Chapter 2
"Â I made you cereal, it's the only thing that I can't burn."
Rochelle Quinn's POV:
I step out of the shadows.
--
The twin's chants halted as he stared open-mouthed at me, his other twin soon following. The goth just looked at me, his expression unable to be deciphered. Skater and Music guy surprisingly looked more and more like their older brothers as I walked into their view.
"Wait." One stuttered, his finger at me. "You're a girl."
No shit, Sherlock.
"Oh, I am? I definitely didn't notice." I replied sarcastically, rolling my eyes as their iris's widened further at my blatant sarcasm.
"Sarcastic much? Rocky's a guy name." Skater Guy stated, finally paying attention to my extraordinary arrival.
I rolled my eyes once again and didn't reply. This was the reason why I don't like living with teenage boys.
They're so fucking stupid.
The older man stood in front of me, extending his hand. "I'm Kyle Jensen and these are my boys and my wife, that I'm sure you've already met. It's a pleasure to welcome you into our home."
I shook his hand, the rough skin meeting soft. Years of skateboarding and learning how to play guitar had made the skin on my hands tough. He seemed shocked but didn't comment, a gesture which I was grateful for.
"Rocky Quinn."
He smiled at me forcefully, just like his wife was doing. As nice as it seemed, they were starting to creep me out.
"Mom, Dad, quit smiling. You're probably scaring her." One of the twins roll their eyes at his parents. As cute as he was, I felt the bizarre urge to smack him for taking my signature move but thankfully I didn't.
Jenny would be so fucking proud of me.
Any progress is good progress, right?
Mr Jensen glared at his son, but other than the sudden fear in the boy's eyes, he seemed unfazed.
I stared at the brothers nonchalantly, waiting for them to introduce themselves. I cross my arms exhaustingly, waving my hand at them in a rushed manner.
As I expected, the twins spoke up first.
"Kace Jensen" Just like his parents, he smiled at me but I could tell it was more forced than authentic. Just like his fathers.
"Kane Jensen, at your service ma'am. As you can see, I'm the most good looking out of these hideous creatures." He grinned at me cheekily, eyes gleaming with amusement.
I shook my head amusedly and studied the other brother. Kace smacked his brother on his neck, mumbling about how they're identical twins and that he's obviously the most handsome.
Hm. Funny.
I looked at the Goth. He still looked like he wanted to be anywhere but here and frankly, so did I. This place seemed too good to last.
"Kenzie Jensen." Oh, so the goth has a name. I'm shocked that it wasn't satanic or violent like Vladimir or Lucifer. In fact, it was a normal, and kind of feminine, name.
I looked at the last brothers, waiting for them to hurry up so I could leave.
The Music guy looked too much into his phone to reply.
So, the blond, skater guy spoke instead. "I'm Keegan and that's Kade."
"Pleasure to meet you all." I said sweetly yet sarcastically. My eyes ran over the brothers again before landing on the parents, waiting for their list of rules that I knew would come.
They didn't disappoint.
Katherine started off with the basics. "So I know that you've been to many homes but I'm sure the rules are the same. Try to stay out of trouble, please try not to fight with my boys or anyone else. But other than that, have fun." That women never stopped smiling, I began to feel nauseous just by looking at her.
God damn woman, stop smiling.
Her husband then carried on, taking a stricter tone. "We're aware of your track record, including the allegations that your last school placed against you and the incidents that occurred during your detention." I rolled my eyes. "You'll be enrolling into Ashton High, which is where all the boys go. Our boys cause enough trouble, we won't ask you to leave if you get in trouble but we'd prefer if you didn't."
Weird.
We won't ask you to leave.
Why would they ask me?
Its their home, their area, their children.
They don't get the privilege of asking me.
They can make me leave whenever they wanted.
And despite all the promises, they always do in the end.
*.*.*.*.*
Waking up in my new bed was strange. There was no back ache, no pain and no nightmares that woke me up in the middle of the night screaming.
I guess it was surreal.
I went to grab my new phone to check the time when I noticed a piece of paper on my cupboard.
Rocky,
Kyle and I have left for work, the boys will give you all the information you need for school. I've also asked them to take you to the Mall so you can get some new stuff and school equipment.
Love, Katherine.
The note definitely made me happy. I mean its family bonding, who wouldn't love it?
That's sarcasm by the way, extreme sarcasm.
Under no circumstances would I ever enjoy or willing bond with another human being.
It's pretty much another form of mental torture.
Unfortunately for me, I have to stay here so I decided, very unwillingly,to comply with my foster mother's wishes.
How fun!
I went downstairs, walking into the kitchen. Goth guy and blondie were sat at the table silently.
"Good morning, Rocky." Blondie greeted groggily, standing up to get a bowl of cereal left on the side. "I made you cereal, it's the only thing I can't burn." He smiled sheepishly. He passed me the bowl and I thanked him, taking a seat at the table.
"What crawled up and died in your pants, Gothie?" I ask patronisingly, smirking at his narrowed eyes.
"Don't worry about Kenz." Blondie spoke as he washed the dishes. "He's always like this."
"Like a miserable bastard?" I mumbled, munching on my cereal.
"Watch it, criminal." The goth growled, his nostrils flaring.
"What are you gonna do, Gothie? Bite me?" I argued, slamming my spoon on the table and standing up.
He stood up with me, moving forward until his face was in mine.
"Be careful what you say to me, or you might just disappear." He threatened, glaring down at me viciously.
Just as I was about to reply, one of the twins and the Music guy came in.
I ignored them and rose my hand, punching the goth across the face.
All of the boys rushed to hold us back. Blondie and the Music guy grabbed hold of Kenzie, stopping him from hitting me. The twin grabbed my arms and pulled them back into a bruising grip.
Blondie whispered something in the goths ear and he froze, giving up struggling. He glared at me again but didn't move for me when they released him.
"Let go of my arms." I snarled, fighting viciously against the grip.
"Calm down." One of the twins demanded, his voice deeper then the other one.
"Either you let go of my arms or I break every bone in yours, most of which you won't even know exist." I threatened, using his grip on me to headbutt him and break free.
"Ouch." Blondie commented, a grimace on his face as he stared at his older brother.
The twin held his hand up to his nose, trying to control the blood coming out of it.
"I'm going to pretend that you didn't just do that." He glared, the words spitting out of his mouth.
I smirked at him, flexing my wrist.
Music and Count Dracula watched the scene quietly, Skater boy stuffed a piece of toast in his mouth while the other twin comforted his brother.
Eventually, Music guy spoke,
"Okay lets go to the Mall before you break my brothers jaw."
"That's no fun."
