325 The Atmosphere Is Subtle
Isabella immediately raised the plate over her head. âMr. Joseph, I havenât touched it yet. You can have it all.â
Joseph smiled wickedly. âThank you. Just give me one piece with the fork.â
Isabella felt that Cedric looked grim. She immediately pierced a piece for Joseph.
Then something happened that surprised everyone.
Joseph did not reach out to take the fork from Isabellaâs hand. Instead, he leaned over and opened his mouth to bite the fried crab, glancing at Isabellaâs shocked face...
Isabella saw Cedric clench his fists tightly and he yelled, âJoseph!â
âSorry.â
Joseph smiled wickedly. He bit the crab and returned to his seat. âI just want to prove that all of yours are actually mine.â
Cedricâs face darkened. âWe canât share women although weâre good friends, Joseph.â
.....
Joseph raised his eyebrows and took the crab from Stellaâs plate, who looked stunned. âStella, it takes a lot of effort to dismantle it, right? Let me help you.â
Stella came back to her senses after a long time. âThank you, Joseph.â
âNo problem.â
Joseph always treated Stella gently. He dismantled the crab and Gerry came over to clean up the crab shell. Joseph asked on purpose, âGerry, did you try to find the phone records that I missed? How did it go?â
Isabella immediately looked over in surprise. Stellaâs eyes narrowed.
Gerry paused and clenched his fist. âYes. But there were no missing call records.â
Joseph was stunned. âNo?â
âNo.â
Joseph frowned slightly. Although he was speaking to Gerry, his eyes fell on Isabella suspiciously. âGot it. You can leave now.ân/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
âOkay.â
Isabella frowned as well.
Perhaps it was because Josephâs tone was too serious, or maybe Josephâs actions of âeating crabsâ had upset Cedric. In short, the atmosphere at the dining table had become awkward.
Jayden was the smartest. When he noticed that the atmosphere was a little off, he changed the topic. As he ate, Jayden asked excitedly, âBy the way, Cedric, you said that you and Isabella have known each other since you were young. What did Isabella look like in the past?â
Joseph paused.
Cedric finally seemed to be in a better mood. He smiled, and the light in his eyes proved that Cedric was recalling some beautiful memories. âIsabella was a crybaby at that time and a little plump.â
âDonât say that I was plump.â
Isabella poked Cedric and interrupted him, âWhy not tell them the cuteness of me instead? You canât mention my bad in the past.â
Cedric said deliberately, âItâs fine. I like plump.â
âAre you looking for a fight?â
They laughed out loud. Suddenly, the sound of a collision disrupted them.
Everyone looked in the direction of the sound. Joseph was cutting a crab into pieces. Because of the angle and strength, the knife clicked the plate. The juice on the crab was also sprinkled on the white tablecloth.
âBe careful, Mr. Joseph!â
âWhatâs the matter, Joseph?â
Stella and Doris asked at the same time with concern.
âItâs fine.â
Joseph frowned and covered the stain in disgust with a piece of napkin. Stella thought about it and took the plate in front of Joseph. âIâll dismantle it for you. You can eat some other dishes first.â
Isabella paused and pretended not to see what was happening, lowering her head to eat.
The atmosphere became very subtle again. Because of Gerryâs âno recordâ reply, Isabella was a little distracted, and she seemed to lose her appetite, which was rare to happen.
âWhatâs wrong? Canât you finish the food?â
âDo you have no appetite?â Cedric asked with concern.
âMaybe I drank too much beverage.â
âI canât eat anymore,â Isabella said honestly.
Cedric nodded. âItâs okay. Have some snacks later. Iâll have them prepare some for you.â
Then Cedric took the leftover in front of Isabella and ate it.
âCedric.â
âDonât eat it!â Isabella was shocked by Cedricâs actions.
âWhy? Iâm not full.â
Isabellaâs face instantly turned red as she grabbed Cedricâs sleeve. âYou know thatâs not what I mean. That... Thatâs the leftover. Itâs not clean!â
âNot clean?â
Cedric smiled dotingly. âYou are so silly. Whatâs wrong with me eating your leftover? We are one. How can it be unclean?â
Isabella became totally embarrassed. Although Cedric was gentle to her, she felt that he did all these on purpose today.
Suddenly, there was a loud sound of a chair being pushed away. Joseph stood up. âEnjoy yourself, everyone.â
Then he left the dinner table.
Cedric lowered his eyes and took a sip of the red wine in his glass with darkness in his eyes.
After the afternoon nap, Joseph and Cedric were fishing.
Isabella heard cheers in the room. She didnât know the competition had begun until she came out. She lowered her head and looked at Josephâs and Cedricâs fish baskets. Joseph had more than ten, and Cedric only had seven or eight.
It was easy to tell who was doing better.
When Cedric saw Isabella come out, he smiled and pointed to the seat beside him and said intimately, âYouâre finally awake. I thought you wouldnât get up until dinner time.â
âWhat are the people in the water doing?â
Isabella saw many people in diving suits swimming around the yacht. âItâs so noisy. Can you get fish this way?â
âThey are trying to drive away the groups of fish.â
âItâll be easier for Joseph and me to compete this way,â Cedric explained.
Rich people really knew how to have fun.
Isabella shook her head helplessly and giggled. âBut it is obvious that you lost.â
Isabella looked in Josephâs direction. He was holding the fishing rod with a cold expression. It was as if he hadnât seen Isabella at all. Yet, sitting next to him, Stella tilted her beautiful head and greeted Isabella.
Isabella responded with a smile.
âIn terms of fishing, I canât compare to Joseph.â
âI donât have any chance of winning,â Cedric explained. âIâll be the one walking on the single-plank bridge later.â
âWhat is a single-plank bridge?â
âOver there.â
Cedric pointed at it and Isabella saw a wooden board stretching out from the deck and straight into the sea.
âThis doesnât seem to be difficult. It must be exciting to walk on it.â
Cedric smiled, his voice low and gentle. âAlthough I have a small chance of winning, I still hope you will pray for me to win.â
Isabella sat beside Cedric and nodded.
As soon as Isabella sat down, Cedric raised the fishing rod as a fish took the bait.
