âClarence!â
Miranda hung up the call, ready to leave. âLetâs go to the hospital, my mom just had an accident.â
?
Clarence hurriedly said to Johnson, âHang in there for a bit, Johnson. Iâll go visit my mother first and weâll see how it goes.â
Johnson heard through the phone that Clarenceâs mother-in-law had gotten into an accident.
âMaster Howard, you have to be quick!
âThey donât have the time to deal with me yet, so Iâm calling you from the toilet right now.
âOnce they finish discussing everything, theyâll need to find a scapegoat, so Iâll be in big trouble then.
âBy the way, Master Howard, weâve crippled your wifeâs ex-boyfriend.
âFrom today onward, heâll be one part less a man,â Johnson quickly mentioned his efforts in getting revenge on Sheldon, as if he was afraid that Clarence would not actually come for him.
Clarence shuddered briefly. âAlright, wait for me.â
After hanging up the call, Clarence and Miranda rushed straight to the hospital.
Inside the ward, Peony was laying on the bed unconscious, with a distraught Armstrong by her side.
Belle, George, Melody, Kaysen, and the others were already there.
âHaha, Mom got into an accident and yet you two took forever to get here,â Belle laughed in a cold and weird tone.
Melody laughed coldly as well, âWe left everything when we heard mom got into an accident.
âKaysen was supposed to work overtime to settle some problems in Sunshine District, but he still sent mom here himself, didnât he?
âAs for you two, you werenât busy doing anything, yet you were still the last to get here.â
Clarenceâs brows furrowed a little.
He had an idea of what was going on.
After Peony got into that car crash, the first ones to know about it were Belle and Melody. Miranda, on the other hand, was completely forgotten.
It was only after Peony was admitted into the hospital did they let Miranda know about this.
However, Melody was now accusing Miranda of not caring about her own mother, and blaming Miranda for her lateness.
Clarence was not happy. âBelle, Melody, this has nothing to do with Miranda, does it?
âYou guys didnât tell us anything about the accident until everything had been settled, so how is it our problem that we arrived after you?â
âShut up, what makes you think you have the right to speak right now?â Belle chided him.
Melody mocked him coldly, âWhatâs the point of telling you, anyway? Do you have any connections in this hospital?
âIf it wasnât for Kaysen communicating with the hospital, do you think that mom would have been transferred to the ICU this fast?
âYouâre acting so snide with your comments. What are you trying to do?â
Miranda tugged at Clarenceâs sleeve and said, âBelle, Melody, we came here as fast as we could.
âWeâre to blame for our tardiness.
âWhat happened? How did mom get into an accident?â
Belle explained everything to Miranda.
Armstrong and Peony were taking their usual walk in the park after having dinner.
Unfortunately, there had been someone speeding on the road.
Armstrong managed to jump out of the way, but Peony suffered a terrible crash. She fell unconscious straight away.
Armstrong called Kaysen immediately and had Peony sent to the hospital.
âDid you catch the culprit?â Miranda frowned.
Kaysen replied in a defeated voice, âWe got him⦠Itâs the third young master of the Wright family.â
âWhich Wright family?â Miranda was stunned.
Melody retorted, âWhich Wright family? Is there another Wright family in the whole of Mediterranean City?â
Miranda shuddered. âDonât tell me itâs the Wright family of the Three Big Families?â
Everyone nodded, not saying a word.
The room suddenly fell into absolute silence!
Clarence broke the silence. âSince we know who the culprit is, and since he was speeding at peak hour, there should have been many witnesses in the park, right?
âThe third young master of the Wright family should bear full responsibility for Momâs accident, then!â
Everyone looked at Clarence like he was a psycho.
Belle laughed coldly, âClarence, I think thereâs something wrong with your brain!
âDo you know what kind of person the Wright familyâs third young master is?
âJust a word from him, and youâll be dead the next second.â
âYouâre seriously trying to hold him accountable?â Melody mocked him.
Clarence tried to explain his reasoning. âSince we all know who the culprit was, and we have witnesses, why shouldnât he be held responsible?â
Kaysen looked at him like he was an idiot. âClarence, you really donât think things through, do you?
âDo you have any idea what kind of power the Wright family holds? You had better believe that youâll be the one going to jail if you dare accuse the third young master of this.â
Crashing into someone else in broad daylight.
Having witnesses at the scene of the crime!
Just because the Wright family had committed the crime, nothing could be done about it?
Clarence was at a loss for words. âAre we just going to let it go?â
âIf you have the guts, why donât you go ahead and try to reason this out with the third young master?â Belle looked at Clarence in disdain.
âThatâs right, why donât you try that! Letâs see if you can defeat the Wright family!â Melody chimed in.
Clarence was furious. âAll of you are so afraid of this?
âItâs your mom whoâs been hurt, not just some stranger!
âAll of you act so high and mighty, but when faced with the reality of this situation, youâre actually afraid?
âWhat great sons and daughters you are!â
Clarenceâs words hit the Murphy familyâs children right where it hurt.
Kaysen then retorted, âYou piece of trash, who gave you the right to insult us like that?!â
âThatâs enough, stop fighting.â
Armstrongâs baritone voice thundered at them. He was frustrated by all of the noise they were making.
Miranda stood beside the bed and asked, âWhy is the doctor not here yet?â
Peony was lying on the bed with her eyes closed, her brow furrowed and tense. She had beads of sweat all over her forehead. Even when unconscious, she was still suffering.
Kaysen regained his composure and replied, âIâve contacted Dr. White, but heâs in a meeting right now.â
âCanât he understand what kind of situation weâre in right now? Why is he still in a meeting when Mom is lying here unconscious?
âIf he doesnât do something soon, who knows what other problems might crop up?
âIâll go get him!â Clarence rushed out of the room.
He had been able to assess Peonyâs condition by looking through her body.
Peonyâs ribs and sternum were fractured, and a few of her organs had sustained impact damage from the crash, causing internal bleeding.
If surgery was not performed immediately, there would undoubtedly be complications. Even worse, they might become fatal if enough time passed!
âMiranda, what is he doing?
âDr. White said that he hates being disturbed while heâs in a meeting!
âIf we offend him and he decides not to treat Mom, what are we supposed to do then?â Belle screamed in horror.
âThat idiot, his stupid idea is going to get us all in trouble. Stop him right now!â Armstrong roared as he rushed out of the room.
The others followed suit behind him.
