He had some understanding of Silviaâs character by now. If others did not provoke her, she would not go out of her way to cause trouble.
When Ada realized that Neil was not on her side, she instantly felt more distressed.
âNeil, I really just wanted to help her serve the poached eggs. Somehow, it flipped over by accident. Silvia thought that I did it on purpose and slapped me...â
Neil remained silent for a few seconds before he said, âI understand. You can head back for now.â
Ada looked at him in disbelief. Was he not going to stand up for her?
âOkay. Iâll come and visit you again next time. Neil, donât be hard on her. Silvia only got so angry because I was unhelpful. I donât blame her.â
However, Neil appeared calm, and she could not detect any emotions in his eyes. Therefore, she left in disappointment.
Neil searched the living room for a while and finally found the first aid kit.
He slid his wheelchair back to the bedroom just as Silvia stepped out of the restroom. She had washed her arm with cold water. She was surprised to see the first aid kit in Neilâs hand. Should he not be comforting Ada?
âCome over here. Iâll put some medicine on your wound.â
Silvia noticed his calm gaze. After she stood still for a while, she walked up to him.
âGive me the first aid kit. Iâll do it myself.â
Neil appeared a little annoyed. âIt wonât be convenient for you. Iâll help.â
âForget it then. Itâll heal in a few days, anyway.â
Seeing that she was about to walk away, he got angry and yelled, âStop!â
He handed her the first aid kit but made his displeasure apparent.
Silvia took it and left the bedroom without looking at him.
Neil pushed the wheelchair out, while Silvia sat on the couch to apply some lotion. He noticed that her fair arm had turned red, and his gaze darkened.
âWhy did you slap Ada four times?â
Silvia glanced at him before she said with the ghost of a smile, âAre you feeling sorry for her? If you are, donât meet up with her here. You can do whatever you want as long as itâs somewhere Iâm not around.â
Neil frowned, and his voice sounded slightly colder. âEven if she really did it on purpose, two slaps would be enough.â
Silvia paused before she raised her head and looked at him. âThe other two slaps were for tampering with my horse at the horseback riding center. I always settle the score on my own. If you really feel sorry for her, you can accept her punishment on her behalf next time!â
âWhat about me? I wrongfully accused you at the horseback riding center too. How are you going to teach me a lesson?â
Silvia looked down and continued applying the lotion on her arm. She finally raised her head and looked at Neil after she threw the cotton wool into the trash can.
âIf youâd like, you could slap yourself twice. But your wrongful accusation didnât cause me direct harm, so I wonât exact any revenge just for the sake of a few sentences.â
After she spoke, she cleaned the first aid kit and prepared to walk away.
Neil grabbed her hand, and his voice sounded a little low and dull. âSilvia, didnât you agree to stay in the mansion and take care of me because you still have feelings for me?â
Silvia did not know how he came up with this conclusion. She looked at him in confusion and said, âYouâre overthinking it. You said it yourself that you got into the accident on your way to submit the divorce papers. I feel partly responsible to take care of you.â
The whole thing also happened because she had conflict with Scorpion. She had inadvertently dragged him into it.
Neil looked into her eyes to see if she was lying.
However, she just calmly looked back at him. Her eyes were emotionless.
For some reason, he felt disappointed.
He let go of Silviaâs hand and spoke rashly because he was hurt, âItâs best that you donât have feelings for me. I wonât fall for you either, so I hope you know your place!â
