Silvia stared him down.
âSo, what did you find? Did you receive photos of me kissing or having sex with him?â
Neil frowned, but she left the living room before he could respond.
The silence between them was so obvious that even Leo and the housekeeper noticed it.
The housekeeper approached Silvia and whispered, âMiss Pond, have you had an argument with Mr. Remus?â
âNo. Why do you ask?â
âHe seems to be in a bad mood lately.â
After a brief silence, Silvia said, âItâs probably because of his workload at the company. Donât worry about him. Heâll be fine in a while.â
âAlright.â
After the housekeeper left, she waited on the couch for Neil to return.
Around 7 p.m., Curtis called to inform her that Neil had a dinner party, so he would not be back for dinner.
After she hung up, she did not bother reheating the food and just had a few bites. Then, she watched TV for a while before she headed to bed.
Throughout the party, Neil requested his phone from Curtis every half an hour.
Curtis initially assumed that he was waiting for an important clientâs call. However, around 10 p.m., Neil checked his phone again and frowned. He turned to Curtis and asked, âWhat did you say to Silvia?â
Curtis was stunned for a moment, and he subconsciously responded, âI simply informed her that you wouldnât be returning for dinner.â
âWhat was her response?â
âShe just said âokay.ââ
Neilâs expression darkened. âShe didnât ask when Iâd be back?â
âNo.â
Neil fell silent and poured himself another glass of wine.
Usually, nobody would dare push him into drinking at a social gathering. However, he accepted every offered drink tonight and had downed over ten glasses.
His body had just recovered, and Curtis was worried that all this consumption might harm his health, so he softly advised, âMr. Remus, you shouldnât drink anymore.â
Neil glanced at him coldly. âCall Silvia and ask her to pick me up.â
In an instant, he understood why Neil had been checking his phone: He was waiting for a call from Silvia, not a client.
Curtis quickly called Silvia, but it kept ringing and eventually went to voicemail.
âShe didnât answer, Mr. Remus.â
âKeep trying!â
After making several calls without any success, Neil grew increasingly dissatisfied.
Curtis was prepared to continue calling when he coldly said, âStop calling. Take me back.â
By the time he returned to the mansion, it was already 11 p.m.
Curtis left after he dropped him off, and Neil wheeled himself into the bedroom with a dour expression.
When he switched on the bedroom light and saw Silvia sleeping soundly on the floor, his blood boiled.
He had been irritable every day since their big argument. Yet, she was eating well, sleeping soundly, and not taking him seriously.
âSilvia, wake up!â
After a few more tries, she finally woke up.
In a dazed state, she noticed a figure not far away and was immediately jolted awake.
She frowned when she realized it was Neil. She sat up and asked, âWhy are you staring at me instead of sleeping at this hour?â
âWhy didnât you answer when Curtis called you?â

She was somewhat speechless. Was this the reason for waking her up?
âCome on, how can I answer when Iâm asleep?â
âFrom now on, if I attend a dinner party, youâre not allowed to sleep until I return!â
