*2 years later*
Theo was enrolled in his dream college. Liam was accepted into a neighboring college just outside the town they were living in. They were living, with Athena, in their beautiful apartment that was decorated to acquire their taste.
They had a carefree life, just spending their days with each other. Blasting music and dancing around the apartment, treating each other to nice dates, having movie marathons and sleeping with the door closed.
It was perfect. Together they felt perfect. Liam didn't think it could honestly get better than this. Until now.
"Hey Theo! Classes ended early today so I went out and got us some smoothies." Liam cheered while walking in the door.
Theo nervously walked out of their bedroom, hands in his pocket. "Great, thank you!" Theo went over to bring the drinks to the table and greet his boyfriend with a kiss.
"So I was thinking," Theo began before Liam cut him off. "That's never a good sign." Theo glared at Liam before continuing. "We're still young. I'm only 21 and you're only 20 but it feels right!"
Liam was confused. "What feels right?"
"This." Theo got a box out of his pocket and got down on one knee. Liam shot his eyes wide open and gasped.
"Liam Dunbar, I love you so damn much. More than I've ever loved anyone before. Will you marry me... someday? It doesn't have to be now because granted we are still really young, but I want to be yours forever."
Liam felt a tear drop down his cheek and didn't do anything to stop it. "Theo Raeken I will marry you, someday."
Theo got up and smiled and placed it on Liam's finger. They gave a very pure, heartfelt kiss to welcome the new engagement.
"It doesn't have to be today, or tomorrow, or even a year from now. All I need to know is I am yours and you are mine." Theo whispered while looking into his soulmates eyes.
"You are mine, forever." Liam told him while holding up his finger that held the ring.
Athena came over meowing, almost like she was congratulating them. "Come here Athena." Liam cooed while picking her up.
"This. This is all I'll ever need to be happy."
Theo and Liam might have had to overcome many obstacles to get here and who's to say that they won't face many more obstacles in their path.
As long as they are together, the little things don't matter as much and the only thing that does, is that they are together.
Forever and always.
