Ben rubbed his eyes, making sure what he was seeing was real. He was paralyzed in shock.
It wasnât Elizabeth after all!
How could it be her?
Even racking his brains, Ben couldnât figure it out.
The person who had thrown away his book was Lily Wilson.
In the empty classroom, Lily appeared sneakily on the CCTV footage.
She then walked purposefully to his desk, picked up his math book, and without even glancing at it, dumped it in the trash.
She then sneaked away.
The whole act took less than two minutes.
âNow that the truth is out, what have you got to say?â Jack asked Ben sarcastically.
He couldnât understand why Lily would target Elizabeth when they were related.
But sometimes, disliking someone doesnât need a reason.
Frank sighed, âI told you before not to accuse classmates without evidence. Now that the truth is out, what do you plan to do?â
What a disgrace.
Benâs head was buzzing with rage toward Lily and embarrassment from Mr. Berwickâs question.
All his previous bravado was gone.
âNow youâre afraid.â
Thomas pulled him in front of Elizabeth, âIt was all a misunderstanding from the beginning; you should apologize.â
Ben stared wide-eyed, his fists clenched tightly, unable to utter an apology.
Why didnât they mention the CCTV earlier?
He wouldnât have falsely accused her then, which made him a victim too.
Why should he apologize?
Elizabeth looked at his flushed face and said, âI wonât forgive you.â
Thomas was frustrated. Professor Lawrence was generally easygoing. In her eyes, everyone was just a kid. Unless it was a major mistake, she wouldnât fuss about it. He wondered what Ben had done to upset her.
Jack glanced at the emotionless Elizabeth, realizing how helpless she must have felt being accused in front of the entire class.
Thinking this, his expression grew gloomier, âJust saying sorry and expecting forgiveness? This wonât end here. If the school doesnât handle it, weâll deal with it the Wilson family way.â
Hearing this, Ben went pale!
Elizabeth suddenly spoke up, âYou tore my book, and I canât forgive that. Starting today, you have three days to handwrite the entire math book a thousand times. If you donât finish, the count will increase until you do.â
âAre you joking? Why should I write it?â Benâs face contorted in disbelief. That was a thick math book.
Did he have to wear himself out writing it a thousand times?
Would he have to write until his hand fell off?
Even a genius couldnât finish that in three days.
This was clearly torture!
Elizabeth simply nodded, âIf you donât want to copy, we can announce a major violation to the entire school. Weâll continuously play a recording of the incident at the school entrance for a year. That way, everyone can know the consequences of impulsiveness.â
Ben was even more reluctant. That would mean the whole world would know about it. How could he still attend school?
Thomas was the first to speak, âWrite it a thousand times.â
It was better than bringing shame to the whole family.
Ben stuttered, âI donâtâ¦â
Elizabeth turned to Thomas, âYou supervise him. When heâs done, bring it to me for inspection. If he makes mistakes againâ¦â
âNo problem.â Thomas agreed with a wry smile.
He felt so unfortunate, wishing he hadnât gotten involved.
Elizabeth nodded slightly, âMr. Berwick, for now, weâll settle Benâs matter this way. Now itâs time to deal with Lily. Please bring her here, Mr. Berwick..â
