Chapter 30

" Are you stalking me? "

Rochelle Quinn's POV:

- Warning: Severe Manic Episode included with psychotic aspects-

"Quinn." I didn't turn around at the voice as I attempted to wrap the tinsel across the stage ceiling. "Quinn, we need to talk about your life choices." I almost jumped up as Kane's voice moved abnormally close to my ear.

I gripped the pipe on the ceiling, turning my head slightly but my feet were still firmly on the ladder. "Shut the fuck up and help me with this stupid tinsel. It wasn't my smart idea to come into school two days after Christmas but here we are." I shook my head, sarcasm leaking obnoxiously from my tone.

"Oh yeah." I continued, attempting to wrap the tinsel all away around the pole. "If I fall of this ladder, Jensen, I'm going to wrap it around your head."

"You won't be able to do that. The janitor's been trying for years so I doubt a schoolgirl will succeed."

I froze as I heard the familiar, irritating voice from behind me. I moved my head slightly, pausing.

Mia Baron.

With her arm attached onto Kenzie's, despite the fact he looked like he'd rather run as far away as possible.

His eyes sent me a silent plea for help and being the kind, thoughtful child I am, I decided to comply.

"I'm sorry, did I forget to introduce myself?" My eyes hardened as they met the girls, "I'm Rocky, Rocky Quinn and haven't you heard? I never fail."

I moved around swiftly, using my grip on the pole to put myself up higher until my feet were barely touching the ladder. The tinsel wrapped around easily once I could reach all the way around it.

I lowered myself onto the ladder again and climbed down, putting my middle finger up at her.

Suck. My. Dick.

"Why do you have to be such a bitch ?" She exclaimed, the words coming out of her mouth before she could think twice. Her eyes widened as she realized what she just said, letting go of Kenzie's arm to back again.

"Everyone has to excel at something, right?" I sent her a tight smile.

"Rocky, we're going to Alberto's. Wanna come?" Keegan shouted from across the room. I laughed when I saw Kade coming up behind him, sprinkling glitter into his hair.

"I think I'll pass, Cinderella." I crossed my arms, shaking my head at him. "Good luck with your hair."

The Jensens left without saying anything else, leaving me alone in the school's gym hall.

I played some game on my phone for about an hour before the boredom finally hit.

"Two mint chocolate chip cones at your service, Miss."

I jumped up, holding my hand to my chest as the unexpected voice scared me. I spun around to send Kenzie a glare, rolling my eyes at his childish grin.

"Are you stalking me? I swear you just jump out of every single wall when I'm alone." My eyebrows raised as he chuckled at me.

"I prefer the term investigating but stalking works too." He grinned, holding out on of the ice-cream cones. "I didn't think it was fair that we were all getting ice-cream and you were still stuck here."

"Thanks but I don't like mint chocolate ice cream." I declined, he moved forward and sat down next to me. He pushed the ice cream towards me again.

"Alberto's mint chocolate chip ice cream is like heaven on a cone. I promise, you'll love it." He tried again, holding it out.

I took it off him, signing. I licked the top of the scoop, tasting the flavour. It didn't seem to matter that the idea of eating it repulsed me to the core, it tasted heaven-like on my tongue. A swirl of flavours consumed my senses and I almost moaned at the pure deliciousness of it all.

Kenzie smirked as he saw my reaction, taking a bite out of his own.

"I think I like Alberto's Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream." I concluded, allowing my taste buds to taste some more of the daydream on a cone.

"Good." I smiled again as I looked at the ice-cream.

"So what was that thing with Mia before?" He inquired, trying not pry.

"You looked like you didn't want her touching you and then she had the guts to question what I was doing." I shrugged nonchalantly.

"She always touches me anyway, I'm not bothered." His voice quietened, showing how, in contrary to his words, uncomfortable he was at the topic.

"I'm not stupid, Kenzie, I can tell you don't like being touched." I said without much concern. "If she puts her hands on you ever again, cut them off."

His fingers had began messing with sleeve of his hooded jacket, scratching and moving under it and out of sight.

"It's okay if you don't feel comfortable with certain things. There's nothing wrong with it, Kenz." I tried to sooth him gently, nudging his shoulder with mine.

My phone ran out loudly, interrupting his reply. I signed heavily, glancing at the Caller ID.

Alec.

I answered, furrowing my eyebrows.

"Hello?"

"Rocky." Alec's voice sounded breathless as he spoke, the panic in his tone instantly alerted me of something bad. "It's Ivan..I think he's manic. And he's got a gun."

I sat up straighter, ignoring the concerned look Kenzie sent me.

"Where are you?" I questioned instantly, "Don't do anything, Alec, don't even talk to him. Get everyone away from him now."

"We're near the Ice-Cream Parlour." His voice rose in panic, "Look, he needs his medication, shit, Rocky, he needs his meds. What do I do? What do I fucking do?"

"Calm the fuck down, I'll be there in a second." I searched through my bag, finding the packet that I never used but knew he could. "I've got his lithium to stabilize his mood, he'll be alright."

I ran out of the building and continued until I could see the ice cream sign, Kenzie's footsteps soon following my trail, despite him not knowing what was going on. I hung up as I noticed the red-head stood restlessly facing Alec, Sky and the rest of the Jensens. I noticed the shine of the metal in his hands as I moved closer.

I held my bag out to Kenzie silently, putting the pills in his other hand. I examined the scene cautiously.

Sky was clutching Kade's shoulder, looking at his elder brother with a flicker of fear in his eyes. Kade stayed frozen as Ivan gave him a crazed look; It was obvious that he wasn't used to this kind of scene. Kace, Kane and Keegan stood back in the shadows, observing quietly but fearfully.

"Ivan." The redhead snapped his body round so he could see me, he held the pistol higher in the air and pointed it straight at my heart. I heard a sharp click echo around us then.

He took the safety off.

Shit.

I tried again, "Ivi, I need you to talk to me. Ple-"

"Another word and I'll blow your brains all over the fucking floor." He threatened, his voice unrecognisable. "I'll kill you! I'll fucking kill all of you!"

"Okay, Ivan." I held my hands up in mock surrender, causing him to lower the pistol slightly.

His eyes lit up suddenly and he spun back around to point it at Kade. The young boy was frozen solid as he gazed at his half-brother in pure terror. Even Sky looked at him in horror.

The shine in Ivan's eyes wasn't natural; He didn't look normal.

He didn't even look human.

But the message was clear to anybody as he glared at Kade with the gun held high.

He wanted to kill him.
