157 The Last Dance
âCool!â
Lukas sat on the rooftop with his legs hanging outside. He drank beer and looked down at the dense crowd at the flea market. Then he sighed, âI havenât feasted on spicy beef and beer in this way for four years.â
Isabella licked an ice cream and smiled broadly. âWith an ice cream, I also feel happy.â
Lukas turned to Isabella. âOnly an ice cream can make you happy?â
âOf course.â
Isabella suddenly thought of Josephâs words and asked, âDo you all think that Iâm easily satisfied? Itâs just because I havenât eaten ice cream for years. I just cherish the memory, like you miss the time when you ate spicy beef and beer. Thatâs what makes us happy!â
Lukasâs eyes flickered. âThey donât even buy you an ice cream? If you had told me before, I could have bought it for you.â
Isabella paused for a moment and smiled. âAfter all, he isnât my biological father. I canât ask him for too much. Iâm grateful that he provides me with raiment and daily bread and sends me to school.â
Although well acquainted with Isabella and Rosy, Lukas was probably oblivious of abuses Isabella had suffered in the Smith family. In order not to ruin his reputation, Carl never hit her on the parts easy to be seen. That was why Lukas didnât know that.
.....
Of course, Isabella never told him about that.
She cherished every single minute with Lukas and didnât want to spare time for those troublesome things which would also upset Lukas.
Hearing this, Lukas blinked. âIf I remember correctly, your academic and professional performance is qualified. So your graduation will go smoothly this year.â
Isabella stared at Lukas and said, âWow, thanks for being concerned about me, even knowing my grades.â
âDonât mention it.â
Lukas smiled, took out a bag and handed it to Isabella. âHere is a graduation gift for you. Now I give it to you in advance.â
Isabella hesitated for a moment. âLukas didnât...â
âWhatâs wrong?â
âDidnât you promise Rosy that you wouldnât give gifts to other girls?â
Lukas laughed.
He rubbed Isabellaâs hair, âYouâre not. You are Isabella, my little girl.â
Since she was fated not to be Lukasâs girlfriend, it was not bad for her to be his little girl.
Isabella was relieved. She smiled and nodded with the bag in her hands. Then she opened it and was instantly surprised. âWow, what a beautiful dress. Lukas, you have good taste...â
âI donât know when this yearâs graduation party is held. Iâm going abroad for an event in a few days, and Iâll probably miss it.â
The night wind blew Isabellaâs hair which covered Isabellaâs face. Lukas stared at her beautiful profile, full of expectation. âSo why not put it on and let me see if it fits you?â
Isabella immediately nodded and smiled. âThen Iâll go to the bathroom downstairs to put it on. Donât jump down and make me a murderer.â
Lukas couldnât help but laugh.
His eyes were full of affection. âNaughty.â
...
At the flea market downstairs.
The gloomy expression on Josephâs face almost darkened the sky. âDonât I look weird with flat hair and in a knit shirt?â
William smiled and said, âItâs much better than before. At least you wonât scare the children here.â
âLetâs stop here!â
Joseph said impatiently, âCall Isabella and ask her to see me. Itâs just a waste of my time!â
âThere is only one street left.â
William continued to smile, âMr. Joseph, please hold on a little longer and then you can present Miss Isabella a surprise. The smile on her face will make all your efforts worthwhile.â
Joseph didnât say anything.
He found William crafty. He seemed obedient with a smile on his face, but this was not the case. Nevertheless...
Nevertheless, he always got to the point, which made him unable to refute.
At the thought of Isabellaâs sweet smile on her face, Joseph was convinced.
He had to say that William was a shrewd old man who could even deal with Charlie.
Joseph snorted and was ready to be patient enough to cover the last street...
...
On the rooftop.
Lukas gulped down the rest of the beer and happened to hear Isabella call him, âLukas.â
Lukas turned around and saw Isabella standing behind him, with her fingers scratching her blushing face. âIt seems a little tight. I might have gained weight since I ate too much recently.â
The skirt was a cheongsam style combining modern elements.
It was covered in white shiny pieces and pearls, looking modern and classic.
Moreover, Isabella had a narrow waist and long legs, with white skin. She looked gorgeous and curvaceous.
This dress was almost tailor-made for her.
Lukas fastened his gaze on this pure white figure. âSure enough...â
âWhat?â Isabella asked.
âSure enough, it suits you the most.â
Lukas came back to his senses and smiled gently. âThis dress looks better on you than models. Itâs not tight at all.â
âLukas, I find you much more honey-lipped after working for several years...â
âIâll be smug with your compliment,â Isabella said with a smile.
Lukas took out his phone, tapped at it, and then jumped from the rooftop to the ground. With one hand behind his back, the other drawing a circle in front of Isabella gracefully and exaggeratedly, he bowed and said, âFair lady, may I have the honor of the dance tonight?â
Isabella was stunned. Then, she covered her mouth and smiled. She lifted her skirt and nodded slightly. Finally, she put her hands into Lukasâs.
The graceful dance music played on the phone, and they danced in the night wind.
âI remember that the last time I danced with you was four years ago at my graduation party. You surprised everyone present.â Lukas looked down at Isabella.
âItâs crafty of you to find a partner from the dance department that time.â
Isabella could not help but laugh. Tonight, Lukas also reminded her of a lot of sweet memories.
She saw it as a farewell ceremony to say goodbye to Lukas and her crush on him.
It wasnât heart-wrenching. She just watched him walk towards his happiness happily and peacefully...
It was quite good.
âEven if youâre not from the dance department, I would still choose you as my partner,â Lukas said.
âThen what other merits do I have?â
âYouâre so beautiful.â Lukas laughed. âYou wonât mind that Iâm a face-judger, will you?â
âMe too. I also think youâre very handsome.â
Lukas laughed again.
They danced elegantly, like butterflies shining in the night which were elegant and beautiful.
After a long time, the dance ended.
Isabella panted slightly and intended to take a step back with a smile to exit elegantly.
But when withdrawing her hands from his, she found that Lukas wouldnât let go.
