After a brief pause, she softly said, “I’m sorry for what happened today. I didn’t really mean the things I said in anger earlier. I just didn’t want to keep owing you more and more. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to repay you.”

Neil remained quiet for a moment before his cold voice echoed in the room.

“You don’t have to repay me if you can’t. I never intended to make you feel guilty. I wonder if you truly don’t get what’s going on or if you’re just pretending to be clueless.”

His words left Silvia feeling somewhat confused.

She knew that he was not the type to meddle in others’ affairs. In addition, the things he had been doing for her lately pointed to one possibility.

While they were secretly married for three years, she faced so much disappointment that she no longer dared to hold out hope for him.
