306 Joseph Wants to Get Back Together
âDid you force her?â
Cedric smiled bitterly. âHow could I do such a thing? I will respect all her decisions. Never mind. Letâs leave it alone. I am in a good mood today. I will practice with you and serve as your punching bag. Is that okay?â
Joseph frowned and turned around. Gerry opened the door for Joseph and Joseph walked in.
Cedric took off his coat, put on the gloves, and followed Joseph in.
A loud sound was heard.
The referee whistled. Joseph punched Cedric. After Cedric dodged two punches, he was hit by the third one.
âOuch!â
Cedric gasped and stroked his mouth. âHe is so ruthless.â
Cedric said, âJoseph, could you please not punch my face? I still want to meet my girlfriend these few days...â
.....
Before Cedric finished his words, Joseph punched Cedric again.
Off the field.
Zachary said in a low voice, âDamn it! What happened to Joseph today? He hits too hard. Cedric doesnât try his best. Yet, Cedric has been punched four times.â
Jayden frowned and thought for a while. âSomething occurs to me, but Iâm not sure yet. I hope I thought too much.â
âWhatâs it?â
Zachary asked immediately.
âForget it.â
Jayden narrowed his eyes. âI guess I thought too much. Otherwise, it would be so scary.â
Zachary gossiped, âCome on! I long to know something scary. By the way, do you know Josephâs girlfriend? After she teased Joseph, she left immediately. Joseph is still sulking. Isnât she awesome?â
âIâm not teasing you. I only think itâs ridiculous. In short, Joseph has suffered due to the woman. You know his temper.â
Jayden stood up. âNo, I think Joseph will go crazy tonight. Iâll go to mediate between them. If it doesnât work, we canât let Cedric be hit alone, right? Good friends will suffer together.â
Zacharyâs teeth trembled. âIâm weak. I canât bear the pain. Moreover, Joseph will hit the face. I canât accept it.â
Jayden laughed and walked towards the arena.
Cedric leaned on the soft, elastic guardrail as he wiped his face. âI say, Joseph, letâs stop. Itâs been almost an hour.â
Jayden said, âExactly! Itâs almost an hour. Joseph, you should take a rest, too. Tell us what happened and we can help you solve it.â
Joseph shook off the sweat on his black hair and looked at Cedric coldly. âGet up and fight again.â
Cedric didnât want to move.
Jayden asked Gerry for a pair of gloves and walked into the arena. Jayden smiled and said, âHow about this? Joseph, letâs practice. Cedric will get married soon. Joseph, donât hit his face again. It will be terrible if his fiancée refuses to marry him due to his swollen face. Cedric shoulders the responsibility of the Stretton family...â
Before Jayden finished his words, Jayden was knocked to the ground by Joseph.
Zachary screamed in a startle, âJayden!â
Cedric immediately stood up and grabbed Josephâs hand. Cedric said seriously, âJoseph, what are you doing? He hasnât put on his gloves yet. The referee hasnât whistled.â
âShut up!â
Joseph punched Cedric. âCedric Stretton, fight with me! Come on!â
âJoseph Wilson, whatâs wrong with you?â
Cedric was punched by Joseph again. Cedric said angrily, âIsnât it just a breakup? Why are you doing this to your friends? We didnât go after your girlfriend.â
...
Isabella waited until 2 a.m. at home. She fell asleep and woke up in the early morning. Yet, Cedric didnât return home.
Isabella thought for a while and decided to call Cedric.
No one answered the phone. Isabella called again. This time, someone picked up the phone.
It was Peter.
Then, Peter told Isabella that Cedric was beaten and rushed to the hospital...
Isabella washed her face and changed her clothes immediately. As she decided to go to the hospital, her phone rang.
Isabella answered the phone without looking at the screen. âHello?â
No one replied.
The one on the phone remained silent.
Isabella frowned. âHello?â
A deep breath was heard.
Isabella looked at her phone and asked, âWho are you? If you canât hear me, I will hang up.â
âIsabella, I finally got your new phone number...â
A hoarse and weak voice was heard, but it made Isabella startle.
It was Joseph.
âWhatâs up?â
Isabella felt downcast, and her voice was a little rough, not very polite.
âHey, can you be gentle to me?â Joseph raised his voice and protested, âDid I offend you?â
âYou harass me early in the morning. How could I be gentle to you?â Isabella was very angry. She put one hand at her waist and said, âYou are wrong. I, Isabella Smith, am never a tender woman. Iâm wild. Iâll scratch people!â
âYou!â
âSo what! If thereâs nothing else, Iâll hang up!â Isabella roared.
âIsabella, how dare you!â
Isabella hung up the phone.
Joseph lay on the hospital bed, with his leg hung. He lost his temper with a swollen face. He shouted, âIsabella, you damned woman! How dare you hang up on me. I will kill you!â
William said with concern, âMr. Joseph, donât move. The doctor said that you have to lie down for a few days. Youâre severely injured. Eat something. Otherwise, you wonât be able to recover.â
âHow could I recover? Isabella pissed me off.â Joseph continued to dial the number.
After Isabella hung up the phone, her heart raced. Isabella thought, âWhen dare I confront Joseph so bravely? Iâm not afraid that he loses his temper now.
In the past, I dared not do such a thing. Even though others would defend me, I dared not do so. After all, in Peace City, if Joseph wants to teach me a lesson, no one can protect me.
Yet...
Why did he call me just now? Does he want to get back together with me?
How could it be? What does he take me for?â
Isabella shook her head.
She finished thinking.
Her phone rang again.
It was from Joseph. Isabella wondered whether to pick it up.
Isabella thought, âIf I pick it up, what to say?
Since we broke up, he canât be mad at me? Iâm not his punching bag.
If I donât pick it up...
What if he has something important to tell me?â
As Isabella hesitated, the phone stopped ringing. It didnât ring again.
Isabella touched her eyes, not knowing whether she felt sad or glad.
She was in a mess while confronting Joseph.
