He lay on his bed, patiently waiting for Nicky to arrive. He couldn't even play video games to pass the time. All that was running through his head was Noah and he wasn't sure whether he wanted those thoughts to stop or not.
His phone buzzed beside him and he checked it to find a text from an unknown number.
Hey sexy. -x
Austin creased his forehead, having no idea who this could be.
Who's this?! -A
The next came as soon as he sent his..
The forbidden fruit. ^.^ -x
Stop messing with me. Who are you ? -A
Search deep within your soul, because there your answer lies......Or you can look out your window ;) -x
What?! Austin thought as he quickly rushed to the window and opened it.
"What the fuck!" He exclaimed as he spotted Noah, standing near the front door. Noah looked up and sent him a wink, which had Austin's insides turning in so many directions. The next thought that popped in his head was what he had just done a few minutes ago in his bathroom.
"Go away!" Austin mouthed before shutting his window and going back to his bed, his face growing hotter and his mind running at a dangerous speed.
You're breaking my heart sweetheart. -x
Seriously, what is wrong with you ?! -A
You. -x
Lose my number, now! -A
I can't lose that which is engraved in my heart. -x
That's it. Austin tossed his phone aside, refusing to chat with him. Ten minutes later, he heard a knock on his door so he rushed to open it, expecting it to be Nicky.
But the soft features of his face turned into a scowl when he saw Noah standing there, smirking like his life depended on it.
"You weren't replying back my texts so I had to come check on you."
"Well, as you can see, I'm ok. You can go now"
"You don't look ok." Noah feigned concern.
"What?!"
"You look like you need a kiss." Noah said with a grin, then pouted his lips and started making kissing sounds.
Austin reached out for Noah's arm and started inspecting his wrist as if looking for something.
"Oh, I didn't know, you're a foreplay guy."
"Don't flatter yourself." Austin said, still searching and patting occasionally.
"What are you doing?" Noah was now getting alarmed.
"Searching for the number of your primary care physician. Should be here somewhere.."
"It's written somewhere else but if you ask nicely, I'll let you look." Noah caught on quickly and played along, pointing to his pants as he flashed another one of his sexy smiles.
Austin couldn't take it anymore so he left and went to sit on his bed, leaving the door open. Noah came in and shut the door behind him, locking it for some unknown reason. When Austin heard the click he looked up quizzically at Noah.
"What'd you do that for ?!"
"From what I hear, I don't think your father would be real happy seeing such a hot guy in your room." Noah replied. At least he has a little brain although it was hidden deep under that thick skull of his. Austin gave him props for that.
"Leave it open. Maybe him killing me is the only way to get away from you." Austin said sarcastically anyway because complimenting Noah would be a bad move on his part.
"Why would you wanna do that ? I'm a delight!" Noah said, sitting right next to Austin.
"You're about as much fun as twisting a knife through my gut."
Noah winced, "Ouch!"
Austin ignored him and lowered his back onto the bed. "Why are you here, Noah ?" he asked.
"I was dropping off Nicky, remember ?"
"This doesn't look like dropping her off." Austin deadpanned .
"Wouldn't miss out on a chance to see you now, would I ?" Noah mirrored Austin's position on the bed.
No matter how much Austin thought about it, he would never be able to come up with a rational answer as to why or how he and Noah had ended up lying in his bed with the door locked.
It felt right although Austin would never admit to it.
"So, are you leaving or do I need to release dogs on you ?"
"You have dogs?"
"No but our neighbor, Mrs. Goldstein, does. And she likes me enough to let me borrow them."
"Oh, so now I have competition!" Noah feigned surprise, turning his head to look at Austin.
"Yea, actually," Austin stated, "That old, wrinkly Jewish woman who speaks Yiddish more than she does English has better a chance than you do."
"Why are you so hell bent on breaking my heart? Ever since we met, I feel like that's all you've been doing to me."
"What the fuck are you talking about! I just met you this morning!"
"That's a long time for love." Noah said matter-of-factly. That had Austin remembering again what had happened in the shower earlier.
This wasn't love or any kind of attraction whatsoever.
He narrowed all it down to just a bad carnal reaction to perhaps the worst day of his life.
A blush started working it's was to his face anyway. He couldn't have this happening. Especially with Noah around. Thank god Noah couldn't read his thought. That would have been fucked up.
He stood up abruptly then turned back to look at Noah, "Please Leave!"
"Aww, Austin, are you blushing?" Noah cooed, standing up so he was on the same level as Austin. The two boys were about the same height but Noah was like one or two inches taller.
"No, asshole, that's just the first manifestations of anger induced by your presence!"
"Oh.'
"Go away !" Austin pointed towards the door.
"Alright!" Noah said, raising his hands in a form of surrender. "Don't get your knickers in a bunch...although, that's quite as sight come to think of it!" He spaced out a bit at that.
"Out!"
"Don't I get a kiss?" Noah said, pouting his lips invitation. Austin remembered kissing those lips in his fantasyland. They had been so soft and satiating that he wondered how it would feel to kiss them in reality. "Wow, your lips look so sexy right now I wonder what it would be like to kiss you right now." It's like he had read his mind, which was alarming especially when Noah started leaning in closer.
Austin put his hand firmly on Noah's chest and pushed him back, "Seriously, do you have a death wish or something?" he asked as he reached for the doorknob and turned it then opened the door.
He pulled Noah by his biceps, which were as firm and hard - and smooth at the same time as they looked, and led him out. "Don't ever come back!" He said before slamming the door and locking it.
He knew that was rude and a little uncalled for but he couldn't give it much thought. He needed to deal with all the reactions his body was having towards Noah. His heart beat faster and he didn't know if it was being caused by the agitation caused by Noah or something else entirely -also caused by Noah.
There was a knock at his door before he could establish and organize his thoughts. At first, he didn't wanna open it because he thought it was Noah, back to taunt him some more. But as the knocking persisted, he called out, "Who is it?"
"It's me, you twat!"
He got up and unlocked it, leaving it to her to open it herself. She stormed in immediately, looking pissed, "Why the hell would you that !" she screamed.
"Ok, I see we're conversing backwards, "Hello, little sis! How are you!" he greeted with a fake grin.
"Don't pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about! Why would you do that to Noah?"
"And what is it that I did?" he asked confusedly.
"Why did you kick him out like that?"
"I haven't kicked anyone." he replied innocently.
"Don't play dumb! Noah left upset." she said, sitting on his study chair but turning to face him.
"What do you mean?"
"He didn't like how you treated him."
"Since when do I care what he likes or doesn't ?" Austin asked, feeling offended.
"He's my friend."
"Oh, come on! You met him a few hours ago, stop acting all chummy ."
"Whatever, but you should apologize."
"Yea, sure. And after that, maybe I'll build a time machine to go back in time and become best friends with Elvis Presley."
"I'm serious."
"This day has been hard enough. I don't have the energy to deal with a guy whom I'm suspecting escaped from an asylum."
"That's not nice Austin."
"Well, maybe I don't wanna be nice!" he started, raising his voice all of a sudden. "My sexual orientation is now being questioned by everyone I know just because you couldn't figure out how to work your stupid phone! And I'm being forced to go to therapy like some crazy person so I can be 'cured' of some supposed disease that I don't even have.
"And to top it all off, my girlfriend just broke up with me because she doesn't believe my story and at the same time confessed to me that she made out with one of my closest friends on our five month anniversary!
"So, no! Don't ask me to be nice. Because I just met the most annoying human being in all of history and in a span of hours, said person has managed to make me feel things I never dreamed of feeling and it's terrifying, you hear me? Terrifying! I'm freaking out right now and I have no idea what I'm gonna do. None!"
He stopped to catch a breath. Nicky stayed frozen on the spot as she looked at her brother, totally dumbfounded. They stayed silent for a few minutes before Nicky spoke, "I'm sorry."
"What?" Austin asked.
"I'm sorry I got you into all of this." Her voice was low, just above a whisper.
"It's my fault anyway. I just couldn't let Sam win. I don't blame you."
"I know. But I still feel bad about it."
"Well, don't ," Austin soothed her despite his predicament. " These things happen, right?" He attempted too lighten the moment.
She offered him a small smile, "By the way, you didn't know about Lucy making out with Colby ?"
This time Austin really looked at her, his eyes full of surprise, "You knew!"
"Everyone knows, we all just assumed you knew too since she used to tell everyone that the two of you told each other everything."
"What else have I been in the dark about?" He asked curiously.
"That they've made out on three other occasions since that first time at the party."
"What?!"
"Yea, why do you think I was calling her a phony? She had you completely whipped!"
"Wow, if I didn't know about any of that, then maybe I was really whipped." he exclaimed in realization.
"Maybe? Dude, you mean extremely!" she exaggerated.
"Yea." he replied silently.
"There's one more thing you said during your crazy rant."
"What are you talking about?" he asked, lifting his head off the carpeted floor to look at her.
"About Noah.."
"What do you - oh no! Don't ever mention that again!"
"Nuh-uh, you can't take it back now bro.!"
"Please don't say it-"
"You like Noah. Can we just talk about how you're totally crushing on him!" She seemed too happy for no reason.
Uh-ow, the can of worms was open.
"No! I definitely don't!"
"Austin and Noah, sitting in a tree. K-I-S-" she started singing.
"What are you, five?"
"You're the one who said you have a reaction to him, not me." She leaned back in the chair and crossed her legs.
"What I felt was maybe a negative reaction to his cologne, nobody needs that much!" That was a total lie, he loved Noah's scent. It was like an aphrodisiac to his nostrils. Nicky didn't need to know that now, did she?
"Your mouth says one thing. Your eyes say another," she said.
"Whatever. How did you get him upstairs without dad throwing a fit anyway?"
"His car wasn't in the driveway. Figured he went back to the office."
"Of course he would!"
"Are you gonna tell mom about the doctor?"
"No, I'll just wait for him to tell her himself. I'm not doing his dirty work for him."
"And when do you think that's gonna happen?"
"I don't know. He seems more terrified of her now. But she'll notice soon enough."
"How do things get so complicated so fast?" She asked thoughtfully.
"I don't know. How did it go at your boyfriend's house."
"It was great! He looks all grown up and it's just been three weeks. I met a family friend of theirs that came here to go to school. Her name's Lira. She's a redhead."
"Oh, nice." he said, "Maybe I'll start dating her."
"She's French."
"Even better. The girls here are all total bitches."
Nicky snickered, "Besides, I'm sure Noah has already called dibs on you."
"Tsk!" Austin rolled his eyes.
They just sat there, reminiscing their day, waiting for their mom to get home and prepare dinner.
