When Melanie saw Neil in the wheelchair, her heart broke. She pushed Silvia away and walked up to him.
âWhy are you still defending her in your condition?â
Neil frowned. âMy accident has nothing to do with her.â
Melanie sneered. âIf you hadnât gone to the court to submit those divorce papers, would you have gotten involved in a car accident?â
âNobody could have expected that.â
âEnough. I donât want to hear it anymore. Iâll pack your luggage for you. From today onward, youâre moving back home.â
Neilâs expression turned cold. âIâm not going home.â
âI wonât let you stay with this woman anymore!â
âThe woman youâre talking about is my wife, and she has a name. Even if you donât like her, you need to respect her!â
Melanieâs eyes were full of disbelief. She had just been abroad for a while and did not keep in contact with Neil during that time, so imagine her surprise when she came back to him having his attitude changing completely toward Silvia.
âNeil, Silvia Pond will only hurt you. Come back with me right now. Iâll handle the divorce for you!â
He glared at her, and his voice was filled with anger. âThis is between me and my wife. I hope you wonât interfere.â
Melanieâs face turned red with rage, and she raised her voice. âNeil Remus, are you trying to piss me off? Do you realize that I almost had a heart attack when I heard about your injuries? But now, youâre losing your temper with me because of the person who sent you to your doom?â
Neil appeared even more dissatisfied. âHow did you learn about my accident?â
He had given clear orders to not inform Melanie and Jake about his accident. They would only know if they came back and visited Abalene.
Melanieâs eyes shone with guilt, and she avoided eye contact.
She would sometimes be scared of her son too.
âWhere I heard about it is not important. The point is, I wonât let you and Silvia be together no matter what!â
Neil meant the world to her. She would rather die than have anything happen to him.
âIâm not going with you. Iâll get Mr. Sayer to send you back to the mansion later.â
âNeil Remus!â
Melanie was fuming. She glared at him and asked, âYouâre just trying to make me mad, arenât you?â
He turned to Silvia and refused to look at her anymore. âIâd like to take a bath. Help me.â
Silvia did not want to face Melanie alone either. She accepted the slap because Neilâs accident was indeed related to her.
Even so, if Melanie slapped her a second time, she would not sit back and take it.
As she approached Neil to push his wheelchair, Melanie instantly shoved her aside.
âGo away! Donât ever go near him again!â
Silvia did not get angry. She smiled and said, âSure. I have work tomorrow, so Iâll let you take care of him, Mrs. Remus.â
After she left the living room, Melanie attempted to push Neilâs wheelchair. However, he pressed a button on the wheelchair and turned before he looked his mother in the eyes.
Neil was in a lower position than Melanie, but he emitted an extremely imposing aura.
âMom, Iâm telling you that I wonât divorce Silvia. Just drop the idea!â
Melanie gritted her teeth and snapped. âWhatâs so great about her? You were forced to marry her back then! Adaâs back now. You should part ways with Silvia as soon as possible and marry Ada!â
Ada had grown up before Melanieâs eyes, so she would much rather have Ada as her daughter-in-law.
Meanwhile, Silvia was a village girl from the countryside. She only ended up with Neil for three years through sheer luck!
âI wonât marry Ada. If you like her that much, you can take her in as a goddaughter. Donât pair me up with her.â
Melanie looked at him in disbelief. âDidnât you like her in the past? Donât tell me youâve fallen for Silvia?!â
Neil frowned. âIt doesnât have anything to do with whether I love her or not.â

âI donât need a woman to advance my career!â His eyes shone with contempt.
Melanie realized that he could not be convinced in the slightest, and her chest began to hurt from her intense anger.
