this bitch. I want you to seize this moment to get your friends and try to run. If running isn’t possible hold out until another god arrives. At this point the other gods must have noticed it’s just a matter of time before they will jump in."

“What about you?”

“That is why I want you to remember this very well. The thing is. When spirits ‘Die’ and get sent to the spirit world we get forgotten. Gods, spirits, elves, tailed beasts, dragons, and denizens from the underworld are immune to this effect. You as a Misha, however, will forget I ever existed. The memory might still stick for a while.” The temperature around Boshi started to drop. “That tree is the power spot of me and the other spirits that live here. I will be running on a time limit the moment she destroys it. I will attempt to prevent this. I might get sent back to the spirit world but the other spirits will still be able to live on here. After I use my skill, I want you to go to the tree and use its energy to power up to either stall for time or run away.”

I tried to come close to Boshi and grab him but he made an [Ice wall] to keep me away.

“Why? Why can’t you do this without sacrificing yourself?”

“A goddess has set sights on ‘killing’ me, there is no way I get out of this alive, all I can do is ‘Die’ on my own terms. Ayaru please… the spirits don’t deserve this…” I looked at how Biian continued her relentless assault. I nodded but I hated the idea.

“Thank you, I will get sent back to the spirit world after I use [Aonio Pagos]. It will temporarily stop all Biian’s magical and divine processes. You will be unaffected.”

A wave of Pagos spread out and froze the entire plateau. Biian froze solid temporarily and all magical processes had halted just as Boshi had said. I looked back and I started to tear up as I saw how even his body had frozen solid and he started to crumble. My memory started to become foggy.

“Noo! I don’t want to forget about him yet!" I took my hat off my head, bit my finger and wrote ‘Boshi’ on my hat in blood. I kept repeating his name to counter the fogginess in my memory. I reached the tree and touched it.

Immense power flowed into me. I was unfamiliar with this energy but it was similar to the energy Billy? Borry? I took my hat off my head and read the words written in blood. Boshi. The energy was similar to Boshi. I put my hat back on. I felt terrible. I couldn’t even remember the name of the strange man I had come to respect and who had saved my life and had even sacrificed himself. I had already released the mana in my hat but it feels like I could still do more. I did so.

The bitch thawed from the Pagos and the first thing I did was clench my fist and give her a very satisfying punch. It sent her flying but she sent attacks after me. I swatted them away with my hat. All my attempts on using [Slow] got nullified. I took my staff out of my bag, hopped on it and flew at her. She tried to reverse time on me but I only got sent back a bit.

“What is this nonsense?!" I augmented my hat with water magic and the strange energy I got from the tree and smacked the bitch with it.

An ugly scream erupted from her face. I had scored a direct hit on her face and I seemed to have broken the bones that made up her facial structures.

“Aaagh! My face! How dare you go for the face!” Light gathered on her face and it healed.

“You! Where did you get that spirit energy from?!”

“Spirit energy?”

She looked at the tree.

“I see, that rat’s final trick, eh?” My head hurt. I was supposed to know who she was referring to but I couldn’t remember. All I knew was that I was supposed to protect the broccoli like tree. She blocked another attempt of a hat smack and kicked me to the floor.

That should’ve hurt but I just dusted myself off. [Azure Aura] had been one of the best ideas I’ve created. It seems that if I mix the energy this broccoli tree gave me with my attacks it hurts her more. I mixed the broccoli energy into my [Tsunami]. Her item glowed and my attack disappeared. I did get the mana and energy refunded. It seems that its weakness is that I can’t run out of mana as long as she keeps reversing my attacks.
