28 What a Penny Pincher He Was!
The school bell rang.
Jane angrily rolled up her sleeves, âDamn. I have to reason things out with him. Why is this guy this heartless? If it werenât for you, he wouldnât have become a superstar and got his parentsâ business back. If it werenât for you, he might still be an incapable patient.â
âJane!â
Jane is being impulsive and Isabella immediately pulled her back, her eyes moist. âLove is not repaying kindness, is it? I like him, but he doesnât like me. Sometimes, things just donât work out.â
Jane looked at Isabella for a while, then turned around and gently hugged her, âIsabella, donât be sad. You will definitely meet someone who loves you. You will definitely have a happy life!â
âThank you, Jane.â
Isabella raised her head and let her tears flow back. She joked, âFortunately, you and David are be with me for so many years, so please forget about the handsome guys in the future. Let me be the only one in your eyes!â
âCome on! If I canât see handsome guys, you might as well kill me!â
Jane wiped away her tears and pulled up Isabellaâs hand. âOut with the old! Donât think of all this mess. Letâs go. Iâll accompany you to pay the registration fee for the Art Competition first!ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
.....
âThis afternoon?â Isabella paused.
âThe notice says that the deadline is 4:00 p.m. Itâs already past 3:00 p.m. Hurry up!â
âGod. I donât have that much money with me.â
Isabella took out her wallet. There were only less than 200 in it.
âYou are an adult. You donât even have 200 in your pocket?â
Jane said with resignation, âNever mind. Iâll lend you the money. Donât miss it. Hurry up!â
As the two spoke, they went to the school propaganda department.
Just as they turned the corner of the building, they saw a few black-clothed men with headphones on their ears and sunglasses crowding out of the administration building.
The headmaster, vice-headmaster, secretary, and even the school director followed behind, bowed their heads and said something.
However, when Isabella saw the handsome and arrogant man with narrow long eyes in the middle of the crowd, she immediately felt upset.
It was really a small world.
She had just stayed away from Joseph for two hours when she saw him again.
Why hadnât she noticed that this big cheese had such a close relationship with this little school of theirs before?
âWhat happened over there?â Jane tilted her feet and said, âIt seems that someone important has come.â
âJane, you can go back. I have something else to do.â
When Isabella saw Joseph in the crowd, she suddenly had an idea and a smirk appeared on her face.
âWhatâs more important than paying your registration fee? Hey! Wait!â
âDonât worry, Jane. Iâll pay it now!â Isabella didnât even turn around and ran away in a flash...
The black limousine was driven from the school administration building and passed the deserted woods in front of the lake.
A figure rushed out and suddenly blocked the way.
The car stopped abruptly, leaving a long mark on the ground.
Joseph coughed.
Joseph was leisurely smoking a cigar in the back seat just now. Because of the sudden braking, he coughed and said angrily, âGerry, do you know how to drive?â
âSorry, Mr. Joseph, itâs Miss Isabella...â
âMiss Isabella...â
Joseph frowned and glanced out of the car window. He saw Isabella standing outside and smiling at him.
He opened the window and said bluntly, âYou! If you want to die, jump into the lake over there. Or hang yourself from a tree. Donât bother me!â
Sure enough, donât look for musk in dogâs kennel.
Everyone said that the face was the index of the mind. Why was this wicked man so handsome and good-looking?
If it werenât for his handsome face, she wouldnât have been defeated twice by him...
Isabella cursed him inwardly, but she sounded sincere, âSorry to disturb you, Mr. Joseph. Actually, I donât want to die yet. I just came to ask you for something.â
âAsk me for something?â Joseph raised his eyebrows in confusion, âWhat is it?â
âI came to university from the Wilson Manor by bus. Can you pay the fare back to me now? I need the money.â
Joseph said, âBy bus?â
âThatâs right, by bus.â
Isabella worn a fawning smile, âYou refused to have someone drive me to university, so I could only take the bus by myself. However, for me, this money was spent because I helped you act.â
Isabella glanced at Josephâs expression and made sure that he was in a relatively stable mood. âIn short, you have the obligation to reimburse me for this fare,â she said straightforwardly.
After Joseph heard this, his pitch-black eyes swept Isabella up and down with a trace of disdain. Then, he took out his wallet and said disdainfully, âHow much is it?â
âNot much, only 100.â
When Isabella heard that he didnât say no, she stretched out a finger and smiled happily.
âYou blocked the way just for a hundred?â
Joseph unhappily took out a hundred and threw it at Isabella, âIsabella, are you crazy for money?â
âNot quite.â
Isabella happily took over the money and immediately took a step back. âIf thereâs nothing else, I wonât disturb you, Mr. Joseph. Goodbye!â
As she spoke, she turned around.
âWait!â
Isabella froze, âIs there anything else, Mr. Joseph?â
âDo you think Iâm stupid?â
Joseph always looked arrogant and patronizing. At this moment, his slightly evil amber eyes carried a hint of anger, sending chills down oneâs spine.
Isabella did not know what she had said wrong, so she carefully asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
âIt costs one per bus ride. You took the bus twice a day, and itâs only 60 a month. I am a generous man. Iâll give you 80, but you have to give me at least 20 back!â
Joseph said angrily, âYou want to leave like this?â
Damn, he was the president of the Global Group and the successor of the Wilson Consortium. He owned hundreds of billions and had a powerful influence on Peace City. And now he was haggling over 20 with a poor little girl?
He even said that he was generous. Then, what was he going to do if he wasnât generous? What a penny pincher he was!
Isabella cursed Joseph from head to toe inwardly, then suppressed her depression. She took out her wallet and smiled brightly, âSorry, itâs my fault. I forgot about this. Donât worry. Iâll give you change now.â
As she spoke, she opened his wallet.
Then her expression suddenly froze.
âWhatâs wrong? What the hell happened to you?â
Joseph looked at Isabella and said testily, âDonât tell me you donât have the money. You want to take advantage of me? No way!â
âI have change, but itâs not enough!â
Isabella showed the wallet to Joseph and said honestly, âLook, there are only eight left in change. Shall I give it to you later?â
Joseph looked at Isabellaâs thin and cheap wallet and fixed his eyes on the only one hundred. He frowned and said, âScram.â
Then he closed the window and left.
âYou scram! Joseph, you really are a miser! Youâre so mean. You must be a picky gay!â
Isabella couldnât hold back her anger and cursed in the woods...
