âNo. I wonât be able to work efficiently if you move here.â
âI can help you.â
Silvia raised her eyebrows in amusement and calmly said, âI donât want you to meddle in my companyâs affairs, and I donât want to get used to relying on you.â
Disappointment flashed across Neilâs eyes as he remarked gloomily, âSometimes I wish that you werenât so capable. If only you could shop and travel every day without worry like other women.â
Silvia once imagined a life like that, but the harsh reality ruined her fantasy and enlightened her.
She smiled. âI prefer my current life.â
Neil eventually released her. âOkay. Iâll pick you up at night.â
âOkay.â
After she got out of the car, Neil watched as she entered MY Corporation. Then, he instructed his driver to head to Remus Corporation.
...
Joe knocked on Silviaâs office door and came in near noon.
âMiss Pond, a person called Jane Leighton would like to meet you.â
Silvia was surprised because she could not figure out why Jane would meet her there.
âTell her Iâm busy,â she said with a frown.
She was not interested in what Jane had to say.
âUnderstood.â
Since it was Monday, there were plenty of things to handle in the company. Silvia forgot about Jane once she became busy with work.
When it was almost time to clock out, Joe informed her that Jane was still waiting downstairs. It looked like Jane would not give up unless she met her that day.
After a short silence, Silvia said, âAsk her to come upstairs.â
With Joe leading the way, Jane quickly arrived at her office.
When she spotted the âpresidentâ sign in front of Silvia, her envy became uncontrollable. Jane felt that Silvia would never own such a company without Neil.
The same thing had been within her reach a while ago. But in her eyes, she ended up with nothing because of Silvia!
At that thought, she wanted nothing but to give Silvia a slap.
âWhy did you come to me, Miss Leighton?â
Silvia could discern the jealousy in Janeâs eyes, but she was indifferent. After all, she would have no further contact with Jane.
Jane sat across from her and said, âMiss Pond, I heard that you were married to Mr. Remus?â
Displeasure started to fill Silviaâs eyes. âI donât think thatâs any of your business, right?â
Jane smiled. âRight. But I heard that you guys got a divorce.â
âWhat are you trying to say?â
Her smile grew wider as she stressed her words, âMiss Pond, do you really think that youâve divorced Mr. Remus?â
Silvia frowned, and her heart gradually sank.
âI donât know what youâre talking about!â
âItâs okay if you donât know. You can look it up. Mr. Remus didnât get your divorce papers notarized, and he gave you a fake divorce certificate!â
She stared at Jane with contempt and said, âI have no idea why youâre making such groundless statements, but I have no interest in finding out.
Please leave right away!â
Jane got to her feet and looked at Silvia with disdain and ridicule.
âI pity you sometimes, Miss Pond. You donât realize how Mr. Remus has made a fool out of you.â
âAre you leaving on your own, or do you need the security guard to drive you out?â

After she left, Silvia took a deep breath and tried to fish for her phone on the table. However, her hand trembled, and she failed to get her phone despite several attempts.
