240 Get Out If Youâre Scared
Katherine agreed at once. Lukas intended to say something for knowing that he was going to dry off with Isabella in the room together. While Isabella said first, âAnyway, Lukas, come in and dry your clothes first.â
Wesleyâs house was large, but it was very simple. Everything was very primitive with only a small wooden bed in the room and a large fire basin in the middle.
When Lukas and Isabella went into the room, they found that Katherine had already burned the brazier and left. Isabella pointed at Lukasâs clothes, âYou might be uncomfortable, take it off and dry it.â
Lukas stood by the door and said with restraint, âIâm fine. Isabella, donât worry about me.â
After a pause, he explained, âI came only for your safety.â
Isabella saw Lucas lowered his head primly, like a child who had done something wrong, waiting for his teacher to criticize him.
Once upon a time, he had always been a brave, resourceful, and omnipotent big brother in front of me. When did he become like this ...
âWell, it was because of that eight hundred million contract, he lost all the dignity to face me.â she thought.
Half of Lukasâs body was wet because he held the entire umbrella over her side before entering the room. His eyes were red, probably due to fatigue from filming day and night.
.....
He had been cowering in front of Joseph while he wanted to protect Isabella like before.
Was he trying to make up for his mistakes, hoping for her forgiveness, or was he still her big brother underneath?
Isabella let out a sigh of relief. It didnât matter anymore. She had already fallen in love with Joseph. Why bother placing Lukas in perdition?
âItâs natural for a brother to care about his sister.â Isabella thought.
âYou can change into Uncle Wesleyâs clothes first. Iâll help you dry yours,â Isabella said as she walked forward and handed a package to Lukas.
Lukas looked at Isabellaâs wet shoulder and insisted, âDry yours first, or you will catch a cold.â
Isabella nodded, then she went behind the shutter to change her wet clothes. The fire reflected her graceful figure on the dim wall. When Lukas saw her begin to untie her bra, he clenched his fist and looked away ...
The rising wind foreboded the coming storm.
On Green Hill, the rainstorm came quickly and fiercely, Isabella was floored by it. Though it was just five or six, she couldnât see anything only a dozen meters away.
Isabella stood at the door and looked anxiously at the drifting rain.
âWell, Isabella, Iâm afraid you have to stay here tonight. It rains too heavily and a landslide may occur.â
Wesley advised them to stay in his house.
âLetâs see if the rain stops later.â
Although Isabella lied to Joseph to stay here tonight, it was just a flirting, but not her intention. Due to the strange environment with stormy weather, she felt very uncomfortable and annoying.
She took out her phone and wanted to call Joseph, she could feel safer when hearing his cold but steady voice.
Because after the Small black house affair and the Empire Entertainment Center scandal, Isabella believed that Joseph would save her from any danger. And he could help her solve anything difficult for her.
Unfortunately, there was no signal on the hill due to the heavy rain! Even the landline didnât work!
Isabella walked back to the room with disappointment. Seeing her come in, Lukas asked, âIn the restaurant explosion case, all the blame was pointed at your father, saying it was due to his violation operation. I thought that no one could forgive him. But I didnât expect Uncle Wesley and Aunt Katherine to be so kind to you now.â
Isabella recovered from the signal problem, âUncle Wesley is different from others. According to my mother, he was lame before the explosion happened.â
His son was also lame, probably due to heredity. He wanted his son to be cured, so he decided to leave home and make money for the surgery, but he couldnât find any job.
My dad pitied him and paid a portion of his sonâs medical expenses. Then my dad hired him to deliver food to the restaurant. Uncle Wesley said that he survived because he had just walked out of the door of the restaurant after delivering the food when the explosion happened.
So even if his legs were broken, he didnât believe that my father could be greedy for petty gain.â
Lukas nodded, âIt seems that Uncle Wesley didnât know what exactly happened, either.â
Isabella lowered her head, âI donât remember my father clearly, but I know Uncle Wesley wonât lie. He trusted my father, so did I.â
...
In a ritzy restaurant owned by the Global Group in Peace City.
Joseph checked his phone before attending the banquet, finding that little fox hadnât given him a single call.
It seems that Isabella was indeed angry.
Thinking of that Isabella rolled her eyes at him yesterday, Joseph knew that she was complaining that he didnât know how to be considerate and romantic.
âWell, since you want romance, then I will give an impressing one.
A surprise is the best romance.â Joseph thought.
He smiled bitterly and handed the phone to Gerry, âIsabella didnât know that I can find her location through her phone. And she must be depressed now, go buy a bouquet of red roses and bring my modified hummer over. We will go to the Green Hill and take little fox home after dinner.â
âOK,â Gerry replied and left.
Then Joseph entered the private room and chatted with the guests jovially.
Halfway through the banquet, Gerry suddenly entered the room after knocking on the door and whispered a few words to Joseph.
Joseph tightened his grip on the wine glass and patted the person next to him, âMr. Jonas, I have to handle something urgently, you will discuss the project for me.â
âBut this is a mega-project. I canât make a decision alone!â
âItâs up to you.â
Joseph stood up impatiently, saying a few polite words to the guests, and then he walked out.
âHow long had the rainstorm on Green Hill lasted?â Joseph put on his coat and went straight to the underground parking lot.
âIâve called the Municipal Meteorological Bureau. They said it started in the afternoon.â
Gerry said hastily, âI couldnât get through to Miss Isabella, it might be the signal problem. After all, she is in the mountain area.â
âIâll drive. Youâll be in charge of positioning.â
âAre we going to Green Hill?â
Gerry said in a hurry, âWe canât go there, landslides and mudslides may happen over there. Itâs too dangerous.â
âBut Isabella is there. Give me the key.â Joseph reached out his hands.
âI canât!â
Gerry refused him, âMr. Joseph, I will send someone to find Miss Isabella in half an hour, you canât go yourself ...â
âGive me the key!â
Joseph roared, âGet out of here if youâre scared!â
