Silvia stood at the door and briefly heard what had happened.
She walked into the ward and said, âHow much do they owe in medical fees? Iâll pay for them.â
The nurse and Daisy turned around at the same time. When Daisy saw Silvia, it looked like she had seen her savior. She immediately knelt before her with a loud thud.
âIâll do anything if youâre willing to help my brother! Iâm begging you!â
Silvia helped her up and cleared all the outstanding medical bills. âI gave you six hundred thousand this morning. Why didnât you use it to pay the medical fees?â she later asked.
Daisyâs eyes shone with anger. She gritted her teeth and said, âMy dad has all the bills from my brotherâs hospitalization, so I passed the money to him. To my surprise, he turned against me immediately after. He said that he wouldnât pay a single cent for my brother and that he would leave him to his fate!â
Silvia frowned in response. âWhy would your parents be so cruel?â
âJacob isnât my biological brother. My parents adopted him. When my mother gave birth to me, they tried to abandon my brother. But they were afraid that the neighbors would criticize them, so they ended up keeping him.
âSadly, theyâve never treated him well. They would vent their anger on him and hit him from time to time. Iâve secretly told my brother to run away many times, but he insists on protecting me until Iâm old enough. I received an acceptance letter from the university recently. Soon, weâll be able to escape this stifling place. Unexpectedly, my brother suffered an anaphylactic shock, and heâs been lying unconscious in the ICU...â
Silvia gave her a tissue and slowly said, âHeâll recover.â
Daisy wiped her tears and said, âActually, I know that your company has nothing to do with my brotherâs condition, but I donât know where else to get the money to pay his medical fees. If they take him off the ventilator, heâll die. Iâm sorry...â
It took a long time for Daisy to calm down.
Her eyes were swollen as she looked at Silvia. âYou can rest assured. Iâll bring you the shirt.â
Silvia shook her head. âItâs okay. That piece of cloth was enough. It no longer matters whether you give me the shirt or not.â
However, Daisy gritted her teeth. âMy parents wonât be so bold once they lose the shirt.â
She had a feeling that her parents were responsible for Jacobâs allergy, but she used to hold out hope for the small chance that they might be decent people. That was no longer the case.
Since Daisy was determined, Silvia did not say anything else.
Perhaps it was something that Daisy had to do to feel better.
Silvia kept her company for a while and got ready to go home. All of a sudden, she felt a cold shiver run down her spine.
When she raised her head, she was surprised to see the tall figure at the end of the corridor.
Silvia only snapped out of it after Neil walked up to her.
âWhat brings you here?â
âA friend told me that he saw you in the hospital, so I came over.â
Silvia frowned. âYou have a friend working in the hospital?â
âItâs David. He broke his leg saving a girl, so heâs been hospitalized.â
Silvia was speechless.
The moment Daisy saw Neil, she was totally stunned.
She had never seen such a handsome man. Her heart pounded fast, and her face slowly turned red.
However, he did not spare her a glance. He held Silviaâs hand and said, âLetâs pay David a visit.â
Silvia was hesitant. âBut I didnât bring him anything.â
If she had known about Davidâs hospitalization, she would have brought some fruits or flowers.
âHe doesnât need all that.â
After Neil said this, he dragged her away.
Daisy just stared at them absent-mindedly.
Ten minutes later, Neil pushed open the door to Davidâs ward.

A slim woman was sitting by bed and feeding him some chicken soup.
The moment Silvia saw her back, a bad feeling rose in her heart. She called out to her subconsciously, âIsla...â
