Die

âSheâs so malicious. I mistakenly thought her dress was a knockoff. I apologized later, but she had Sir and Lady Wilson laid pressure on our familyâs business.â
The more Lily thought about it, the angrier she became, raising her voice unintentionally.
Upon hearing this, the classmatesâ impression of Elizabeth took a sudden downturn. Was she the kind to tattle like this?
Being friends with someone like her, they wondered if she might backstab them someday or snitch to their teachers.
The car stopped outside the gates of Sunny Heights High School.
Students bustled around the entrance. When Elizabeth stepped out, many eyes turned her way.
She was beautiful with her sleek black hair tied in a ponytail, dressed in a black and white school uniform, her face pale and delicate, her eyes cold and clear.
Elizabeth seemed oblivious to the stares, her gaze fixed on the imposing statue at the schoolâs entrance.
Emily stepped out of the car and saw Elizabeth staring intently at the statue. Approaching her, she complained, âWhich taxi did you take? It drove like it was in a race!â
Elizabeth pondered for a moment, âThe driver used to be a rally racer.â
Emily responded, âNot only are delivery guys versatile these days, but taxi drivers too?â
Noticing Elizabethâs continued interest in the statue, Emily informed her, âThatâs the young Emeritus Lawrence, the schoolâs founder. Do you know who he is?â
âYes,â Elizabeth nodded.
Thinking Elizabeth had done her research, Emily added, âMany of his students have become the pillars of our nation, and several have received national lifetime achievement awards. But few have seen him, as heâs reclusive and protected.â
âI wonder if he ever married or has any descendants.â
Emily said with curiosity.
Alexander stood behind Emily and, hearing her endless chatter, told her, âYou talk too much.â
Emily pouted.
But Elizabeth spoke up, âHe never married, but he has a granddaughter.â
Emily laughed, âWithout marriage, how could he have a granddaughter? Thatâs a cold joke, Elizabeth.â
Elizabeth didnât argue. The brilliant sunlight reflected in her eyes, causing Alexander to pause momentarily.
After staring at her for a few seconds, he looked away.
âYou both will be late.â
Elizabeth turned her gaze away and started walking toward the school.
âWait.â Alexander called out to Elizabeth, lifting his refined chin slightly, âButton your collar.â
He watched Elizabeth unbutton two buttons on her collar, revealing her fair collarbone and clicked his tongue appreciatively.
Elizabeth looked down, âItâs hot.â
Alexander leaned forward, lifting his hand and, without further ado, buttoned it for her, âDecent and proper, a student should look like a student.â
Elizabeth noticed that Alexanderâs fingers were quite attractive, with distinct knuckles and good proportions â hands worth dissecting and studying.
Emily, with her mouth agape and eyes wide, looked down, glancing at her own collar, also undone by two buttons, not understanding how this related to being indecent or improper.
âItâs hot.â Elizabeth moved her neck slightly. Alexander chuckled, âThereâs AC in the classroom.â
âOh,â Elizabeth turned and walked away.
Alexander was speechless.
Did she walk away just like that?
Was the AC that important?
Emily caught up with Elizabeth and whispered, âI think my brother is sick.â
Elizabeth paused, asking with concern, âIs it serious?â
âVery serious. Iâm really scared,â Emily confided.
Elizabeth responded calmly, âItâs okay. Let me know when heâs about to die. I can turn him into a robot.â
âThen heâll live forever, though he wonât be able to eat; heâll need charging.â
Emily was dumbfounded.
That didnât sound like a blessing at all..
